I think we made her scared. [Guess who is next door to you Sephiroth. That's right. Romeo scoots closer to the glass that separates them.] So she locked us up.

[That tiny voice to his side-

Romeo. Of all the irritating children in the Tower and it had to be the one that somehow managed to hold fast to some misguided belief that Sephiroth really couldn't be all that bad.

At least before Sephiroth's own attempt at Tower-domination. He's not seen the kid since. Now stuck in a cell next to him. Sephiroth sighs though makes it shorter than it could have been. Replying yet not turning in Romeo's direction.]

Hm- what made you think that?

Because why else would she lock us up? [He blinked at Sephiroth.] She likes playing games and we need to be more free to do that. Even when all the administrators had a fight and all hurt us... when Ruana took over from Jason she took us out of our cages. [He shrugged] So she must think we can really beat her if she is going to lock us up.

[He doubts it's that simple, even if Romeo did have a point about her games. It had been a long time since she had played with them as such, getting them to kill Jason for her seemed a deviation from her usual tastes. Though Sephiroth does turns his head down over a shoulder some at Romeo.]

I don't think she's scared of us at all. She's upset that her things keep getting broken. Won't be breaking anything from in here.

[Romeo shrugged] It still means we made a difference. [He smiles]

Hmph. [Sephiroth also shrugs but it's much more negative of a gesture than Romeo's one.]

Some difference. In breaking things we don't understand.

But they mattered, or she wouldn't of locked us up. [He sits silently for a moment before blinking at Sephiroth] I'm not mad at you, you know. Even if lots of people are.

Considering we, as a collective, are responsible in no small part for all of the Tower's deterioration - I'm surprised she didn't lock those responsible away sooner.

[Not him. And he wouldn't have had so much attention from the Administration as a result either. It would have made a lot of things easier.]

I guess she felt secure with the other Admins around.

Maybe. [He shrugged] Or maybe she couldn't for some reason.

[As if in some acceptance that this conversation with Romeo is better than the timer-filled silence Sephiroth turns more to face the boy to the one side of him.]

Well, she has taken all of them within herself, now. Who knows what we are to expect next.

Something bad. But we will beat her. We will show her she can't keep hurting us.

It really wouldn't make any difference if we weren't able to feel anything. If we simply hollowed away until there was nothing but our cages left.

That won't happen! [Romeo looked at him] We will stop her before she does something like that.

[The impression of something similar to a thin smile slides across the bottom part of Sephiroth's face. Barely visible between bangs of nanofilm threaded with violet, even Romeo is not giving up yet. Not that he had ever.]

We'll have to wait and see.

We will.

[He smiles back, even a tiny smile barely seen is better than nothing] Don't worry, I'll make sure you are alright.

Hmph.

[It's abrupt and final, as Sephiroth turns his attention to the other cells he can see, and that infernal clock, again. Away from Romeo as if to start ignoring him.

The only person who will eventually make sure that Sephiroth is alright, is Sephiroth himself. It can't be any other way.]

[Romeo sighed and just scooted closer to the glass] Do you really not like me?

[A bit quieter] Is that why you turned me into that monster thing?

[He didn't just-

Sephiroth only glanced across again to ascertain that, yes, Romeo had felt the need to scuttle on closer to the glass that separates them. It's not like he's got much room to put space between them either. He never did understand the kid, nor any kid really, and why he kept coming back like a puppy whining to be kicked. He was about to just ignore Romeo and turn away as far as he could get-

The edges of Sephiroth's film-eyes flexed at the second question, both acknowledging the topic and expressing interest at the way the boy had lowered his volume in order to speak it. He's not ever hidden the facts about what he did, but then no one had sought him out to ask either.]

That wasn't the reason, no.

[He hadn't that much control over what his taint had caused each individual to mutate into, but is happy to let Romeo believe he did it consciously if he wanted to.]

What was the reason then? [A serious question, he really wants to know. It was a bad thing for Sephiroth to do but he wants to know why. Why he would hurt everyone like that and why he had made Romeo into someone who would be nasty and horrid to his friends.]

To get out of here.

[It's a short, sharp reply but in essence it's nothing but the truth. Just not with all of the extra details explained, of which Sephiroth is sure Romeo would neither like nor understand. Yes he'd hijacked the souls of others in his own selfish attempt at escape, and if that power hadn't been stolen from him he'd have tried it again as well.

Hurting people is always a side-effect when it came to Sephiroth getting what he wants.]

That was all? [He blinked sadly at him] So you just didn't think about the people you would be hurting?

[He misses that blink, instead glaring at the timer in the middle of the space on the other side of his barrier.]

It would have been worth it.

[The comment is entirely dismissive. He doesn't really care all that much who or how he hurt others in the process. What had been most important was the freedom of his soul from it's cage.]

[Romeo stares at him a few more minutes, as if unbelieving that someone could be so selfish as to consider hurting and killing people for their own gain worth it.] Oh.

[About half way through Romeo's staring Sephiroth turns to look back over his shoulder down at him again. Waiting for the next comment or question. Mindful of what the boy could be thinking.

He's half-disappointed, half-satisfied with the response.]

That's it.

[Que a one sided shrug.]

[Romeo frowned for a moment but then nodded] Doesn't it make you sad, when you think like that?
