He's got swagger, yo
[He gestured slightly, before taking a drink. Networking is a positive thing.
At the look on Charles's face, however, Erik lets out a slight sigh, shifting on his feet.]
Are you?
[His face reveals nothing; he's wishing he brought the helmet. Erik isn't sure he wants to have this conversation. Or even what he wants from the situation. A rarity.]
no subject
[He'll set his cup of punch between his knees, trying to move his chair so he can park beside him.]
Though I hear it is easier to speak with others when you're not standing off away from everyone.
[His smile turns fond, and he'll take his punch in hand again, sipping.]
And of course I am. Just because we have disagreements, it does not lessen how much I enjoy your presence.
no subject
I like to observe first, Charles. You know that.
[He presses his lips into a thin line, letting out a slight snort.]
Some might call you a masochist for it.
no subject
Of course, of course, but sometimes it never hurts to jump in without looking.
[Like jumping into pitch dark water without a second thought. Just saying. But he'll chuckle.]
Is that what you assume they'd call me, or what you would call me, my friend?
no subject
[He takes another drink.]
You're sending mixed signals, Charles. I might get confused.
[Erik looks down at his friend.]
Both, actually.
no subject
[Well, so he thought. Then again he wasn't used to coming to a party that didn't involve him getting drunk and hitting on co-eds. This was not his typical party, at all.]
For your information, I'm not that worried what they call me. But I am curious if you consider that a bad thing or not? [Being a masochist for staying around Erik.]
no subject
[It's a tease and a dig at the same time. But not overly malicious.
At the other's question, he looks down at Charles, and gives a shrug.]
I can't say.
[It's honest. Charles would most likely be better off without him. But he can't deny that...a large part of him now would rather keep the mutant close. But that's what he's always wanted.]
no subject
[And he'll take a moment to enjoy a bit of punch.]
Mn, you can't say, or you won't say?
[A curious little smile up at his friend. And then he's seeming to change tactics, smile growing bigger.]
Now we can't have you staying over here like this the whole party, Erik. You have to at least enjoy a little food. Have a dance with a charming young lady.
no subject
[He quirks an eyebrow.]
I can and I will stand here if I wish. I'm not hungry, and I don't dance.
no subject
[And Charles will make a face at that.]
Oh come now, Erik. Not even if a good friend asks you to dance?
no subject
And I don't think you'll be asking me.
[Really, Charles.]
no subject
[Really, Erik.]
no subject
[Really, Charles. Are you--really.]
no subject
[He'll roll over to a nearby table to set his drink down, before rolling on back, holding a hand out to Erik.]
And humor me with a dance, my friend?
no subject
You can't be serious.
No.
[What--he kisses you once, and now think they can dance? What.]
no subject
[He'll let his hand fall and shrugs.]
Admittedly it's a bit foolish to ask a man to dance with me, isn't it? Though I doubt anyone here would care much. [Even if it would be strange for the both of them.]
Perhaps I could see if Molly wishes to dance again then.
[And he'll make to start turning, to go find said Molly. And excuse you, it was more than ONE kiss. There where quite a few in there, sir.]
no subject
[Erik stills the chair with his powers.]
Good enough? I said I don't dance. It has nothing to do with your serious being 'good enough'.
This is--
[He scowls, taking a drink.]
Think about someone other than yourself for one damn minute.
no subject
Even though it did, but only because Charles let it.]
... I'm sorry.
[As the moment he tries to fire back with something angry, or to fight what Erik says, Charles finds he really doesn't want to. Ashamed now, he'll sigh, looking down at his lap, fingers running over the indent in the arm of his chair. Something he found himself doing much too often now. A nervous tick almost.]
no subject
[Erik sighs, and lets the chair go.]
no subject
But we also know how to put each other back together, don't we.
[And looking over at his abandoned drink he'll motion for Erik to come with him.]
Will you sit with me?
no subject
[He sighs, finishing his drink.]
All right.
[He pulls out his flask and pours more alcohol into it as he walks.]
no subject
Would you mind sharing a little?
no subject
[And he sits down, pouring some into the other's drink.]
no subject
[He'll take up his drink and tip it a bit in cheers to him, before sipping some.]
... oh that is much better.
no subject
[He smirks, though, and takes another sip of his own.]
