Setting: Floor 6, the forest
Format: Prose
Summary: Terezi's been jilted by Bluekat and needs a little mustard love.
Warnings: None.

Sollux usually didn't spend a lot of time in the forest on Floor 6, but the lack of computers might have been making him antsy. For once, he felt like walking around for a bit, and a forest seemed like the best place to do some walking.

After half an hour of pushing branches aside, tripping on roots, and blasting wild fauna, he wondered why he had ever thought this was a good idea.

Terezi had wandered into the forest with her lusus about a half hour ago, as it was one of the few floors where she could actually fly around. The dragon was off hunting, though, leaving Terezi alone and giving her a chance to pout. Which she totally was.

This wonderful brooding session was interrupted when Terezi heard what sounded like an elephant stumbling through the underbrush. She caught Sollux's familiar mustard-y scent and actually perked up a little. He was one of the few people she'd actually enjoy seeing at the moment.

"Jegus, Sollux, could you be any louder?"

Sollux thought he was alone until he heard the voice. He looked around, peeked around a tree, and then stepped around it when he saw Terezi there.

"I wathn't being loud. I wath jutht walking."

"You were crashing!" She replied, patting the spot beside her. "What are you doing here?" Running into Sollux outside (or as close to outside as the Tower could manage) was honestly a bit strange.

"Crashing?" Sollux said, rolling his eyes. He plunked down beside her. "I dunno, I wath walking. But it wathn't ath nithe ath I wath lead to believe. What are you doing here, TZ?"

"There are monsters in here, you know!" Actually, she wasn't sure if there were, this close to the entrance, but she wasn't going to pass up a chance to tease him. Terezi made a face at his question, flopping backward onto the grass. "Avoiding someone!"

"I know!" Sollux said, shrugging and spreading his hands. "I found a few and kicked their athh. That part wath a lot more fun than tripping over brancheth."

He glanced at her, curious. "Who are you avoiding?"

She frowned, tearing blades of grass out of the ground. This was pretty embarrassing, and she wasn't sure she really wanted to talk about it.

But it was Sollux, so.

"Karkat. Not ours. The cerulean blood."

"Oh yeah," Sollux said. He was acquainted with the other Karkat pretty well. He generally liked him, though he'd had his differences with him, himself. "But why are you avoiding him?"

"Because he's an asshole and I hate him," she replied, sitting up again to poke at him. Obviously there was more to it than that, but Terezi wasn't going to get into it unless he pushed.

Sollux eyed her and poked her in the ribs. "Becauthe...?" he asked in a leading manner, raising his eyebrows.

She frowned, swatting at his hand and falling silent for a moment or so. Jegus, this was so embarrassing. "Because..." She didn't have to tell him of course, not really, but the thought of finally having someone to rant to convinced her. "He was acting like he was flushed for me and he isn't."

There! She'd said it, and it certainly was a bit of a relief. Her cheeks were still a bit teal, though.

Sollux gazed at her for a few moments. "Are you sure he'th really not flushed for you, and he'th not jutht pretending becauthe he'th embarrathhed?" Because that really was something Karkat would do.

That would certainly have been ten times more stupid but much less painful. "Nope!" She replied, crossing her legs. "I am the best lie detector in the world, remember? He tricked me."

"Why?" Sollux asked, mystified, but beginning to get a little pissed off. "Tho he could make out with you for no reathon?" He had to like Terezi at least a little. This didn't make any sense. "Ith he black for you, then?"

She frowned, beginning to take out her frustration on the grass again. "That would make more sense! But no, he isn't." Terezi shrugged, glancing up at him. "It's stupid."

"It thoundth really thtupid." He isn't sure what to do, so he reaches out and puts his hand on her shoulder, slowly sneaking it around to the other side while keeping a close eye on her. If she doesn't seem to want the touch, he'll withdraw. "I don't get why he'd wathte hith time leading you on. It mutht have jutht been to feed hith thtupid therulean ego!" He's starting to snarl on her behalf. "Did you kick hith athh?"

Terezi hesitated, then scooted closer, bumping her shoulder against him. A little comfort is pretty much just what she needed right now. "Ugghh, cerulean bloods are so gross. I pushed him, but he just kept being all arrogant and stupid."

"What a dick," Sollux said, tightening his arm around her shoulders. "You detherve a hell of a lot better than him! How did you even find out he wath putting you on? Did he get bored or thomething?"

She sighed dramatically, resting her head on his shoulder. "Nope! He wasn't even brave enough to admit it. His moirail had to tell me." Yup, she was definitely getting upset all over again. "How pathetic is that?"

"He didn't even have the shame globeth to tell you himthelf?" He tightened his arm. "Tho did you kick hith athh?"

"No. I should have. Maybe I will." She shrugged, chewing on her lower lip for a moment. "I guess I was too mad to think straight."

"I would have thought being mad would make you fight harder," Sollux said wryly.

"He was acting so high and mighty about it, especially when I pushed him! It just made me even more angry," she responded, rolling her eyes.

"Yeah, I bet. That'th what he'th like, for sure. Fucking highblood thtuck up, athhhole." Sollux snarled. Then he sagged a little. "Well, I thought he wath pretty nithe, but obviouthly not. I'm thorry he hurt you, tz."

Terezi giggled at his little rant, glancing up at him. "Thanks, Tholluxth. You know what might cheer me up?"
