Format: I'll follow, but action is far faster for me
Summary: Yosuke's in a half-thinking, half-escapist mood. What better place to do both?
Warnings: None!

[In the middle of this springtime meadow is one high school student, sprawled out on the grass with his headphones on and blasting music. He switches every few minutes between nodding his head to the beat and looking oddly contemplative. But he's aware of his surroundings, and as people pass he'll do one of two things]

[If Yosuke doesn't know you, he'll simply smile and offer a friendly wave]

[If he does, he'll slip the headphones off his hears and give a greeting] Hey!

Yeah?

[He didn't really have her pegged as a city girl, but then again he never asked much about her home. Time to rectify this!]

So what was Alternia like then?

Well, it kind-of depends. The mountains and the beaches I steered clear of...adventures are all well and good but not when you're likely to get culled on sight. Where I lived it was a little more...I guess open, like this, but without the flowers. And with more creatures roaming about.

[princeofjunes]

[... he's not sure if this is stranger than the 'a video game destroyed my home' story or not. It's at least equally sad, to not be able to go far from home for risk of being murdered. Yeah, she's a troll, but she's not bloodthirsty. Or scary, murderous, or anything remotely bad.]

[But in a moment of comparative brilliance, Yosuke decides to at least not focus on that part]

So you're a country girl, just not a flowery meadow kind of country girl. I can see that!

I don't know if you'd call it country, exactly. But it was a quiet lawnring. Plenty of space for excavations.

[She grins at the memory of that]

Which isn't to say I didn't explore.

[Excavations? Oh, right! She did mention that guy finding that thing in a cave]

[... Yosuke has the best memory]

Did you meet a lot of other trolls that way? You mentioned that other friend of yours exploring a cave too.

Hmm? Oh no, I was really the only one I know who explored for exploration's sake. But yes, I've known quite a few trolls in my time...some maybe that I'd prefer not to have met but it was all for a reason so I suppose I can't argue.

So they're not all easy to get along with like you, huh? Guess I better keep that in mind, in case I meet any other ones here.

But if you know any other cute ones... [He gives her a grin for a moment before laughing] Nah, I'm just messing with you.

Not at all. The highbloods in particular can be difficult to deal with, the adults especially.

[She giggles at the cute comment, unable to resist teasing]

Well, you know, there is another version of me here in the tower, from a different timeline. Older than I am. There's my ancestor, too, but she's not so friendly.

Another you, huh? I still can't get over how relaxed people are about that. At the very least, it's gotta be confusing when you're both in the same room.

Well, I suppose. But then I'm used to time clones and being able to talk to myself in the past. Really, I find it more fascinating than anything else.

[princeofjunes]

Then that makes you tougher than me. I'd probably freak the hell out if there was another me here. That, or we'd become best friends ever and get into more trouble than I ever thought possible.

Not really. It just means we have different experiences. You're probably far from the only one who would prefer not to have multiples around.

[princeofjunes]

I guess you're right. I'd go crazy if there was another me around, and I bet you'd want to beat someone with a stick after working a day in retail.

Retail? Like, selling stuff? Actually that sounds like it might be fun.

[Trolls may not be big on commercialisation but those movies and weapons and stuff've gotta come from somewhere]

It can be, sometimes!

Then you get the customers that try to claim something is 'defective' when they clearly broke it. Or the ones who treat you like their personal servant. Oh, or the ones who decide halfway through their shopping trip that they don't want any milk and that leaving it by the movies is clearly the best idea ever.

Are humans just not very good at shopping?

[That is clearly the most logical conclusion to draw from this]

[Quite frankly, it's not a terrible conclusion. But the truth is much simpler]

Nah. Well, some might be. But I think the problem is more that some people are just assholes.

[She giggles]

That's something our races have in common.

[princeofjunes]

Somehow, I get the feeling that's something every race has in common. If there's a race of perfect people out there, I haven't met them yet.

You're probably right. At least it's only some people. If it was everyone I'm not sure a race would get very far.

[princeofjunes]

[That gets him laughing]

Oh man, can you imagine? "The Planet of the Assholes!" Sounds like a low-budget horror flick.

There probably is a movie called that somewhere in Alternian history. Some time before we ran out of shorter titles, maybe.

Yeah? If you ever find it, look me up. That sounds like a good one for a movie night.

I'll definitely let you know if I come across it.

... and if it doesn't exist, maybe we can use some of the stuff here to film it. That could be a fun weekend project. Ever want to be a movie star, Aradia?
