[When the Handmaid doesn't feel like thinking, she defaults to what's expected of her: That is, violence. So she's been roaming the Tower the past few days, fighting whatever monsters (or residents) she comes across. Of course, immortal doesn't mean invulnerable, so she's retreated to the spring room, which seems to be the most consistently peaceful floor, to patch herself up. The grass around her is littered with bandages, but the gash on her arm requires stitches, and she's doing a pretty sloppy job of sewing herself up. Whatever. It'll do, right? It's not like she can bleed out.]

[It's not terribly painful, anyway. She's dealt with much worse. She just wants him to get it over with so she can go back to brooding.]

[uprisings]

[Well... fights the rising urge to ask her how this happened in the first place...............]

[Succeeds for the moment, returning his attention to fixing her up. Awkward silence go . . .]

[Yuuup she is the queen of awkward silences...]

[Lord... Okay, shifts uncomfortably, but continues along. He is hella efficient at this, brosis, you should feel happy he's helping!!!!]

[She is grateful, even if she'll never admit it. She's just going to... Pull bits of grass out of the ground as she waits...]

[Well that draws his attention, just for a second, and he clears his throat faintly. Right. Resolve failed. Let's do this]

What uh... happened to you?

[entropied]

A monster.

[Did you really think it would be that easy Summoner-chan...]

[uprisings]

[...sobs. He may have been hoping maybe. He should... probably sound disapproving, but he doesn't. Just the same odd, flat tone]

What were you, doing out at night.

[entropied]

[Nope, this is getting to be too much for her.]

Why do you care?

[uprisings]

[hhhhhh because you were really distressed last time and it was his fault and what if this is his fault too and-- Goes kinda still for a second, staring at this half stitched gash...]

[And then he continues stitching again, voice a little softer]

Just curious. I guess.

[entropied]

[She was trying to be all tough like she usually is, there, but the way his voice goes soft just makes her feel so much worse. She's just going to stare down at the ground now.]

[uprisings]

[Stays quiet this time, awkward silence or no, not speaking again until he's set the last stitch. His voice is back to that... flat register again? Yay????]

You should uh... be more careful. [...and oh, he was gonna leave now that he's done but. Feelings... suddenly. Oh Handmaid, why do you have to be like this aaaaah]

[entropied]

[She feels like she should apologize or something, but she has no idea why. For being reckless? For getting hurt? For worrying him? She just nods instead, picking at a loose thread on her dress.]

[uprisings]

[Okay there is kind of a long silence here, and he shifts first like he's going to leave, and then like he might... touch her shoulder, before he just... folds back to where he was when he started. HHHHHHH]

Are you, hurt anywhere else...?

[entropied]

[She shakes her head this time, peeking up at him. She wants to ask if he's okay. He definitely didn't seem to be when she left, but she can't bring herself to.]

What are you doing here?

[uprisings]

[She really doesn't need to ask lskjdf There's this kind of dull shine to his eyes like he's been sleeping too much, and he doesn't smile when he meets her eyes for the split second that he does. His shoulders are folded forward, loosely, instead of the straight-backed, confident way they normally are. It's... pretty obvious he is super not okay at all... ahaha]

You were, hurt. [...] I just... wanted to help.

[entropied]

[She doesn't get why. She's pretty much ruined his life in more than one way, and for the first time ever, she regrets it. She hates seeing him like this. She averts her eyes, chewing on her bottom lip as she fights the strong urge to flee. There's really nothing she can do to fix it, but after a long moment she reaches out to brush her fingertips against his hand, just for a split second.]

[uprisings]

[...well. Yes. LKSJDFL yeah she did kinda ruin his life, but it's... not like it's her fault she knew he failed... He's not the sort to hold bad news against someone when he can help it]

[Once she turns away, he is pretty sure she won't say or do... anything else. Pretty sure he's getting ignored now, and he's about to muster up the will to leave finally when she... does that...??? HE IS LEGITIMATELY STARTLED FOR A SECOND LSDJF and he catches her hand without thinking as she pulls away. Squeezes it, remembering... she had been quite warm when he'd hugged her before. That had been important at the time...]

[And then his sense catches up with him a second later, and he lets go. Doesn't want her to flip out on him again, after all...!! There's an apology caught on his tongue, and he doesn't know if he should say it...]

[entropied]

[She doesn't freak out this time, at least not externally. There's still the usual internal panic about how she shouldn't care about him as much as she does and blah blah blah. And then the past few days of little to no sleep finally catch up with her and she's exhausted suddenly, letting out a soft sigh.]

[uprisings]

[Oh thank goodness. He probably couldn't deal with her freaking out again. Except then it's the sigh that gets to him instead, and... concern makes it into his eyes again. Just for a moment]

You should rest...

[entropied]

I'm fine.

[She says it a little too quickly, because she's nothing if not stubborn. Then she peeks up at him shyly. It's terrifying how much she wants him to be okay.]

[uprisings]

[Oh look that... faintly skeptical look is back, and it brings a little... of his old brightness back to him. Even if he is still remarkably... muted]

You just, had to get stitches... [Obvsly not alright then!!!!]

[entropied]

I've had worse.

[That slips out before she can stop it, and she immediately regrets it. Now he's going to pry, isn't he?]

[uprisings]

[Not really....... He's had worse then that too. Having worse then a gash on the arm is not all that uncommon a thing kind of in general, but especially for lowbloods, in his experience. You get off easy this time, Handmaid!!!]

That uh... doesn't mean you, shouldn't take care of yourself.

[entropied]

I'm fine.

[She's totally repeating herself here, whoops. She doesn't get why he cares at all, though.]
