ITP: Night Watch Log [Aaaand free to tag now!]

Summary: A snapshot of the patrols during the night

OOC: For now characters are divided into pairs for easy tagging. Your characters don't have to stay on the floors they're assigned, but the threads only need to start out there. As for if encounters are made, that is entirely up to you guys. The point is to get some CR and have some fun together, that's all.

You can also encounter Momotaros during the night specifically to be confused for a monster. There will be a subthread for this set up.

MINAMI AND ZACK; FLOOR 32

Flight and/or supernatural powers do not work on this floor. This floor is still outside--in fact, it's not really a floor at all, it's a small floating island. There's a small fairly normal-looking (if you're a human from Earth) forest containing regular Earth animals on the island, as well as berries and mushrooms. If you're sick of the cafeteria food and don't want to chance the restaurant, maybe you can hunt or gather something here. Just be careful you know what you're putting in your mouth; it could be poisonous.

Minami was never going to admit her first round of choices for the Watch involved closing her eyes and pointing at the sheet. True, she'd hoped for enough people to have more than two people go together at once, but the Night Watch was just starting. And she could hope to be paired with her friends all she wanted it wouldn't be fair. Hence her putting herself with Zack and as they made their way through the forest she decided to speak up about something.

"So, what do you think so far?" he seemed sort of like he was military and she wouldn't mind trying to get advice off of him. Practically the entire Watch was older than she was, after all.

To be fair, it wasn't as if squad selection in Zack's world was any better. They said they did their best to make sure there were enough people, but the people themselves may as well have been chosen the same way Minami chose tonight's line-up. Still, he had no problems with it: he could work with just about anyone, and even though tonight was not about making friends, she was a nice enough person. They'd make it work, and if he could advise her, he'd do that the best way he could. Talking.

"I think we're off to a good start. Wouldn't be a bad idea to get some more people involved, though; ten people's kind of a small number for a place this big."

Because there are a lot of floors, and even if they take sections, it's a lot of ground to cover and probably a lot of monsters to deal with. He'd hate to see anyone get hurt because they didn't have enough manpower.

"There were more people interested when I brought it up last month, but I think they lost interest when I couldn't follow through on it right then," she explained with a shrug, "But I think they'll come back once it keeps going. There were other people interested when I asked around about it recently. You guys were the only ones to show up tonight."

She'd probably have to hunt those people down later on, but that was okay with Minami. This would give her something to focus on and after the last six months in this place she desperately needed something to focus on with all the free time she had here.

Zack makes a face at that first bit; just because someone couldn't get things together fast enough doesn't mean they aren't worth sticking with. From what he'd heard, all the chaos going on around here would have made anything chaotic, let alone getting people together like this. It wasn't Minami's fault and they should have been here.

"Let me know if you need any help getting people involved. Two people asking's gotta be better than one, right?"

Or so he hopes. It is dangerous out here, and he can understand why they'd not want to, but this is their home for the next while. They have to defend it.

"Sure. It's only the first week so I'm not too worried about it. Just let me know if anyone agrees so I can add them to the roster, okay?"

She giggles a bit, her hand going in front of her mouth to stifle it at the face he makes. Even if it isn't for the best reasons it's still funny to see!

"And once more people get involved it might be easier to figure out a system of how to get this to work. When I did this kind of thing back home I only had seven people including myself to worry about. Eight, if you count the person who could act as our mission control, but she rarely came with us. I managed to work that out pretty well."

"You got it. I'll be sure and grab you the second I get their names."

He means that, though the look on his face shifts to very amusing confusion as he can't quite figure out why she's giggle. Easily confused, this pup, though he seems ready to roll with it and just press on.

"That's great, but I'm guessing there was a lot less ground to cover if you had only eight people to work with. Nothing wrong with asking someone to help you lead all the folks we're gonna need to keep this place safe, you know."

She's the sort who giggles and tries to be cheerful when she's nervous. Not the most appropriate thing in the world, she realized, but she had a lot of trouble shaking the habit.

"Thanks, I owe you. And as far as the ground we had to cover--that tower was who knows how tall. Taller than the ground we currently have here, but it only existed for an hour each night, not a constant unrelenting threat we had to live in."

But on the topic of finding others to lead: "Once I get to know people better I fully plan on asking for help. I'm only fifteen and you yourself and a few others are trained military. It'd be stupid not to ask for help."
