ITP: Night Watch Log [Aaaand free to tag now!]

Setting: Various floors throughout the Tower
Format: Whatever the comments feel like in the subthreads
Summary: A snapshot of the patrols during the night

OOC: For now characters are divided into pairs for easy tagging. Your characters don't have to stay on the floors they're assigned, but the threads only need to start out there. As for if encounters are made, that is entirely up to you guys. The point is to get some CR and have some fun together, that's all.

You can also encounter Momotaros during the night specifically to be confused for a monster. There will be a subthread for this set up.

TARA AND TERUI; FLOOR 26

This floor is a morgue. It contains all the standard trappings of one, from autopsy tools to walls lined with cold chambers. There are bodies in some of them, if you care to look, but there aren't any you'll recognize. Careful, though; sometimes monsters like to wait for someone to peek inside, and the latches have a terrible habit of locking you in if you get yanked inside.

...morgues.

If Tara is honest with herself, she knows that she's probably lucky to be checking on the morgue floor tonight. Creatures that are likely to be lurking here are probably going to lean more towards the undead, and if Sunnydale had one thing in plenty, it was undead.

Holding open in one hand her little notebook where her observations will be recorded tonight, and holding a pen in the other, Tara sits on an abandoned gurney, kicking her legs absently as she looks around. The lighting is poor, and even with a little orb of light floating over her head, she can't see clearly for more than about five feet in any direction. The nameplates in particular are tantalizingly obscured - she keeps having to fight back the urge to go and check them.

Finally, as the silence is getting to her and nothing seems to be sneaking up quite yet, she directs a question at her newest partner for the night:

"Um, do, d-do you know if there are any, um, v-vampires here?"

As a police officer, Terui Ryu has certainly seen his share of dead bodies and morgues in investigations. Even when dealing with paranormal investigations.

In fact, especially when dealing with paranormal investigations.

So their placement doesn't really bother him much at all.

At the question, he turns around and cocks an eyebrow, arms crossed.

"Vampires?"

He actually considers this for a moment, not dismissing it outright. Considering all the things he'd fought, and all the things he knew lurked elsewhere in his world... There were other Riders out there and all sorts of other monsters besides Dopants.

"...not that I've heard of," he admits, then adds, "but that doesn't mean anything. This place seems to offer a lot of horrible things."

He steps around the gurney and looks around them.

"Including things not yet encountered until recently, it'd seem."

He was starting to wonder if some of those horrible things weren't just drawn into this place the same as they were. It wouldn't terribly surprise him.

"Y-You mean like the, um, the giant spider. Th-The one that's, um...eating people?"

Tara holds her seat on the gurney, for the moment, the better to scribble in some notes. She keeps half an eye on Ryu, though, ready to follow should he decide to keep the patrol moving along.

"Do you think any of those things would be...h-hiding? In, in the...l-lockers, I mean. Should we check?"

It would be standard procedure, back in Sunnydale, to check to make sure that no one had died of exsanguination and, if they had, they hadn't turned up with blood around their mouth. And Ryu is right - the tower seems to have no shortage of horrible things introduced to torrment them.

He stops and considers things.

"Like the spider, yes. Probably a lot more by the looks of things."

He pauses for a second and looks back at her.

"Checking might be a good idea, but before we head on I need to ask - do you have any particular means of defending yourself?"

"Oh! Um..." Tara tugs up her especially long shirt to reveal what appears to be a large hunting knife, in a sheathe hanging off her belt. "But, um, I'm not really good at it. Not with things that are trying to, um...s-stab me back. Really, um, i-it's just magic. But I'm good at that."

This last she says with confidence. Tara is good at magic, when she has enough power to work with.

He considers her words for a moment. Though that last bit sounds confident, the rest does not. He crooks his head to the side for one moment, before turning and beginning to walk.

"I'll take point, then."

As he does this, he reaches in his jacket and retrieves what looks like a scaled down replica of motorcycle handlebars. He places it on his waist, and a belt shoots out around him, locking the Accel Driver into place.

In this place, trying to maintain his identity had no real point. As it was, he wasn't transforming - it was just a precaution. The less he had to fumble with in the dark, the better.
