ITP: Night Watch Log [Aaaand free to tag now!]
Characters: Tara, Minami, Sephiroth, Zack, Cloud, Terui, Suzaku, Fran, Hei, and Xehanort. Guest starring Momotaros.
Setting: Various floors throughout the Tower
Format: Whatever the comments feel like in the subthreads
Summary: A snapshot of the patrols during the night
Warnings: None yet, but they will be added as it comes up.
---
OOC: For now characters are divided into pairs for easy tagging. Your characters don't have to stay on the floors they're assigned, but the threads only need to start out there. As for if encounters are made, that is entirely up to you guys. The point is to get some CR and have some fun together, that's all.
You can also encounter Momotaros during the night specifically to be confused for a monster. There will be a subthread for this set up.
Groups and floors, as decided by the Random Number Gods:
1). Fran and Hei; Floor 24
2). Suzaku and Sephiroth; Floor 16
3). Minami and Zack; Floor 32
4). Tara and Terui; Floor 26
5). Cloud and Xehanort; Floor 10
6). Encountering Momotaros
OOC questions, complaints, crit, and comments about this can be directed to THIS FAQ I set up for the Night Watch. Let me know any feedback so I can improve the way things run for next month.

FRAN AND HEI; FLOOR 24
Have fun, guys!
no subject
Feeling the protective magicks she'd applied earlier ebb away, Fran lifts her hand to recast them. Green light glows faintly at the base of her feet and evaporates into the air after the spell is cast. Twice, she does this, until Protect and Shell are in place.
She shifts her weight, cocks her head in Hei's direction. "Care for your own?"
no subject
He hadn't really known what kind of magic Fran used, or was used to it for that matter. There was Minako's strange abilities, but those were a different matter entirely. All he knew of Fran was the weapon by her side.
no subject
no subject
He nods at her. "Sure."
no subject
"You will find that more effort is required to physically and magickally hurt you," she explains, hand falling back to her side. "You are protected, but not invincible."
Fran returns her attention to the rest of the room. Her ears pick up nothing save the sounds of their own breathing. After a brief pause, she looks to Hei again.
"There is nothing here. Shall we move on?"
no subject
He doesn't hear anything in here either. He nods at Fran. "Doesn't seem like we have much of a choice for now."
no subject
There was always a choice.
"We descend," she says, trusting Hei to speak his complaints, if present. Gun in hand, she turns to the staircase.
As they walk down from twenty-four to, supposedly, twenty-three, Fran decides to engage in conversation. It is unwise to be ready for battle when the abilities of one's partner were currently unknown, and his weapons, if any, were not visible to her.
"I presume you are a hume. A 'human', she said. What is it that you do?"
no subject
"Survive, not much else," he replied simply. Was the truth. Assassin was no longer valid because he no longer did such jobs. "If you mean here, looking for information. What about you?"
Out of everyone, her appearance didn't really startle him that much. Honestly, she was one of the more normal beings here.
SUZAKU AND SEPHIROTH; FLOOR 16
Wow. RNG chooses the weirdest floors. Have fun!
no subject
"See anything?" Suzaku called to the man he had been paired with, someone he had never met before.
MINAMI AND ZACK; FLOOR 32
Will tag in a bit to kick things off, Zack-mun!
no subject
"So, what do you think so far?" he seemed sort of like he was military and she wouldn't mind trying to get advice off of him. Practically the entire Watch was older than she was, after all.
no subject
"I think we're off to a good start. Wouldn't be a bad idea to get some more people involved, though; ten people's kind of a small number for a place this big."
Because there are a lot of floors, and even if they take sections, it's a lot of ground to cover and probably a lot of monsters to deal with. He'd hate to see anyone get hurt because they didn't have enough manpower.
no subject
She'd probably have to hunt those people down later on, but that was okay with Minami. This would give her something to focus on and after the last six months in this place she desperately needed something to focus on with all the free time she had here.
no subject
"Let me know if you need any help getting people involved. Two people asking's gotta be better than one, right?"
Or so he hopes. It is dangerous out here, and he can understand why they'd not want to, but this is their home for the next while. They have to defend it.
no subject
She giggles a bit, her hand going in front of her mouth to stifle it at the face he makes. Even if it isn't for the best reasons it's still funny to see!
"And once more people get involved it might be easier to figure out a system of how to get this to work. When I did this kind of thing back home I only had seven people including myself to worry about. Eight, if you count the person who could act as our mission control, but she rarely came with us. I managed to work that out pretty well."
no subject
He means that, though the look on his face shifts to very amusing confusion as he can't quite figure out why she's giggle. Easily confused, this pup, though he seems ready to roll with it and just press on.
"That's great, but I'm guessing there was a lot less ground to cover if you had only eight people to work with. Nothing wrong with asking someone to help you lead all the folks we're gonna need to keep this place safe, you know."
no subject
"Thanks, I owe you. And as far as the ground we had to cover--that tower was who knows how tall. Taller than the ground we currently have here, but it only existed for an hour each night, not a constant unrelenting threat we had to live in."
But on the topic of finding others to lead: "Once I get to know people better I fully plan on asking for help. I'm only fifteen and you yourself and a few others are trained military. It'd be stupid not to ask for help."
TARA AND TERUI; FLOOR 26
Aaand there! Have fun guys!
no subject
If Tara is honest with herself, she knows that she's probably lucky to be checking on the morgue floor tonight. Creatures that are likely to be lurking here are probably going to lean more towards the undead, and if Sunnydale had one thing in plenty, it was undead.
Holding open in one hand her little notebook where her observations will be recorded tonight, and holding a pen in the other, Tara sits on an abandoned gurney, kicking her legs absently as she looks around. The lighting is poor, and even with a little orb of light floating over her head, she can't see clearly for more than about five feet in any direction. The nameplates in particular are tantalizingly obscured - she keeps having to fight back the urge to go and check them.
Finally, as the silence is getting to her and nothing seems to be sneaking up quite yet, she directs a question at her newest partner for the night:
"Um, do, d-do you know if there are any, um, v-vampires here?"
no subject
In fact, especially when dealing with paranormal investigations.
So their placement doesn't really bother him much at all.
At the question, he turns around and cocks an eyebrow, arms crossed.
"Vampires?"
He actually considers this for a moment, not dismissing it outright. Considering all the things he'd fought, and all the things he knew lurked elsewhere in his world... There were other Riders out there and all sorts of other monsters besides Dopants.
"...not that I've heard of," he admits, then adds, "but that doesn't mean anything. This place seems to offer a lot of horrible things."
He steps around the gurney and looks around them.
"Including things not yet encountered until recently, it'd seem."
He was starting to wonder if some of those horrible things weren't just drawn into this place the same as they were. It wouldn't terribly surprise him.
no subject
Tara holds her seat on the gurney, for the moment, the better to scribble in some notes. She keeps half an eye on Ryu, though, ready to follow should he decide to keep the patrol moving along.
"Do you think any of those things would be...h-hiding? In, in the...l-lockers, I mean. Should we check?"
It would be standard procedure, back in Sunnydale, to check to make sure that no one had died of exsanguination and, if they had, they hadn't turned up with blood around their mouth. And Ryu is right - the tower seems to have no shortage of horrible things introduced to torrment them.
no subject
"Like the spider, yes. Probably a lot more by the looks of things."
He pauses for a second and looks back at her.
"Checking might be a good idea, but before we head on I need to ask - do you have any particular means of defending yourself?"
no subject
This last she says with confidence. Tara is good at magic, when she has enough power to work with.
no subject
"I'll take point, then."
As he does this, he reaches in his jacket and retrieves what looks like a scaled down replica of motorcycle handlebars. He places it on his waist, and a belt shoots out around him, locking the Accel Driver into place.
In this place, trying to maintain his identity had no real point. As it was, he wasn't transforming - it was just a precaution. The less he had to fumble with in the dark, the better.
CLOUD AND XEHANORT; FLOOR 10
Miiight want to stalk this myself. Have fun, guys!
no subject
no subject
He didn't know this guy, and wasn't sure what he was suppose to say, if anything. He looked capable enough and probably had his own way of dealing with anything they may encounter, but Cloud didn't know. He checked his sword's weight - a slight tug to make sure that it will pull free without any hitch from his harness - and started forward.
"You're armed?"
no subject
no subject
He traveled with a wind-up cat and an intelligent beast that resembled a lion crossed with a wolf and both fought just as good as the human members of his team. It was hard not to believe that everyone he had encountered here wasn't some sort of fighter or wizard. That he had run into people who were just normal threw him for a loop.
"Just don't want to get caught flat-footed."

"Are any of these things edible?"

MOMOTAROS
Who's late? I'm late!
