Setting: Room 1-04's door is wide open and waiting for investigators.
Format: Action is quicker, and is what I'll be starting in, but either works! I will match you!
Summary: The Doctor is trying, and failing, to get his collar off. Ridiculousness ensues.

[The Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver whirred

Another crash]

Oh come on!

[A small explosion occurs. Smoke fills the room, but the whirr is heard once more, and the smoke begins to clear up.]

Okay. [cough] Right then. [cough] Note to self --- or is it selves?

Well. Note to me: The Sonic Screwdriver does not work on lighty uppy collar thingies.

[Another day, another small bit of info gathered, but none of it all that useful, so Shoutarou is off to retire to his room for a bit. Though...there's smoke coming out of the doorway. That's not good. He barges in, looking around.]

The hell's going on in here?!

Oh, you know, things. Of the er. Explosive variety. Not to worry. Not to worry. I'm very capable. The King of Capable, I am. Actually, scratch that. It's a rubbish title.

[Says the man whose hair may or may not be on fire.]

[Shoutarou just stares at the man.]

You look more like the King of Hair on Fire.

That's even worse, you know. The King of Cool, now that's a title.

The Doctor, King of Cool -- and oh you meant that literally.

[brb, putting out fire with sonic screwdriver.]

[Wait, how does that even work?]

[Shoutarou leans on the doorframe with crossed arms and an arched eyebrow.]

You must be new - why are you in my room?

New, me? Hardly. Unless you mean to here, in which you could say that. 'Course I don't plan on staying very long. Not much of a stay-er me, much more of a leave-er.

As for the why, it is apparantly also my room.

[Shoutarou sighs, then steps into the room with a lazy, leg-swinging gait.]

Good luck with the leaving part - if you actually manage it, let the rest of us know, we'd like to find a way out, ourselves.

[Shoutarou guessed he's taking Fletcher's spot. Huh. Well, may as well introduce himself. He holds a hand out.] Shoutarou Hidari, private detective.

'Course I'll let you know. I'd be doing an awful job of saving you lot if I didn't tell you how to leave.

Oooh, a detective. Very interesting. And you've got a cool hat! Perhaps that's a detective thing. Cool hats. Sherlock Holmes had a cool hat. Wasn't the friendliest, though. Least he lived up to my expectations. Brilliant man. Brilliant hat. Brilliant brilliant.

[he grins] Hello there, Shoutarou Hidari. It's very nice to meet you. I am the Doctor!

Saving us? [Shoutarou chuckles.] I've been working on doing that, but I haven't had much luck.

[This man was...quirky. Strange. He seemed like he knew a lot... And that reminded Shoutarou of someone.]

[Someone very important to him.]

About time I met someone who can appreciate the hat properly. [He smirks.] Molly's a bit too young to fully grasp the magnitude of such a hard-boiled garment, and Francisca... [He chuckles again.] Well, she appreciates it for other reasons.

The Doctor? [Eyebrow raise.] Just that?

Well, you're only human, as they say. Haven't the faintest idea who "they" are, of course.

[FACE LIGHTS UP] Francisca? Is she a friend a yours? A ladyfriend? [IT'S NOT LIKE HE'S NOSY AND LIKE MATCHMAKING OR ANYTHING] If she likes the hat, she's a keeper. Woman who appreciate cool hats are hard to come by. I should know as River shoots all my hats. Thinks she's so hot. With her "Hello, Sweetie" and "it wouldn't make that noise if you turned the parking breaks off."

[He frowns before grinning again]

Just the Doctor! Nothing more, nothing less! Always have been and always will be! Old and new, borrowed and blue!

[So he's not human? Well, they got nation-people and trollpeople, so what's something else different?] Ah, don't discount humans. [He shakes a finger at 11.] We're full of surprises.

Yes, a ...well, I suppose she counts as a ladyfriend. [Griiiin, though that fades at the talk of hat destruction.] That's horrible.

Okay, then. [Shoutarou guesses it's something like Shroud - taking on a fake name to hide a real one, but he won't press the matter.]

Discourage them? Terribly sorry if it sounded that way. I love humans. Humans are brilliant. I've been looking out for them for years, and sometimes they even manage to look back as well. They're brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. And they never give up. Never ever.

It is, isn't it? But that's River for you, killer of the things I love. She's quite charming otherwise.

You haven't seen a blue box 'round have you?

[There's a smirk on the detective's face.] We certainly don't.

Haven't seen a blue box, no - but... If you're not human, what are you?

...and what would that be?

It's not surprising you haven't heard of them, little more than legend and fairy tale nowadays. Well, depending on when and where in nowadays you end up. Very old, Time Lords, ancient even. Not very friendly either, or big on the interacting and mingkling thing. No-interference policy, you see. Well. You know. Except me. Not really that good a rule following, I am.

You could say we're aliens, I suppose, but that's a bit rude considering we came first, so technically you humans are the aliens.

[Shoutarou watches the man while he explains, peering at him a bit.]

Well, all that tells me is that you're old and not of this world... [A bit rambly, this guy.] I assume that the "time" in that name is for something more than being old.

[Give him a second to look at you...hmmmm....okay]

We're time travellers, or well, I'm a time traveller.

Aha... [Shoutarou nods, rubbing his chin.] Worked with one a couple of times, in a manner of speaking. Didn't get to know him very well, though. [And by working with him, Shoutarou means they appeared in a pair of crossovers together.]

That's a shame. Time travellers are cool.

Aaaand that blue box I mentioned earlier, that's my time machine, my TARDIS. She's cool and brilliant and sexy and she better be alright, for our captor's sake at least.

[The 'sexy' comment earns a sliiiiiight eyebrow raise, but then again, some guys speak that way of cars, so...]

Well, the projects we were on were a bit, ah, high-activity, and everyone kind of went home in a hurry once they were done.

[Shoutarou walks to the Doctor's bed, and lightly kicks the chest at the end of the bed with his foot.] Unless she fits in here, I doubt she'll be here. Seems like all that we get from home is in those chests.

Yeaaaah, no. My TARDIS is the size of a police box.

But she's here, or someone here knows where she is. Probably the same someone with a penchant for lying and kidnapping. Curioser and curiouser.

Right then, Sherlock, want to tell me everything you know about this place so far?

[There's a slight wince at the explanation about the TARDIS.]

You able to sense it or something?

[Shoutarou gives a rundown that is rather equivalent to most of the stuff in his journal, touching briefly on the people he's met.]

No, but it's the only logical conclusion, only people I've taught -- and other Time Lords, of course -- can pilot the TARDIS, she's always with me wherever I go, if she's not with me, then someone's taken her, or someone's taken me and my friends are using her to find me. So she's around, either way.

Comunnications are blocked, though, normally I can reach the TARDIS. Right now, I can't. That means she's been taken, and whoever's got her also has me. I'm in a trap, as it were.

And if there is one thing you never ever want to put in a trap.

It's me.

[He grins] Excellent work, Shou. Looks like I'm going to be doing a bit of exploring.

[Guy's got confidence, at least.]

Hope you have better luck than the rest of us have had, then.

[He does beam a little though at someone appreciating the work he's done.] Let me know what you find, and do be careful - I'm guessing we don't get notifications of new arrivals, judging by you. I haven't even touched base with all those who showed up when I did yet - there may be some nasty surprises waiting out there.
