Wind, huh? [that makes her chuckle a little. of all the places to be reminded of Jade. but she shakes herself out of that quickly enough, continuing on.]

Yeah, we seem to be missing somebody who can really crack heads so far. Hopefully they'll poke their heads out soon, otherwise we're going to have to finesse our way through everything. I don't know about you but I'm not exactly looking forward to that trainwreck.

No kidding - I'm used to having at least one person around who can crack heads, but we'll figure it out.

[What he wouldn't give for Kanji or Chie to be there - but Chie is hopefully at least better off in the tower than in this stupid game]

What about you? You bring something to the table, right?

What, my dashing good looks and riveting conversation aren't enough for you? [she grins, then settles down into something a little more serious]

I work with time. Skips to the past and future, calling in time clones for a little help, and seeing the timeline and where things fuck up if you make the wrong choice. Not too bad, I think.

Seeing the timeline, huh? Not too shabby.

[And that's understating things more than a little. To see where things could possibly go wrong at any point in the future, to see the wrong choices you could make before you make them... that's more than incredible, it's almost god-like. So of course, the proper response is something along the lines of-]

Well I'd make a pass at you, but where's the fun if you already know every time you'll shoot me down before it even happens?

The fun's in coming up with better and better ways to say no every time. [she laughs a little. the stupid almost flirting was different from anything that Dave or John did to her at home - this guy obviously didn't mean it, didn't know enough about her to be trying to make a dig at her. it was just a joke, the way anything like that in regards to her should be.]

Having all the time in the world gives you a lot of opportunities to hone the perfect comeback.

[Somehow or other, Yosuke has actually found a way to cut the tension and relieve the stress, at least some. Not too shabby! He gives himself a mental pat on the back]

The perfect comeback, huh? I look forward to hearing that sometime. Just remember, you're the one who went and put that pressure on yourself!

I'm the only one who can. Being self-motivated really takes a fuckton off your mind. [she rolls her eyes a little, although it's imperceptible behind the sunglasses]

Self motivated... I guess you'd have to be something to be handling this as well as you are. [And really, he is impressed. Not that anyone in their pod is handling it particularly badly (that he's seen), but it's the fact that she's being so calm and preparing for things that he's got to admire]

Don't be surprised when you're the one people come to if the shit hits the fan, fearless leader.

It's kind of hard to freak out about this shit when you've slogged through worse at home. [she shrugs]

I'm no leader, but if everyone else is running around like a chicken with its head cut off you can bet I'm going to start yelling.

Hey, sometimes the leader is just the person that yells the loudest.

It's not exactly the best leadership style, but it has it's uses.

I never exactly went to any leadership seminars, so if you guys can't handle yourselves without someone on top of you the whole time you'll just have to deal with me winging it.

You'll really have no one to blame but yourselves, so I guess it works out.

I don't know, I wouldn't mind someone on top of me the whole time.

And, for the record, were you trying to set me up for bad innuendo, or was that gift basket completely accidental?

Little of both. I wasn't going to pitch a fit if you managed to avoid it, but if you ran into it it makes for a happy surprise.

Well Rose, it sucks that we're here, but I'm looking forward to working with you for this.

[He's impressed, Rose. You're not like many of the other ladies he's met and it's refreshing in ways he wasn't expecting]

And if that means having you on top of me, so much the better.
