sageprincess: (Bittersweet farewells)

[If Zelda knew about the unpleasant memories music might bring, she would likely stop without second thought.

As it stands, however, she simply smiles as the other girl sits, continuing to strum the strings steadily. Admittedly, she's curious as to what Tara might be making, but right now she is providing accompaniment. She can ask later.]

[Zelda might get a hint, as time goes on. The mix of herbs, once sufficiently mixed, begins to emit a smell that will, hopefully, be soothing, relaxing, and mild enough not to irritate. Tara's never done this before, so she expects some trial and error, but a witch knows her herbs and so she's confident she can assist in this way.

She smiles hopefully back at Zelda in turn and resumes her work. Once she's done, well, she'll wait until Zelda has finished to ask her opinion.]

[As the aroma begins to waft into the air, Zelda's playing begins to slow and finally pause as she breathes it in. It's not a scent she is familiar with, but it's a pleasant one nonetheless. And calming, even more so than the simple songs of her harp.

The look she gives Tara is curious, but in a fascinated sort of way.]

What is that?

Hm? [Tara actually beams, pleased with herself. It's not often that her experiments go right.]

It's...i-it's something we have back home. It's called "aromatherapy". I, I-I was thinking, about what we said yesterday, about keeping people calm...and, well, I, I already knew they'd give us herbs, if we asked, so I asked for some, and...

[She motions at the little morter with its little concoction.] T-Ta-da. You, um...y-you really like it?

Aromatherapy...

[She repeats, testing the feel of the word on her tongue. Hah, now isn't that something, battling the trauma they've been through with scents. But, well, to an extent, it's working, so the princess smiles in return and nods.]

I do. It is... perhaps this is not the most eloquent way to put this, but it smells pleasant and natural in a way I have not experienced in quite some time. I am certain others will appreciate your efforts as well.

[Maybe it's not the most eloquent way to put it, but it's a compliment even Tara can't dismiss with her anxieties, and that means a great deal to the girl right now.]

I'm...I'm really glad you like it, Zelda. If it helps...well, I, I just want to help. Don't get t-to do it, that much.

[Oh, she knows that feeling well. The desire to help, but either prevented from doing so or lacking the means. Her friendly smile remains.]

You may need to become accustomed to it. I imagine having those herbs by ones bedside would aid in staving off restless nights.

[Which Zelda would really love to have, if possible. Being a leader means you tend to overthink things when you're trying to go to bed.]

Yeah, they do. Or, um, th-they're supposed to. It's, um, different for everyone. But, um, s-some scents...they're just, well, s-supposed to be calming. Like lavender.

...w-when we get back, I, um, I-I can make s-something like this for you. If you wanted. W-We could, um, experiment.

I would appreciate that quite a bit, in truth. I am certainly more than willing to try, in any case.

Well...th-that's what's important, right? Um...as long as you want to try, and you really try...th-that's what matters.

But, you, y-you can just leave it to me, Zelda. I'll fix up something nice for you.
