[Jun was still a bit out of it from Riki's pod-- he'd never quite gotten used to the weird space and geometry, and his eating habits were starting to creep back to the sparse diet he had had through most of middle and high school.

Still, that...didn't amount to anything in his mind when he had seen most of the people with red bands. All it served to do was make him feel even more sick.

He brought a hand up to cover his mouth and-- admittedly, he had kind of been...staring in morbid fascination at whatever they had done to blond man with the not so natural hump. Unless it was natural, which he highly doubted....

It took him a moment to realize he was staring, and hurriedly rushed to say something to try and not be too rude.] Um-- what... do you need any help...?

[Oh, good one, self. Reeeeeal good one.]

[Jun's mouth is actually what tips England off to his staring. He's so zoned out from the crowd, Jun probably could have gotten away with it if he hadn't said something.

Sucks.]

Hmn?

[Oh, someone was talking to him. Ha. Ha ha. Help. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland never needs help, that's preposterous.]

There's not much to help with, I fear. Removing it would be a bit of a bloody mess.

[Unfortunately, he wasn't gifted with the gift of being a silent protagonist and not ever speaking when something was up.]

Well, maybe not with...um, that. [And he just kind of gestures vaguely at the...scuba...tank...??] Even if I knew anything about medicine, I wouldn't know that much.

But if there's anything else I can do to at least help or make things more comfortable...

[Even if the kid did happen to be a doctor, how much help could he possibly be? They're under surveillance, if the red-collared people hovering around the room are any indication.

There's a knot in England's throat that he wants to claw out. He doesn't need anyone's charity, nor does he need pity. He is fine. Perfectly well.

Eventually, the knot untangles harshly in the form of words:] I don't need help, alright?

[The regret at his own rudeness is almost instantaneous, and despite his best efforts at pokerfacing, it's quite visible in the change of his expression. He averts his eyes, his whole face sullen with weariness.

He can't really blame the other groups for their comparative lack of suffering. They didn't ask for this competition any more than the people in Jason's pod did.]

...sorry.

[He's so tired.]

[He wasn't angry or scared at the harsh words from his mouth; actually, he was more just surprised. In a weird way, it made sense to be relieved. At least it meant this guy was still kicking, rather than giving in to the miserable situation. Right?

He does back off a little though, and his expression falls to be a little more neutral.] It's alright. I should apologize, I think.

[After all, he'd always hated it when guys at school asked him if he was alright.] There's not really much to do here, after all...

[England heaves a sigh and tries to ignore how the movement in his torso strains the skin grafted to the tank.

It's a moment of awkward shifting before he eventually offers:] ...Arthur Kirkland.

I should at least introduce myself if my manners are otherwise going to be so poor. [He can't bring himself to look back at the kid yet, but. At least he has a name now and isn't some-- nameless pity case or something.]

[At this point Jun wasn't even pitying, he was just feeling bad about apparently straining this guy so much.]

Jun Kurosu. Nice to meet you.

[Well he... wasn't feeling very smile-ly, but he'd offered up a smile in worse conditions, so he could do it now.]

[England doesn't smile back, but his tone is cordial enough.] It's nice to meet you, as well.

Or as nice as it can be, considering the circumstances.
