Summary: Futomimi discovers sleep paralysis and fishes. Not together.
Warnings: None so far.

Sleep paralysis would not be so bad without the impression of something terrible looming over him. After ten extremely long minutes, Futomimi can finally sit up in his unknown bed, looking around the room with wide eyes, his heart thumping and his hair askew.

After having found his usual clothes in the trunk at the foot of his bed and changed, Futomimi set off to explore this strange new world whose rules allowed him, a Manikin, to live. On his way down the Tower, the sight and sound of water caught his attention, and he entered Floor 10. There was indeed water there, but it was suspended by some kind of magic and full of living creatures swimming peacefully. Futomimi was so fascinated by the sight he forgot to look where he was going.

[ Hello, new roommate! Actually Aphrodi is new too, so it's not like he can help at all, except maybe throw feathers around and make a mess -- which he doesn't plan to do. ]

Hello. [ He offers a small smile and a wave. ]

*Maybe this person was the one looming? He doesn't actually look or feel very threatening...*

Hello. *He pulls on the ribbon in his hair, undoing it.* Where are we?

We're in a tower of sorts.

[ Aphrodi starts to list things that he's just been told. ]

It's not a pretty place -- there are monsters, apparently, and bad things happen. I've only just arrived myself, so, I don't know much.

[foreseeing_one]

I see. Are we in a Vortex World?

[errandwings]

A Vortex World? [ Aphrodi tilts his head to one side. ]

What's a Vortex World?

Floor 10

[firststep]

[Yori comes down to the aquarium pretty often since if nothing else, it's pretty relaxing to watch! He's humming some sort of thoughtless tune.]

[foreseeing_one]

*Since Futomimi is not being paying attention to his surroundings nor his visions, he collides with Yori.* Oh! I'm very sorry. *Unconsciously, he gets ready to defend himself.*

[firststep]

Oh, urm. It's okay. Are you new here?

[foreseeing_one]

I am, actually. *He calms down a little now that the surprise has passed.* What is this place?

[firststep]

Oh, this is the Tower. Urm, supposedly the world has ended and we've been...rescued.

[Or, well. "Kidnapped", maybe.]

Floor 10

There was a splash nearby as Naoki dove right into a school of fish with the intent of catching a few. By now his brain, thanks to the effects of the collars was causing him to run on pure instinct. Eat. Sleep. Fight. Find food for others.

Even now, that human part of him clung on his back, and despite acting more like a primitive wild child, the whole reason for this trip was to get food for a few of the others in the tower. He was just...a lot more violent about it than usual. So much so he didn't notice Futomimi as he swam, violently trying to grab the animals by the tail.

The splash caught Futomimi's attention and he quickly turned to look. At first he only caught moving green lines among a school of fish, but as the Demi-Fiend moved around to grab fishes, he recognized him. "Naoki?" he called as he got closer.

Sadly the water did not carry his voice and the half-demon heard nothing, lost in his hunt. However, it didn't take too long for Naoki to be successful, and he flew out of the floating aquarium right into the floor, a large trout-like fish in his mouth.

At least, it was there until he noticed Futomimi coming towards him, and Naoki's mouth opened in surprise, releasing the creature from its prison as it splashed back and forth on the floor, forgotten.

"Is that you, Naoki?" Futomimi called again, getting closer still. The Demi-Fiend seemed more feral than usual, but he still had his heart, he was sure of it.

The fish continued to slash until it was able to move itself right back into the floating blocks of water and it flew away swiftly. That was alright...Naoki didn't feel as hungry anymore. In fact he felt a pit to his stomach and a strange amount of shame as he realize what he'd been doing lately. His eyes darted to the floor for a second before he answered.

"Yeah..."

Floor 10

Ammy wasn't looking where she was going, either, which was why she was dashing straight at Futomimi. If his reaction speed was fast enough, he could dodge; if he was surefooted enough, he might regain his balance. Otherwise he was just going to get a face full of white wolf fur and the rest of the wolf to go with it.

[foreseeing_one]

Futomimi was in no way fast enough, or paying attention enough, to avoid the collision, but he did manage to remain on his feet. He turned to the creature he had collided with, expecting a fight.

Ammy rolled to a stop several yards away from Futomimi, landing on all four paws and shaking her head to clear the dizziness. She looked over her shoulder to see who she'd hit and... okay, not helpful. She knew next to no one in the tower, and she'd never seen this guy before.

She paused for a moment as she watched him; usually this was the point at which someone scolded her for being incautious and (occasionally) tried to wallop her besides. In which case it was advantageous to be prepared to run!

[foreseeing_one]

Futomimi did neither of those things. Instead, he asked, "What kind of demon are you?" He could feel this dog was no ordinary dog, but it did not look like an inugami either.

[victory_howl]

Ammy looked slightly affronted. A demon? She wasn't a demon. She was clearly a wolf.

Floor 10!

[ She was so surprised by all the... naturey-stuff in the Aquarium she'd never seen before, having not left Japan's bigger cities, that she couldn't help but stare in awe.

Rhyth notices Futomimi and blinks a few times. What an odd guy... maybe he was a monk?

Either way, you definitely don't have a Manikin on your hands, Futo. It's a human. And she's dressed sort of ridiculously, wearing rollerskates, and staring at all the fish, too. ]

You know, if I didn't know any better, I would guess there's probably a shark over there... that's kind of neat.

[foreseeing_one]

A shark? *Futomimi looked up. Was it this very large fish there?*

[ Yup, there is definitely a shark there. She does indeed point to the bigger fish. ]

Yeaaah, that big thing with the really pointy nose? It's called a shark. I think it's... a Great White or something? There's different species of sharks.

[foreseeing_one]

Amazing... *Such a big predator, swimming calmly among the other fishes. It reminded Futomimi of the Demi-Fiend a bit, and it made him smile.*

[rocketboobs]

Yeah, sharks are really cool. I remember reading they've got these electric senses and stuff, so they know about everything in the water around them. It's really cool.

[ She grins. ]

Fish are pretty cool. They're also pretty free.
