Hacking #02: Tech time

Summary: April has some projects she needs to work on, so now it's time to research and maybe try to build stuff.
Warnings: None, besides April being a dork.

[Floor Three: Library]
[Now that the power is back, April has decided to look through the library more closely. She's seated at the table and there are piles of books around her, and she seems to be scribbling some sort of plans on the pieces of paper in front of her. Though that quickly comes to a halt when the tallest tower of books next to her starts to wobble and nearly topples over, though she's quick to save it.]

Ah geez, that was close... [She'll at least make sure to apologize to anyone who nearly got buried underneath the books.]

[Floor Twenty-Seven: Laboratory]
[Anyone who heads into the laboratory today will find one young woman rummaging through it, a sheaf of paper tucked under her arm which she occasionally pulls out to look at. She won't really notice anyone stepping in, as she's focused on looking for whatever it is she needs and looking over the papers she's holding while mumbling to herself.]

Let's see, there's got to be something like that around here... Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place...

[Floor Fifteen: Workshop]
[Once April finds to workshop, she finally decides to get to work on whatever she's trying to make, and it seems to be an electronic device of some sort. Though judging by her grumbles, she doesn't seem to be having much luck, though it's not like that would stop her. The only times she pauses in making her little device is to scribble something down on one of the many pieces of paper on one of the tables.]

… Maybe I should try something more simple... I doubt I have the parts for this anyhow.

[There's a man suddenly leaning over to look at what she's working on.]

[April manages not to squeak in surprise, but she does tense up for a moment before quickly turning to face him.]

Um... Y-yeah, kinda... I'm not sure if I have the parts I need for this.

[crouching_sin]

[It's okay, he's a geta ninja, he's used to these reactions.]

What are you trying to make, exactly?

[technologic]

A, um, communication device... I was asked to make something like a cell phone, but I think I'm gonna have to make something a lot more simpler than that.

[crouching_sin]

Something more like a beeper then, I suppose. Let me look at what you've got so far.

[technologic]

[She gives him an uncertain look, since she hardly ever let anyone look at stuff she's been working on, but she soon eventually moves so he can have a look.] ... Um, okay, go ahead...

[She's managed to do pretty well so far, but she's reached the point where it's becoming clear that something like a cell phone isn't going to work due to lacking necessary components, despite her attempts to improvise.]

[ Kairi's just doing the exploring thing around here and the library is one of the many pit stops she's making. However, her curiosity is cut short when she notices that a shelf is falling over with someone in the line of fire!

Guess that's a good as time as any to cast a Zero Gravity spell to hold the shelf in place and Kairi standing to protect April. ]

Are you okay?

[technologic]

[April pauses in surprise when it doesn't fall, but she gives Kairi a nod.]

Ah, um, yeah, I'm okay... T-thanks.

[inheritedlight]

[ Kairi doesn't really trust that shelf, so she takes April and moves to somewhere safe in the library for them to talk. ]

Hey, don't mention it. I'm just happy you're safe.

[technologic]

[April blinks at her in surprise.] Ah, um... But still, t-thanks. I probably should have been more careful, though, s-since the shelves here are pretty unsteady.

workshop!

[tsunball]

[ Leon was actually just peeking his head into the workshop because he was looking for something, but.. hey, if he spots a woman he knows, might as well at least go and chat with her for a bit, right? Better than just randomly wandering around, either way. ]

Yo! [ apparently he doesn't even care if he's distracting her or not, since he's just grinning as he wanders in.. ] Working on something?

[technologic]

[April doesn't seem to mind being distracted, as she turns to him and gives him a small smile.]

Ah, hi! And yeah, I am, though I've kinda hit a block with it...

[tsunball]

[ He walks over enough to be able to stare at the device, although.. well, he's pretty dumb, so obviously he doesn't understand a lot about it. ]

Why? Can't figure out how to get it to work?

[technologic]

Pretty much. I lack some of the necessary parts I need, and improvising isn't working. [She huffs a sigh and rubs her forehead.]

[tsunball]

Well, it's true that there's hardly any shit to find in this place.. especially when you're trying to make something that complicated.

.. What are you trying to make either way?

[That might have hurt if it had fallen on him.]

[Which is why April is glad she managed to stop it from falling.]

Um, besides the falling towers of books, not really. I'm just doing some research.

On what I asked you about, or something else?

On what you asked me to do. I'm not sure if a cell phone would be possible, but I'm doing research into that along with alternatives.

They're complicated to make from scratch with limited materials. I thought we might have to settle for something else.

Laboratory

[Jin'd been working on something in here himself for quite a while. He was settled at a table off to the side, assembling something that required various wires and chemicals. When someone else showed up however, he had at first remained silent (and easily missable), but eventually spoke up while she was mumbling.]

Looking for something?

[technologic]

[April almost jumps in surprise at hearing him, since she was so engrossed in looking for what she needs, but she does tense up before turning to face him.]

Um, y-yes... I'm, uh, looking computer parts.

[morituramfides]

[Oh. Now this was interesting. Something he actually had expertise in?]

That so? You'd have better luck trying to take apart the terminals. [Yeah he's tried, what of it--] What for, if you don't mind me asking?

[technologic]

Yeah, that's probably true. [She rubs the back of her neck, frowning in thought.]... And, ah, it's cause I've been asked to make a commuincations device of some sort.

A communication device?

[....Hm. Hang on, the gears in his head are turning.]

I don't think this place even has the proper resources for it. I'd go so far as to say they made sure of that on purpose.
