Fellowship of Animus | First Council of Sages

Characters: THE FELLOWSHIP OF ANIMUS aka pretty much everyone
Setting: Floor 38, early afternoon - forward-dated to July 29
Format: Party style - pick your poison
Summary: After repeated delays, Zelda and Gandalf have finally called the populace of the Tower to discuss productive means of dealing with their situation.
Warnings: None yet, will edit should something come up

It's taken far too long to get to this point.

Come Sunday, the various couches and armchairs of the uppermost lounge have been arranged in vaguely semi-circle-like patterns, with chairs from other floors scattered amongst them to increase seating even more. The semi-circles face inwards towards a central point to facilitate discussion among a large group of people. Though this is by no means a party, small slices of Lembas bread are available on tables around the perimeter - though there is no shortage of food, the hungry tend to be less cooperative, all the same.

Outside, the sun shines brightly without a cloud to obstruct it, but the atmosphere inside is much less carefree. Considering the purpose of gathering here this day, it's to be expected. Should this council succeed, it may very well change life in the Tower as everyone knows it. If not, well... one should certainly hope individual efforts begin to bear more fruit than they have in the past.

[The gentle Sage had no place in a heated argument. Mostly because she remained conflicted.]

[There is good in every person, and Link was right that they had much greater things to fight.]

[But at the same time, there were those like Ganondorf. Who corrupted her home, tried to strangle the forest into a slow and agonizing death. People like him...weren't even people.]

[And he wasn't the only person like that here.]

[But leaving Link to fend for himself was inexcusable. She should've been able to do something, even if she had no answer for their argument. It was something small she could do, but Saria immediately went to her friend's side once the meeting ended.]

Link...

[He pauses when Saria says his name. He looks like he's about to say something, but he decides against it. He starts to continue out the door.]

[Though Darunia stood by what he said, and felt it was indeed, the truth - he did feel terrible over having a hand in causing Link to shut down back there. Perhaps he had been too quick to let his anger and passion get the best of him - it had run rather high after finding out that Ganondorf was in this tower, and that all their work had failed.

He steps up near Saria, and reaches out to put a hand on the boy's shoulder. He wasn't sure just how to go about this, though. The wisdom that came with his position unfortunately had its limits.]

Brother.

[... damn.]

I'm fine. [He doesn't turn.]

[The Sage of Fire did inspire Saria, if only for the passion. She knew his intentions were good, but the way Link was right now...]

[Actually perhaps Saria needed all the help she could get.]

Link please...don't...

[Don't run away. Don't act like you're completely alone in this because you're not.]

[Darunia's hand simply rests there - little in the way of weight or grip. He's put enough on the boy's shoulders today, so a lighter touch is needed.]

I... Should apologize, for my fervor. I could have certainly handled things better there. Even if I disagreed, I should not have shown my Brother disrespect.

[Saria glanced over to Darunia for the briefest second. Her eyes pleaded:]

[Please don't let him go.]

[Because she needed to let this out.]

Then why do you act like you were the only one who did? [No Link, you're not getting off by this self pity.] You try so hard for everyone, so why?
wildfiresage: (Scowling is my default face.)

[Okay, his grip will tighten some - spurred on both by Link's words, and Saria's look.]

You do not have to bear so much, Brother - not here. That is why this meeting was held.

[And just to make sure you weren't getting way from the friendship, Fado followed Zelda and stood before them, blocking the path to the door (albeit with his small stature) with his arms and violin folded behind his back.]

You were not wrong to say such things; in fact there was truth to your words. Truth to everyone's words. [After all, Ganondorf had not entirely betrayed the last break in mission....]

...But even a Hero cannot always handle it alone. And he doesn't have to.

[Why? Link can't help but think when Zelda hugs him. In that moment, he feels oddly detached from what's happening. Why all of these people... for me?

It isn't self-pity. He just feels... so helpless. He doesn't have the answers. He doesn't even know where to start looking. He has searched the tower high and low, he has made it into the control room, and still... nothing. He hasn't moved forward or backward. He had thought that maybe the Triforce would be the answer. He had thought that if they had just worked together...

Even setting aside any illogical emotional reactions, it was proven, by many people with different points, that that wouldn't work, either. There is no movement. He's trapped. And that's what makes his heart pound in his chest hardest of all.]

I'm tired, [he finds himself saying. His voice is so small. He swallows, and makes an effort to speak louder.]
I'm just... so tired.

[Darunia pulls his hand back once Zelda moves in, and after Link speaks up, he finds himself at a loss. Confusion and shock are very clear on his face - and maybe even a slight bit of fear. This was the hero to his people - the Legendary Dodongo-Buster. The hero to Hyrule as a whole. The Hero of Time.

As much as he had heard of terrible things going down in this tower, it hadn't shaken him just yet, but seeing Link here, like this - worn down, broken...

That put fear in his heart.]

[Just as the fear nestled into Darunia's heart, Fado's face fell to a dulled expression, much less lively than his usual spirited disposition. It was something he was quickly suspecting-- and the admission from both him and the Princess was...dazing, at the least.

Still, with the other two Sages' silence, he felt he had to bring something to say.]

...It's true; such solitude for either of you would do no one any service. [And here his smile brightened just a tad.] And is it not a Sage's duty to lend their energy to those in need?
