haha I never put log titles unless it's idiots abound part whatever
Characters: Waver and open
Setting: Room 1-16/hallways, floors 45, 19, 14
Format: Starting with action but I can match
Summary: 7am waking up in the morning gotta explore the tower
Rating: Uhhhh should be pretty PG
Warnings: Nothing really...
Room 1-16 / hallway
[As soon as Waver is able to move, he jumps up from the bed, desperately looking around. He's also sure to check his right hand, but as there's nothing there, he quickly sees the last few days of calm weren't anything like a dream.
After noticing the letters and reading them over twice, he sets them aside. What's written there can't possibly be true, nothing could destroy the entire world so suddenly. Knowing that is a relief, but, he's still trapped somewhere unfamiliar. He quickly finds his trunk and the contents, swapping that awful bodysuit for a good sensible set of clothes immediately. ...And, underneath those, a book. He bends down to pick it up and turns it over to read the title. The Iliad, that same new but worn out copy. After thinking on it for a moment, he goes back to his bed and sets it under the pillow. That's what Alexander was said to have done, after all, right?]
Floor 45
[An observatory, that's perfect! He can get a good look at what lies outside the tower, maybe even spot where there might be somewhere to get outside. He stands up against the window, placing his hands on it to steady himself as he tries to look out.
He sighs.]
Nothing but clouds, huh...that's useless...
[As he begins to look up again, he shouts, falling backwards and trying to scramble away from the creature which had been face-to-face with him. Even though he was only just pressed up against the glass himself, he's completely forgotten it's there between them and can only stare in horror at the thing staring straight back at him.]
Floor 19
[After exploring the tower, Waver returns to the library. He wants to get through as much as he can right away, but with the size of the library, and there being two, even he knows it will have to be done over a period of time, not all in one sitting. Even so, he goes down the aisles, scanning for anything that looks like like it might contain relevant information. Anything which might give a better understanding of the tower and its intents. If he's especially lucky - maybe a book on magic which he might use to escape.
Going between the rows of shelves with a pile of books in his arms, stacked up to his chin, which he rests on them to keep the precarious stack stead, suddenly he notices something. The section clearly marked 'history' is entirely empty - the section which was sure to be most useful to him. Several books from the top fall from his stack as he whips around to be sure it hasn't simply moved over to the next shelf, or that his eyes are otherwise playing tricks on him. And then he throws the others down, shaking his head and gripping his it with both hands.]
Aah, what the hell?! You're kidding me, right?! Hey, someone forgot to put the books away, you can't just leave a whole section empty...!
Floor 14
[Through the stress of the day, around the time that would be called 'after dinner', Waver heads back to his room and slips a game into the front of his sweater (first checking no one will see, of course). He then goes down to the media room and finds a good corner to wind down and set up Admirable War Tactics.]

He sighed, gathering up a few books from the floor.
"If I won, it would have proved my skill. And if I won, I would gain respect through my wish. It doesn't matter what they would think of the war itself. People aren't supposed to know the details."
no subject
Tohko sighed and helped Waver gather a few books from the floor. "It does matter, if people are going to remember you. After all, people just don't focus on your end goal-they also look at what you did to get to it. And why can't they know the details?"
no subject
He paused. There was more to it than that, the Magus Association's need for control, keeping the knowledge from non-mages...

"The Grail choses seven Masters itself, you can't just suddenly become part of it. First you need to make the proper preparations and go to the city it's held in. If there aren't enough qualified people wanting to become Masters in that way, it will chose others in the city to fill those positions. Apparently that's usually how it is because the war is so well hidden." Another pause. How they hide the war is a good question.
"It's mostly just kept quiet, I guess. But for the most part, it's hidden from the residents of the city, the great majority of them don't know of the existence of magic, after all."
no subject
"Hang on here. By grail, are you talking about the Holy Grail? And even if only a few people are chosen for this war, that still doesn't explain why people don't notice it or the magic being flung around? And who covers up this war? This Magus Organization? Why?" Tohko sighed.
First a woman that had connections to a modern-day Knights of The Round Table group back at her home world, and now this..
no subject
"Ah- yes, it's the Holy Grail. I suppose it's the Magus Association and the church working together to hide it. It's a bit of a secluded area, there are really only two magus families in the area, and they both participate. No one wants word to get out, so they're all careful about having their fights in empty areas and not dragging anyone else into it. It's also possible to erase or alter memory."
no subject
She then scratched her head as she took in this new information. Normally, she would point out that the 'holy grail' was just an ordinary wooden cup, as Jesus was dirt poor and couldn't afford a golden, expensive cup. However, maybe this world was a bit different in that regard. Interesting.
"I see. I think I understand..but why is the church involved? Wouldn't they want the grail all to themselves? And it's a little sad that you guys alter and erase the memory of whoever gets caught up in your fights."
no subject
He sighed and rubbed his head, frowning.
"They oversee the war and protect Masters who have lost their Servants. It would be pretty complicated to explain further than that. The church and the Magus Association are at odds, but also work together. I didn't see anyone alter memories of bystanders, but it's something that could be done if needed. Well...I made an old couple believe I was their grandson so I could stay with them, but that's it!"
no subject
Tohko then smiled. "I see. I think I get it now. Even though I don't like the idea of altering with or messing with memories, you're a pretty good person, Waver."
no subject
He couldn't help but to grin at that - all of it. Heheh, he was a good person, wasn't he? And the offer to keep quiet was much appreciated.
"Well, 'my grandfather' figured it out anyway, but he didn't tell his wife and allowed me to stay even after. I was still with them when I came here. They were good people."
no subject
"Well, I'd be a pretty poor book girl if I couldn't follow something like this. And I would appreciate it if you didn't alter my memory. I have some things in here that are very important to me." Tohko tapped her head to get the point across. Besides, if he went poking through her memories, he might discover that she was a book eater.
"Well, that was pretty nice of him..but why didn't you just go live with your grandfather? Were they too far away from the city?"
no subject
He kept grinning a moment longer, until her last point started to sink in.
"...I...well, yes, the war was in Japan, where as I'm from England. But I don't have any family, so, it's not possible regardless."
no subject
"Which that's nice, it would be a pain for me to have to meet you all over again. And it'd be kind of sad for you. Come to think of it..how do you erase memories anyway? With magic?"
At the last sentence, Tohko sighed again and looked a little sad. "I'm sorry to hear that. I know my words don't mean much, but I know what it's like to lose family, and it hurts."
So that's why he had to manipulate that old couple's memories. He had lost his parents and the rest of his family, and his grandfather, the only remaining person left, was too far away to help.
no subject
He smiled slightly once again, it didn't tend to bother him anymore, but it's still difficult to think about being the only one left.
"Well, it's not so bad. If I hadn't inherited everything, I wouldn't have been able to afford my schooling, so I just have to be sure to make it worthwhile."
no subject
Tohko nodded. "Well, that's good. Hopefully you'll do well in school. What are you learning?"
no subject
Waver winked - back on the topic he was so proud of. He preferred to just not think about anything troubling rather than address it.
no subject
"That's pretty awesome! The closest thing we have back home to magic is technology and stories. While I love stories, it's not quite the same thing as using magic. Although..I guess it's a private school, since magic is supposed to be kept secret."
Things like that tended to happen with magical schools in stories.
no subject
He was always a fan of detective fiction, and it just didn't work to use magic in them, there was no mystery if the answer could be 'magic'.
"It's run by the Magus Association itself, so it's the most private of private schools. They wouldn't accept me at first, but they gave in."
no subject
Tohko was a book girl. While she loved Sherlock Homes and Lupin, she also loved fantasy stories.
Tohko nodded at that. "That makes sense. What did you do to convince them?"
no subject
He blinked. He'd...never heard anyone talk about books that way.
"I studied harder and showed them how much I could do on my own, simply through effort! They just brushed me off at first because I'm only the third magus of my family. But then they saw how great I am despite it!"
no subject
She then smiled. "That's great! I'm happy that you managed to show them what you're capable of! Hopefully you'll be able to get home soon so that you can continue to do so."
no subject
It seemed like quite a strange comparison to make, but, it made some sense, anyway.
"I wasn't planning to go back yet...I was taking a break in Japan for a while...also I needed to get a job to buy a plane ticket back home."
He sighed. Rider had spent so much of his money on useless things that Waver couldn't afford to go back to England. Well, he could, but just barely.
"More importantly, I shouldn't show my face there for a little while until the repercussions of the war blow over."
His professor had been killed, and while his death wasn't Waver's fault, he had stolen the item sent from Macedonia which his professor had intended to use to summon a Servant. And everyone knew Waver had done it. It could easily be argued it was his fault, if Instructor Archibald had made a contract with Alexander, he may not have died. But Waver stole that artifact and made the contract instead, leaving the instructor to find another. He definitely wouldn't be greeted happily.
no subject
Tohko sighed. "I'm sorry...I wasn't clear. I meant when you went back to your home world. But hopefully people will forget about the war and let it all blow over so that you can go home when you get back to your world."
Tohko hoped she was making sense here.

It had only just dawned on him to think of it that way - and when he did, it really was a great opportunity. If he could go home to the same moment he left, then it could be like suddenly improving in seconds.
