ᴇɴᴛʀʏ ᴏɴᴇ
Characters: Yukiteru and YOU
Setting: Room 2-20 & Cafeteria
Format: Prose initially, but I'll match!
Summary: Yukki arrives the morning after the 'happy end.' He's not taking it well.
Warnings: A kid dangerously close to going into shock after all he's been through;; also spoilers for Mirai Nikki.
Room 2-20:
The poor kid is obviously freezing. It's quite a jump from a moderate climate like Japan in mid-summer to the frigid temperatures like this; combine that with the fact that he's here at all, and everything that had happened just before arriving here, and it's a miracle he hasn't completely gone into shock yet. Operative word here: yet.
He's seated on his bed, the blankets wrapped tightly around himself, including a bright blue blanket that looked as if it had seen a lot of wear and tear over the years. There's an open cellphone on his lap, plugged into a nearby wall, and he's been staring at it intently since he arrived here.
UNKNOWN DATE, 12:19 PM :: A NEW LIFE BEGINS IN THE TOWER.
There is no entry after this. He's never had that problem before, and it really doesn't help his state of mind right now. And 'unknown date?'
... Yes. Of course. They failed. He and Yuno both did. It's the only conclusion, and it perfectly explains what he read in those letters. The world was destroyed, time and space torn asunder by what Deus warned them about. The Survival Game was over, and nobody won. It was true, then... Yuno did love him, despite her attempts to persuade both of them otherwise. She couldn't kill him any more than he could kill her. And he couldn't have thought of a worse way to confirm what he already knew than this.
Yukiteru falls sideway onto his bed, wrapping the blankets tigher around himself. It's hard to tell if the shaking is caused by stress, or just shivering.
Cafeteria
Yukki has been sitting there for a while, staring at the oatmeal. He's tried to make it a bit better; but he can't eat it. He hasn't touched it, and it isn't from the fact that he knows it's going to taste bad. He just has no appetite right now, and he hasn't for 24 hours now, from the time he woke up in his own world, to when he woke up here, knowing what was going to happen that day. This could have been a five-star steak and he still wouldn't have wanted to eat it. Especially not in this temperature.
It's clear to anyone who sees him he's upset, and hasn't taken to the Tower well at all. Especially since he hasn't seen hide nor hair of Yuno since arriving here, and if he's here for the reason he thinks he is, then surely she has to be, as well. After all, isn't it both of their faults their universe was destroyed? Through their inaction?
He doesn't want to think about it, but he can't help it. The Survival Game has now officially taken everything from him, including, as it would appear, Yuno. He had nothing left to lose. And as it would appear, nothing to gain, either.
He closes his eyes, and looks down, fighting back tears.

There's nothing left to harm, now.
"The Survival Game," he began, quietly. "Deus Ex Machine - ... well, God, I guess - needed to pick someone to replace him. He was dying, and his death would cause the apocalypse. So he gave people Future Diaries" - he paused, taking his cellphone out of his pocket. Still no future update. Whatever this place is, it's messing with it, somehow - "and made us all kill each other until there was only one of us left. Whoever won became the new God. It was down to me and... someone else."

"Why was god forcing people to kill each other in order to pick his successor? That seems unnecessarily cruel..and I'm sorry to hear that...it must have been terrible to go up against your friend. However..maybe someone else got picked to be the god of your universe. Maybe god was just messing with you and had a spare successor picked out all this time."
no subject
"No, he wouldn't have made a spare... though 'messing with us' kind of describes just about everything he did. Besides, the only person he made who could have been that was killed." Akise. Yukki didn't exactly want to see him die, but damn it, he should have known better than to kiss him right in front of Yuno or think she'd be dumb enough to have her Future Diary out where it could be smashed. Just because he had it coming doesn't mean Yukki wanted to see it actually happen.

Tohko knew what Jesus had died for, but that seemed a bit bigger than a small game like this. God could have just picked out another successor peacefully or let his son handle the whole thing if he was going to die. Then again, this guys god and the Christian god in Tohko's world might have been different entity's in personality.

"He should be, yeah." Actually, that's kind of a good point... in his hysteria, Yukki didn't think of that. Deus was way too smart to leave open the possibility of nobody winning the Survival Game.
It was still a moot point, howver. "But... that doesn't change the facts, does it? I'm here. Which means, my universe is..."
no subject
Tohko sighed and shook her head. "You have to listen to people when they talk. I told you-there are people here who wouldn't even be able to exist if their universe was destroyed. Therefore, the Administrators are lying about that fact, and therefore, your world is fine! It's probably still safe!"
no subject
... but what she says kind of makes sense... even if he's never met anyone other than Deus himself (and maybe Murumuru) whose existence is dependent upon the universe itself, and vice-versa.
... that leaves one other option.
"Is this the afterlife?" Maybe Yuno did kill him, after all.
no subject
Tohko smiled at that comment. "I don't think it is. I think this is a different world. An alternate universe. After all, you can still die here..even if you do come back the next day."
no subject
She doesn't think it is. Well, that's reassuring. Until she mentioned how death isn't permanent here. "How is that even possible?" he asks, totally stunned, his mouth agape. He's normally not this quick to believe something that outlandish, but after all the completely unexplainable things he's seen in the last few hours (let alone last few months), frankly, he'd believe just about anything at this point.
no subject
Tohko sighed at his question. "I don't know. I honestly don't know. It's something the Administrators do, but I have no idea how they do it. However, I have died here about three times. I can assure you that I'm not lying."
no subject
They can bring people back from the dead. Something not even Deus himself could do, or him, if he became the new god. That was his sole silver lining in those horrible things Yuno inadvertently talked him into doing during the survival game. 'It was okay,' he told himself. 'I'll bring them back. They'll have a happier life after.'
And now, not only was his world destroyed so he'd never even have the opportunity to try, but the people here can bring people back from the dead and torture them some more. Talk about a slap in the face.
If this place is the afterlife, it has to be hell. Not that he doesn't deserve to be here if it is.

It figures. It's not enough for his universe to be destroyed, Yuno being nowhere in sight, and for him to be reminded at every turn just how much he's lost. This place has to add insult to injury, too.
"No... it's okay, don't apologize. It's not like I should be expecting a whole lot more, anyway." Even his Future Diary was being maddeningly unhelpful right now.

Probably not. If she was in even a similar mindset to how she was before he woke up here... she's taking this even worse than he was. Woe to anyone who crossed her path right now.

"I'm sorry, I haven't seen her. However, if I do find her, I'll drag her over to you, alright?"

Understatement of the year, but he's really, really hoping Tohko gets the picture without him having to go into more detail. Yukki isn't stupid, he knows full well what Yuno's capable of at this point. And somehow, he's not optimistic that a change in scenery will do much good, if at all.
no subject
Tohko nodded. "Alright then. That shouldn't be too hard. I'll just have to tell her that I'm not interested in you like that. I..don't like anyone like that right now.."
Well, that was an outright lie. However, Tohko knew that her feelings for Enoch were better left unsaid. They would only hurt him in the long run. Better to let them die on the vine and have him suffer their parting less than tell him and have their parting really wound him. However, getting those feelings to die wasn't easy.
no subject
He doubts it. Yuno... wasn't exactly reasonable. "Be careful around her."
no subject
Tohko grinned. She wasn't the type to make enemies easily-unless the person was something like Ganon-so she would probably be alright.
