The Book Girl and The Egg.
Characters: Tohko Amano and Wretched Egg for the first part and anyone else for the second!
Setting: The third floor and then the infirmary.
Format: Either prose or action!
Summary: Tohko meets Wretched Egg and finds out that Shiro isn't all that she seems. She then tries to find out what's wrong with her in the infirmary.
Warnings: Violence, since this will involve Wretched Egg.
Despite the chill and how poorly she felt, Tohko was still going about her library duties, sneezing over her shoulder occasionally and almost tripping over small corners. While she never made a mistake in cleaning, today she was making a few, as she sometimes put a book in the wrong spot. After she did this for the third time, she sighed.
"I really need to visit the clinic after this.."
Tohko, having found that the drones weren't much help in giving her medical advice, was looking over some of the pills, trying to decide which ones were the best to take. Tylenol? Advil? Or some of the other, weird and unusual bottles? Normally, she would have just stuck with the cold medicine on the shelf, but she was feeling so out of it that she was starting to consider other options.

"It was a superhero Ganta admired. Because he was stronger than he'd ever be. ...But I guess Shiro liked him too. Especially if she told you so." She gave her a Cheshire Cat smile while she kept staring at her through half-lidded eyes. "After all, Shiro never lies~"
It was Wretched Egg's turn to step back but only to keep the book out of Tohko's reach.
"Why? Are you feeling hungry, Tohko~?"
no subject
"I see..so, because Ganta liked him, Shiro did too..and I suppose you lie then, if Shiro never does."
At the mentioning of her true nature, Tohko bit her lip.
"..No, I'm not. I'm planning on giving that book to a friend, as a Christmas present. By that comment, I'm guessing you know everything Shiro does."
no subject
Tohko had guessed right. Wretched Egg did know everything Shiro did. Shiro however did not know everything Wretched Egg knew, nor did she remember any of the things Wretched Egg did. That was how it worked.
"Indeed I do." She opened the book, ruffling through the pages. "So it's a Christmas present for a friend? How interesting~" Wretched Egg's looked up at Tohko and her look had visibly. "Are you planning on getting Christmas presents to all of your friends, then?"
no subject
Tohko nodded at her question. "I'm going to try! Most of my plans had to be changed though, thanks to Jason. He got rid of the ingredients in the kitchen. I was planning on making Shiro a large cake..but now, she'll have to settle for a white cat plush." Tohko paused for a moment, thinking over something.
"Erm..Shiro won't know of that, right? Or does the connection between you two run both ways?"
no subject
"A cat plush?" Wretched Egg chuckled, a cold and low sound. "So you're giving one of your precious books to a friend and Shiro's getting a white cat plush? Obviously you like that friend better than you like Shiro."
Wretched Egg seemed to ponder whether or not she'd answer that question before she finally did. "She won't. Unless I decide to tell her."
no subject
At the accusation, Tohko shook her head. "T-That's not it at all! I adore Shiro! She's like a sweet, younger sister. However..I just thought she would like a cute white cat plush better than that book." Plus, she was planning on putting her confession inside that book. A love letter might go down a bit more smoothly with a good love story. But she wasn't going to mention that.
"Besides..I like white cat plushes and books. Sure, I eat books and know a lot about them, but I'd be sad if I couldn't see either of them or just one but not the other."
Tohko sighed again. "Please don't tell her, I would like it to be a surprise."
no subject
Wretched Egg considered her for the longest time as she said that. She was right. Shiro would enjoy the white cat plush. But Wretched Egg wasn't going to tell that to Tohko. "A younger sister? As in you think you could easily use her affection for you to manipulate her?"
She seemed to ponder this for a moment before nodding. "Alright. I won't tell her but you'll owe me one, then~"
no subject
Once again, Tohko shook her head. "No, of course not! I wouldn't do that. An older sibling wouldn't do that to their younger ones. I like Shiro. I'd like to help her out with whatever she faces here."
Tohko then sighed. It seemed like she was owing a lot of people. She owed Wilhelm, Nesir thought she was owed, and now Wretched Egg. "Alright then. Thank you."
no subject
"So nice and selfless~ And how could a weakling like you even hope to help her?" Wretched Egg had no idea what older siblings were supposed to do so she chose not to comment on that.
"So who's that book for~?" Since she still hadn't given it back. But she was reading its summary as she talked.
no subject
Tohko sighed. "I'd help her any way I can. I admit, I'm not that strong, but even though I'm weak, I'll still help her out with whatever she needs help with."
"..And I'm planning on giving that book to Enoch. Why do you ask?"
no subject
"People always say that. Until the time comes to actually act upon their promises." Said quietly, with a wave of her hand. She had no reason to believe Tohko would be any different.
"He's not from your world, is he? So what's so special about him?" And if Tohko got the feeling that Wretched Egg just ignored her question, she'd be right about that.
no subject
"Some people might change their tune, but I can promise you that I won't." While Tohko would never admit it, she was as stubborn as hell and would have a hard time giving up on people.
Tohko sighed again and gave a smile that looked half-happy and half-sad.
"He may not be from my universe, which will make the parting all the harder, but..he's the kindest person I have ever known. It's hard to say exactly what is so special about him though. His stories, his voice, his small chuckles..almost everything about him is special to me.
..However, you still haven't answered my question."
no subject
Wretched Egg chuckled. "Sounds like you're very much in love with that boy indeed~
Because I wanted to know. Why else would I have asked?"
no subject
She then nodded. "I am..but it'd be an insult to him to call him a boy, I think. He probably wouldn't like that. And I'm just curious as to why you wanted to know."
no subject
"Curiosity." And it was always useful for her to know that kind of things.
no subject
She then sighed. "And what's the reason for the curiosity?"
no subject
"Curiosity is a reason in itself~" Wretched Egg singsonged. "Why would I need another?"
no subject
Tohko then sighed again. "Curiosity is a reason in itself, but I doubt that's the only reason you have."
no subject
Wretched Egg tsked. "Aww come on, Book Girl. We've only barely met and you already hold so much prejudice against me~"
no subject
Tohko sighed at that. "I don't hold prejudice against you..it's just that when a character in a books says they're just asking questions because they're curious, something there's more reasons for the question rather than being just curious."
no subject
She chuckled. "Ksha~ But books aren't real life, you know~ You're a big girl now. You should be able to understand that~"
no subject
After all, her parents were pretty important to her. She couldn't just push someone else into their spots in her heart.
Tohko then sighed, getting even more annoyed.
"They may not be exactly the same, but books can show you different aspects and parts of reality that you would never be able to experience otherwise, and they can help you with odd situations! So, it's not a bad idea to turn to them when you're stuck!"
no subject
"I suppose it makes weak people feel better to think that way~"
no subject
"I'm a little bit taller than you, so I'm not little. And I don't see why he would be..after all, our interactions haven't really been like a father-daughter relationship at all, at least, as far as I see them.
And I won't deny that I am a little weak. However, books can do that for everyone, whether you're weak or strong."
no subject
Wretched Egg hummed absentmindedly. "Or so weak people say~. You should find yourself a better weapon."
