Setting: Floors 1-6

Summary: After what happened here, Catarina is taking her guilt and anger out on monsters and anything in her path
Warnings: Gore, usual succubus shenanigans

[It started fairly innocently. The first floor was as clean as it usually was, until the stairs were encountered. Once there, it was obvious someone had fought a monster and had a few aggression issues to take out. It was a bloody affair with bits and pieces scattered in quite a few places, but other than that, it wasn't that bad.]

[The following floors had worse. It looked like someone had started to go out of their way to find monsters, the aggression becoming worse and worse. As the carnage started to get worse, there started to be the sound of a woman laughing maniacally. Close to the sixth floor was the source, one Catarina Amanto covered in blood, guts, and possibly little else, knife in her hand and eyes wild. She was laughing still, looking around for her next victim.]

[Catarina leaned into the touch, smiling slightly]

Mm. I was wondering why the cold seemed more biting than usual.

Self-sacrifice is the trait of a hero, my dear. I know that is something you are not.

Now, may I pick you up or do you still wish to run from me?

[She smiled at her words] I am glad you remember that.

I won't run, but do not make me feel trapped. The animal... is still close to the surface.

[Saber leaned in to kiss her softly before easily picking Catarina up as if she were a princess. Her eyes closed a moment and the blackened armor faded, leaving the knight in her black dress.]

Is this satisfactory?

[She growled lightly, without thinking about it]

It's not... bad.

Shh... Calm thyself, my dear. Focus on my ambient prana. It will warm your body and help soothe the soul.

[Saber begins to slowly walk toward the elevator, her arms steady but less holding and more supporting of Catarina's weight. It would be easy for her to slide out of the king's arms.]

[Catarina pressed her lips against Saber's shoulder, doing just as Saber said. Now familiar darkness... Familiar friendly darkness... yes, this was good. This was okay. The growling quieted]

[The king smiled.]

Much better... Things will be better when you are clean and warm. Perhaps some rest.

[She chuckled slightly] As if taking care of a pet or a small child?

Or a woman who has emotionally spent herself enough for several days. There were days when court was too much for my wife and I would need to carry her to our chambers for her attendants saw to her.

To do so always calmed her.

[Saber sees no reason why it would be different for any other woman.]

... Oh. [Catarina rested against her, blinking] I see.

[Hm.]

Does it surprise you that I was once married?

It's a human thing, correct? Marriage?

Yes. Most humans are monogamous, loving only one other, and marrying to carry on tradition and continuing the family line.

As king... I was required to wed.

It's not a tradition that makes much sense to me, nor does the fact it could be required of one.

A king must have a queen.

Or so I was told by my counsel that knew I was female born. It was to maintain the appearance that I was male, to keep the people's faith in me by following societal norms as much as I was possible. I was even required to have an heir, though I never recognized my son as my legitimate heir.

There are many requirements a king must obey if he is to be a good king. Though I did not truly love Guinevere as a husband is to love a wife as it was a marriage of arrangement, I did care greatly for her. She suffered a great burden by being my queen, knowing the truth of my gender.

Humans have many traditions and views that make little sense.

If the truth of your birth was to be revealed in your world, you as well would have been seen low as well... [Catarina reached a hand up, touching Saber's face] Did you love her as a woman?

I loved her as much as I could knowing her heart belonged to another. I was grateful for that as he could ease the burden I placed upon her, able to love her as a man is to love a woman and bring her proper pleasure.

She and I presented ourselves as was necessary in public, but I never took her to bed. I fathered my son out of treachery. [yes, fathered] If you wonder why I was able to resist your manipulations initially, it is because I had fallen to such wiles before by one far more fiendish than you could ever be. [Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me was the saying...]

[Remind her to tell you about how demons can reproduce sometime...]

I see. It's a bit sad to hear that one already ruined your feelings in such a way. It certainly would have made things easier for me... though I suppose I would not have heard so much about you if that had been true.

[As long as they didn't involve ancient magics from a cracked old man (Merlin) giving women temporary working male parts, all will be well.]

That is true. Perhaps you will find the wait well worth it.

I do hope so. I am aware I've said this before, but the little tastes are so tantalizing.

I have been told by another here that I apparently like playing 'hard to get' too much. I am not sure that is accurate.
