Summary: Today seems to be a day of discoveries.

[Floor 100]

[It's bittersweet, seeing Destiny Islands 'in person' for the first time. It isn't a memory, this time, but it's not real, either. Standing in what passes for sand on the small island with the bent tree looking out over the water, she cannot help but frown. She'd wanted to see this place for such a long time, but... not like this.]


[Floor 80]

[Blinking in the bright lights, Naminé is at first quite disoriented by this floor. It's very bright and colorful and perhaps in any other place she'd be thrilled by that, except this is the Tower, after all, and thus she is immediately on her guard. But that diminishes slowly over time as she lingers, having a long look around with more than a little interest. It's only her caution that keeps her from straying too close to anyone, including the clowns, but one can't always keep an eye on everyone, now can they?]


[Floor 78]

[The newly opened package hits the ground, the contents bouncing out and landing with a clatter. Naminé looks down at it for only a moment before reflexively stooping to put the tiny bird cage back in its place, her fingers leaving it as quickly as possible and then pushing the package back against the doors of the boxes nearest the floor, a hand moving to press over her mouth. She'd been startled enough to have received a package so suddenly in the first place. She'd just had to open it, hadn't she? Perhaps holding it so delicately, caution still present, had been what made her lose her grip of it in her surprise at the contents. Either way, now she frowns down at it, hesitating as though she's uncertain what to do with this development - because she is.]


[Floor 51]

[There's a blonde young lady leaning over one of the sewing machines, peering at it curiously. She inspects it thoroughly, at first only by sight but slowly moving on to messing with the buttons and, after a while, the pedal - which seems to startle her at first, but she soldiers through it. It's obvious that she hasn't the faintest idea how to use such a thing, but she seems to have taken an interest in it nevertheless.]

Of the science type. We can pierce the heavens and even bridge different worlds with it.

[lethechained]

[She blinks, straightening slightly.] Really? Can anyone just-- go to whatever world they please, or is it only for certain people?

[terreifying]

We've only traveled to one world using the Dirac sea, but as long as we can access it, it's theoretically possible for anyone to jump to any universe.

[lethechained]

... Huh. [She's quiet a moment, considering this.] What is it like? How does it work?

[terreifying]

Well, a Dirac is a space between dimensions. An infinite, but mappable pocket that you can store things in. Anyone in any universe with the right equipment can make an entrance into the Dirac. If you have two entrances, either one can act as an exit as well.

[lethechained]

...! [Now that sounds familiar. She hesitates, eyeing the other girl for a moment.] And this Dirac... what does it look like?

[terreifying]

Oh, it's sort of big and black and depending on where you are, stuff floats in it.

[lethechained]

.... [Kind of like the Darkness, except with less 'things' and more monsters--]

... Are there any side effects or dangers?

[terreifying]

You could get lost and drift in there for all of eternity.

[lethechained]

That's it? No monsters, or side effects? [Not that that isn't a terrifying enough prospect on its own, but--]

[terreifying]

Not that I know about.

[lethechained]

... Hm. [So it's something similar to the Corridors of Darkness, perhaps - but not identical. Curious. (Naminé, you're getting lost in your thoughts.)]

[terreifying]

[Rei notices the sudden silence.]

Huh...? Is something the matter?

[lethechained]

-- Oh! I'm sorry, no-- I was just... thinking about some things. I didn't realize that such a thing existed in your world. [Or her universe, more likely.]

[terreifying]

I haven't gotten the chance to talk much to anyone about the science in my world.

[A pause.]

Then what about your world? Does it run on science or magic?

[lethechained]

I know the feeling. [There's plenty she's never been able to talk about either. She pauses, then,]

... A bit of both, I think.

[terreifying]

[She nods.]

Have you ever seen it in action?

[lethechained]

... Yes. A number of times.

[Not that that explains too much - but then, that's sort of the point.]

[terreifying]

Ever get to pilot a giant robot?

[lethechained]

--! No...? I don't think I've ever even seen a giant robot...! [It sounds like the sort of thing Sora would be into, though.]

[terreifying]

Oh, that's too bad. I had one back in my world. His name was Go-kun.

[lethechained]

Really? ... What did you use him for?

[terreifying]

Killing giant monsters.

[What else did you use a giant robot for?]

[lethechained]

-- Your world had those? So, was... that your job, then?

[terreifying]

Yep! I'm an EVA pilot!
