A few minutes before anything happens, Ruana's voice rings out over the Tower's intercom--it manages to be louder than anything the residents happen to be doing. "Hey, everyone, there's something exciting going on at floor fifty-six! Go make sure they don't get themselves killed!"


You arrive, stepping or tumbling, in a surgical suite. It looks abandoned, with dust collecting on the table and floors. The lights flicker, and for a moment blood dripping off the table, puddling on the floor--but no, the lights are back, and surely that was your imagination. It's quiet, eerily so, but nothing hinders you, and you're free to spread out and explore. There are multiple rooms here, like in any hospital, and it's all a bit confusing. Occasionally the lights flicker, and it's a bit frightening as Things appear that shouldn't exist. Shadowy creatures stitched together and reaching for you, doctors brandishing phantom surgical tools, blood splattering the walls or floor or ceiling, how did it get there--but none are real, and all of them vanish when the lights return. Eventually you find the staircase, spiraling up and down into darkness. Approach it, though, and the thing glitters with a barrier that will push back any attempts at climbing the thing.

A girl, a teenager dressed in red and black, appears. And she does simply appear, inserting herself into the space, nearly pushing it aside to make room in it for where she is now. Her face beams with unconcealed excitement, and her words tumble out on top of themselves. "You can't go there! Yet, I mean. You'd all die!"

The girl steps onto the staircase, passing through the barrier as if it weren't there, and sits on the steps to address everyone. "Hi! I'm Ruana. You didn't show up the normal way, so the Tower can't support you yet. We got this one floor ready when I saw you were coming but, well, the Tower's kind've big, so getting all of them set up is taking a little longer than I thought." She smiles, sheepishly apologetic in a carefree sort of way. "I've got everyone coming here to visit you--or at least they know they can visit you--and I'll have someone bring food up for you. It'll be oatmeal, and oatmeal is super boring, but you have to eat it, okay? Then you can have whatever you want! The cafeteria's down on the first floor if you get hungry. We should have everything ready in a few hours. I've gotta go help with that, so you guys wait here.

"Don't worry, the monsters can't get to this floor as long as that barrier is up."

And then she's gone, blinking out of existence. The barrier will remain for three hours.

[When she arrives, she arrives stumbling forward in her zero suit, wide awake and terribly aware of the dream she'd just had only moments earlier.

That masked man... what did he do now?

Looking around, Samus is quick to take in her surroundings. Another hospital...?

Then, the lights flicker--]

[Monsters appear before her eyes. Instead of reacting in terror, however, she smoothly moves into action, her Phazon Enhancement Device Suit appearing over her body, a deadly cannon appearing on her right arm.

As she takes aim, though, the monsters are... gone. Gone as quickly as they had appeared...]

[Samus spins around cautiously, looking for where the creatures had come from. Was her mind playing tricks on her??

You may come face to face with the barrel of her gun.]

[princessofheart]

Whoa, whoa! Easy there!

[HER HANDS ARE UP JFC]

[screwattack]

[Samus's scanners lock on Kairi and in a matter of seconds determine that she's quite human and not posing any threat to her at the moment.

She gets out of her defensive stance and stands up straight, lowering her gun.]

My apologies, I thought I saw something. [Her scanners hadn't picked up on it, though...

The bounty hunter takes a deep breath to calm her nerves.]

It's alright, everyone else saw things upon arriving as well. I think it might've been illusions of some sort.

[screwattack]

Everyone? [That actually comes as a huge relief. She wasn't going crazy yet, or at least any semblance of insanity was not due to the Phazon in her system. It was still under control, for the time being...]

I was concerned that it was something more serious. Thank you for the clarification.

[princessofheart]

No problem, things are getting pretty stressful for everyone.

[She smiles up at Samus; she couldn't tell if she was just really short or if Samus was really tall, but either way there was a bit of neck craning.]

Do you have any idea where we are, by any chance?

[screwattack]

[Considering on her own she's over six feet tall, with added height from her suit... it isn't you Kairi, don't worry.]

Negative... I've never seen this place before. [Looking around, her scanners take in the setting but... nothing seems to stand out. The layout wasn't similar to the Caduceus Hospital whatsoever.] ... I don't believe we're in the city anymore.

[ And she is face to face with the barrel of a bolter, as Garviel's own combat-forged reflexes kick in. He growls a comment through his augmitters. ]

I'm not your enemy, mortal.

[screwattack]

[Samus blinks, staring at his barrel in return. She stays frozen for a moment before lowering her own weapon and returning to a more relaxed stance.]

My mistake. I know you, don't I? Cerberus, if I'm correct? It seems I wasn't the only one previously residing in Hinoto-Ri to arrive here, then.

Yes, that is me. There are a fair amount of us. I intend to organize us and ensure we can all communicate with one another. We've a foe to hunt, here, and a task ahead of us that will require significant cooperation.

[ His own barrel drops after a moment, and he shifts, aiming into the shadows as he scans them with his helm. ]

[screwattack]

Agreed. I'd like to help in leading the hunt, if possible. [Considering she was a bounty hunter, she was probably one of the best ones for the job here, especially if it involved a manhunt.]

Do you believe our Comps work here? I doubt the network between them carried over, but perhaps we can set up a network between them.

I haven't tried them yet, honestly. I've been depending on my augmitter and my armor for the most part. I try to avoid using the COMP under most circumstances where I can.

[ Mostly because he's mildly distrustful of it. ]

I'll have Ferrus look into it. If anyone can manage it, the techpriest can.

[screwattack]

Techpriest? [Interesting word to describe someone. She wasn't sure if he meant that literally or figuratively.] It would be advantageous to have a network among the Visitors, especially since we should all have those glasses, or our watches.

[Holding out her cannon parallel to her body, the armor retracts and disappears, revealing the watch still on her wrist.]

Cerberus, do you recognize our location? I've never been here before.

[photonicfighter]

Aaa-aaah! Easy! I'm not your enemy!

[Dakki recoils, raising an arm defensively. Samus's sensors would determine that she's not human. Rather, they'd be likely to pick up polymers and fancy energy drives and high-tech ceramics. This is an android.]

[screwattack]

[When told she isn't an enemy, Samus lowers her weapon, looking apologetic. Her scanners, however, do reveal the mechanical parts of this person and... interesting.]

I won't shoot, I apologize. I thought I saw a demon, but it seems to have disappeared.

[Dakki moves out of her defensive stance when Samus lowers her weapon.]

I'm starting to wonder if there's actually anything genuinely hazardous in here with us. The shadows aren't behaving properly, but nothing's actually attacked me yet.

[She looks left, looks right, and takes a step forward. There are no hard feelings about the whole almost getting shot at thing. It's understandable in a place like this.]

[screwattack]

I wouldn't take my chances. [Which is why she's remaining in the power suit for now. Strange new place with strange creatures that may or may not actually exist... it was better to be cautious.]

Samus Aran, by the way. Did you come from Hinoto-Ri as well?

[photonicfighter]

I don't blame you. I'm still being careful. [It's always a good time for fancy powered armor! It looks sharp AND comes in handy when the shadows finally grow fangs.

Dakki nods in response to her question.] I did. Did you have a dream, too?

[nightfowl]

[as soon as Haken gets a face full of gun, he jumps back a little, keeping a hand near his own.]

Easy there, pardner. Save your ammo.

[screwattack]

[The bounty hunter lowers the barrel and gives him an odd look.]

My power beam doesn't require ammunition, but I'll gladly spare the energy. I apologize, I wasn't aiming for you.

[nightfowl]

No big deal. Just letting you know I'm not one of the monsters here, pardner.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if you shot at me. Fights are how I meet most people.

[Haken shrugs. This is how he ends up meeting women.]

[screwattack]

You must lead an exciting lifestyle. However I assure you I'm not going to start any fights with someone who isn't hostile.

[For a bounty hunter, she definitely has a high moral code.]

I'm Samus Aran, by the way. Did you come here from Hinoto-Ri as well?

[nightfowl]

[Haken laughs. He's certainly one of a simliar mind to Samus.]
You could say that. Comes with the job of being a bounty hunter, and someone that's saved the world.

Me? Nope, I hail from the Endless Frontier. Lost Herenica specifically, but reckon you could this place has been my home for the past few months. I came over here to see what the commotion was about. Seeing if maybe a few more friends from back home had arrived.
