[03 | Second Officer Log] || [Open]
Characters: Data, his cat(s) and you!
Setting: Dormitories Floors, Holodeck and the Library.
Format: Starting with action, will follow.
Summary: Data before and during the event. Data gets to see the familiar bridge of the Enterprise, needs to protect his cats from the weather and is forced to continue his duties as security officers in spite of the thunderstorm.
Warnings: None really for now. Data may get struck by lightning and deactivate during the Summer/Thunderstorm prompt, but he'll live.
Floor One Hundred (Backdated to before the Event)
[ Every time the android stepped on the hundredth floor of this tower, the hologram displayed the bridge of the USS Enterprise-D. As far as Data was concerned, this room was obviously using a technology similar to that of the holodeck-- Albeit without a doubt less perfectioned than the technology of Starfleet, as the holograms could not be touched.
By now he had gotten used to the floor displaying that hologram, it had become normal. However one mystery remained: why did this image in particular appeared? He suspected some system picked an image in the resident's mind and displayed it... But why this was always the bridge of the Enterprise was a mystery to him. Since he "felt no emotion", he should not be more attached to this part of the ship than to any other, should he?
No matter, today he will be once again looking at the details of the bridge with an expression akin to curiosity, pondering on that question like he did many times before. ]
Dormitories Floors (Spring)
[ Data walked out of his dormitory room alongside his cat, Spot, looking around with suspicion and a bit of curiosity. Well, it was indeed raining both inside and outside the dorm rooms. What system controlled the weather was obviously malfunctioning. ]
Intriguing.
[ On top of Spot besides him, Data was also holding a kitten in his hand-- This other cat looked five months old at best. Data had regained him following the Halloween game and had since then kept him hidden out of harm-- But with the water pouring everywhere and the tower malfunctioning, it was now imperative to find him a safe hideout where he would be protected from the elements. ]
I believe we need to find him a protected place.
[ He looked down at spot before looking around and heading to the stairs. An umbrella now would have been most welcome. ]
Floor Nineteen (Summer)
[ The elements had very little effect on Data, and the heat had been no exception. With the kitten now protected, he could return to his duty as a security officer. However, the thunderstorm that was beginning was more of a problem, what with him being a mechanical lifeform.
No matter, he had to abide to his duty or he would most likely, so you could see Data checking the floor for any potential monsters or threat. Once it would be obvious there were no monsters lurking around the library at the moment, Data would stop by the security box at the exit door before inputting in the code signifying this area was safe. With this done, Data would would also look and see if anyone in the library may need assistance, especially with this weather. ]

Dormitary Floors
If you need help sheltering your cat, I would not mind helping you out.

chaos.
Assistance would be indeed appreciated. I need a safe place not affected by the current weather disturbances for the safety of this cat.

[ With that said Data headed to the Cafeteria, thankfully for an android such as him the stairs weren't very dangerous. ]

The two cats were under a chair on top of a table, protecting them from the rain. ]
It does not appear any floor is safe at the current moment.
no subject
[chaos took a moment to try and pet the cats before going to a different table and pulling down a chair so that they would have room to work.]
no subject
[ He went to the table and looked at what chaos brought. ]
I believe I should focus on the main structure. As my pace is superior to normal, I will be a lot faster to work on this part alone.
no subject
[chaos was no stranger to building things, and he could go at a fast pace if he really needed to. However..in order to keep up the small illusion of being a normal human, he would go with the flow. Not that there was anything wrong with that.]
Alright then. I shall go and fetch some chains from the workshop so that we can hang the whole pen up later.
[Smiling, chaos walked out the door and began another trek up to the workshop.]
no subject
By the time chaos would be back, the structure would be over. As a matter of facts, all the remaining chairs would be piled up as well. An android waste no time. ]
no subject
I've brought back everything else we need. How are the cats?
no subject
The are fine. However, the weather is not improving.
no subject
[Carefully, chaos started to climb up the tower of chairs, and when he got near the ceiling, he put the hook into it, securing it with glue if it started to fall out. He then put the chain through it.]
The structure can be tied to the chain, I believe.
spring;
You're really worried about protecting cats?
[ Archer appeared out of nowhere not far down the hall from Data, giving him a skeptical (nigh incredulous, even) look. ]
no subject
[ Data nods at him in acknowledgement and reply with a neutral look, the skepticism apparently not bothering him. ]
While I suspect Spot may survive this disturbance, I believe her offspring may not survive the current weather on his own.
no subject
Honestly...
[ He's about to start a lecture on how unlikely it is that a kitten would manage to survive this place for long even outside of events like this, when something occurs to him. ]
Where did you get those cats, anyway?
no subject
[ The skepticism is once again totally lost on the android. As far as he's concerned they've been doing great so far. The pro of being emotionless, probably. ]
Her offspring was returned to me in November, following a "game" from Ruana for Halloween.
no subject
[ A scowl, much harder to miss than his previous dubious expressions, flashes over his face. ]
But a small, weak animal hardly likely to survive this tower doesn't seem like much of a reward for it.
And--
I wonder. It's easy enough to replicate objects, but if everything in our worlds was destroyed, how could they bring back animals?
no subject
[ However to his next question, Data tilts his head and looks equally as intrigued. ]
It is a question I have wondered myself. It appears animals are frequently returned as gifts, yet it makes little sense. I believe it adds evidence to our worlds not being destroyed.
no subject
Adds evidence...? What evidence is there to begin with?
You're right, though. It's one thing to reconstruct objects or copies of them. That's easy. But living creatures? Hmph, that's another story entirely.
Summer - Library
He seems undisturbed by them ruffling through his hair and tearing at his coat though - it's a welcome change after the dry heat and stale air of the last few days - and lifts his hand, concentrating, half a dozen books snapping shut and lifting off from his cart. His eyes are half lidded as he marks the places they go to in his mind, his hand moving forward as he guided the books and they softly set down right where they belong. Then he's moving his cart again, eyes wandering as he looks which books belong to the same shelf, not quite watching out for any other person on the floor with him.]
no subject
He did not seem in need of assistance, however he could not help but notice the manner he carried out his duties. Impressive. Telekinesis and similar skills were after all rare even where he came from, most of those possessing such skills either mastering them through technological means or being god-like beings such as the Q.
Hence Data would tilt his head to the side and speak a sole word. ]
Intriguing.
no subject
He shakes his head, trying to banish the memory, when he hears Data's commentary, blinking at him for a second, before recognizing him as the person who had explained 'Christmas' to him and regarding him with a nod of greeting. (And he's really quite grateful... those hadn't been thoughts he'd wanted to linger on.)]
What is?
no subject
[ Data cannot help but notice though that the man had seemed far too absorbed by his books and frowned a bit, maybe he had disturbed him? If yes he would probably walk away and go check on the cats. ]
However I hope I am disturbing you.
no subject
Not at all. And yes... that form of magic is called Telekinesis.
no subject
[ Alas, wrong word used in the android's book. Not that he has never seen magic before. But, urge to rationalize. ]
Is not telekinesis a natural mental ability developed in select individual that can be categorized through science?
no subject
...In my world, it’s a pretty common caster-type magic – easy to learn and easy to hold control of on small scale.
[Small scale being one object at a time. What Jellal has been doing is a little more difficult than that.]
