Hacking #09: Distractions

Characters: April and anyone else!
Setting: Floor 15, Floor 14, Floor 99 and Dorm Room 2-04 (Locked to Aleph).
Format: Brackets to start with, but I can match you!
Summary: After the events of the other week, April has decided that the best course of action is to distract herself as much as she possibly can with whatever she can.

[Floor 15]
[April tended to try to have something to work on when she's at the workshop, and today is no different. It's a bit awkward to try to work on things when one of her arms is still injured, but it hasn't stopped her before and it isn't going to stop her now. Plus, she's using her powers to help her move and bend metal anyway. And she seems to have a collection of things that she's working on, judging by the small collection of jars she has along with the random bits and pieces of metal and wire laying across the table she's working at, along with a few small lights and cds and attempts at making miniature wheels.

… Yeah, it's not really clear what she's making but at least she seems enthusiastic about it]

[Floor 14]
[Video games also tend to be a good distraction, at least to April anyway. Though her attempt at playing a racing game doesn't seem to be going well, judging how she keeps crashing the car to the point where she has to start the race over again. Which is just what happened now as she huffs and slumps in her beanbag chair slightly, pouting at the tv screen.]

D-dammit, this is really hard...

[Floor 99]
[She had never really explored this floor much before, so her restlessness eventually led to her looking around the caverns. While April did give herself a headache by examining the crystals too curiously, she does eventually decide to see what would happen if she used her electricity to reflect light through the crystals. And she is rather pleased her her results, judging by how she soon becomes focused on the little light show she managed to create along the cavern walls. And it is pretty to look at, if a bit blinding too thanks to how much twinkling is going on]

[Dorm Room 2-04. Locked to Aleph.]
[April had said a while ago that she would make a few things for Aleph, and today she's making good on the promise. Which is why she'll be knocking on his rooms door, a bag slung over her shoulder.]

Hey, Aleph, you there?

[The dorm room door swings open and Aleph smiles at her.]

Absolutely.

[technologic]

[She gives him a smile back, before holding the bag up to him.] Good, because I got some things for you!

[alephbet]

Really? You didn't have to. [He'll take the bag and peek inside.]

[technologic]

I said I was going to, so I did. [In it he'll find a jar that's twinkling slightly, a small motorcycle and a square shaped device with a speaker on the front of it.]

Floor 14

[Peer. Peeeeeer over her shoulder.]

What are you doing?

[technologic]

[Just gonna peek back at him.] Failing at racing games. I'm really bad at driving.

[scentofmakai]

Move over, let me try. [Nudge.]

[technologic]

[No her beanbag. But she does comply with the nudge and moves over, offering him the controller.] Here, it's the X button to move faster and the B button to break.

Floor 14

Nesir was still wearing her lilac dress, even though she told herself it was most likely a copy and not the one Lotte had given her she deserved to be sentimental.

Or something. Mostly she was wearing it to show that they didn't phase her at all, even though they did.

She never usually stopped on this floor, not willing to admit that she had no idea what anything in it was. But when she spotted April she went closer, the woman was one of a few people Nesir wasn't actively avoiding.

She sat down silently next to her.

April glances at Nesir when she sits down next to her, not saying anything at first as she continues playing and then crashes the car again, prompting her to slump a bit more in her chair.

"... Do you want to give this a go?"

Nesir was watching the weird thing, that looked like a computer but had no text. Instead it had images of something moving and crashing. "I do no be knowing what it do be."

[technologic]

"It's a video game. It's something people play for fun or stress relief. If you want, I can show you how to play it?" At least April liked to use video games as stress relief, especially when there weren't many monsters around to fight.

Floor 14

[lightofhumanity]

[It wasn't often, but chaos sometimes came onto this floor to watch and sense people and to wind down. When he saw April having a hard time with her racing game, he couldn't help but wander over to her and reply.]

If you wish, I could help you.

[technologic]

Eh? [April blinks up at him, before giving a reassuring smile.] Ah, no, it's- [Whoops crashed again.]

... W-well, if that's okay with you..

[lightofhumanity]

[..That did make chaos chuckle a little as he reached his hand out for the controller.]

It is perfectly alright with me. What are you having trouble with?

[technologic]

I'm, um, not too good at avoiding the corners. Or other cars.

Floor 15

[oforder]

I thought I might find you here.

[ There's Wilhelm standing at the top of the stairs. Like usual, it was if he were standing there all along. Teleportation, maybe? Who knew. ]

Might I ask what you are doing?

[ As if he didn't already know. ]

[technologic]

[April stops mid-building to glance back at him, and she tilts her head slightly.] I'm building some things. I like to be busy.

[oforder]

But what are you building?

{ Wilhelm enters the floor, slowly moving over towards her. ]

[Floor 15]

[After all that had happened, Kain hadn't been showing his face much. To anyone. For any reason. But The Tower was still The Tower and monsters were still monsters.... and he was still entirely too hard on his handcrafted weaponry. Reluctantly, he made his way back down to the workshop, to put together another.

And he saw April there, doing... wait. What was she doing? It looked magical. And also completely inscrutable. He craned his neck and watched, trying to make some sense of it, as he walked by on his way to retrieve more sandpaper and more wood. He ought to just stop and ask and say hello and...

...no. He brought trouble to everyone. He'd surely bring trouble to her, too. So he looked away, and set himself upon that wood-retrieving. Rather noisily, with a fair bit of clonking and clattering. And a bit of cursing under his breath.]

[technologic]

[April glances up and gives Kain a nod of acknowledgement when he walked by, before turning her attention back to her projects. It's only when she hears the clattering and faint cursing that she turns to face him, blinking at him curiously.]

Um... Do you need any help?

[ajealouswind]

[...oh. So much for not attracting attention. He threw a glance to April over his shoulder, looking surprised and awkward in equal measure.]

Er... no. It's fine.

[See, there? He had found just the right piece of wood to work with. And was withdrawing it without issue. Mission successfully accomplished. So he turned himself about, took a step...]

...what... is that, that you're working on?

[If he didn't ask, it would continue to gnaw at him. If they had already exchanged a few words... a few more could not be that much worse.]

Floor 14, but I may be slow until I catch up with my inbox again.

*Enoch had made an attempt at video games. He liked the block puzzle ones and action ones. He'd never really looked at the driving ones though, but...well, why wouldn't he like them?

...He pushes a beanbag over.*

...Would it be easier to play with someone else instead of the machine?

*He'd be just as bad, so they could stall on a race forever at the same time...at first. Then his tendency to pick things up very quickly on adrenaline will kick in.*

That's okay!

[technologic]

[April blinks over at him, her expression curious for a short moment before she gives him a cheerful smile.]

Ehe, yeah, you're right!

[And she'll go to offer him the other controller.]

*Enoch takes a moment to get comfortable with the feeling of it in his hands, his thumb gliding over the buttons. It's not the same system he's played on the few times he'd played one.*
