Finally, another party

Format: Anything goes
Summary: Lancer throws his brother a party. Everyone can come except for the Archer (meaning they can come crash the party anyways)! Feel free to tag into any of the threads set up or invent your own scenario.
Warnings: None yet!

[It had taken some preparing, but the party was finally set up in a satisfactory way. There was a table for food and drink dragged in from the cafeteria, a wooden bucket filled with water with fruit floating in it, a strange paper mache Jason head pinata stacked on a scarecrow body, and a board with a pig with a Ganon head scribbled on it along with several spiraling paper "tails" attached to thumbtacks. There are no party decorations, but Lancer figures the flowers and sunshine should be decoration enough.]

[Now it's just a matter of waiting for people to show up.]

Hm... Well, I went to Kyoto with my friends on November 19th. That was probably the most exciting thing that happened... even if Mitsuru-sempai executed us.

[And he thought he had her fooled with the Minato switcharoo.]

[Diarmuid's words cut off and his eyes get wide.]

She did what to you?

Oh! See, she caught us sneaking around the hot springs when it was the girls' turn to bathe, and she said she was going to execute us... She basically froze us solid. It took us forever to thaw out...

[He's shivering now, looking behind him as if Mitsuru might pop up any second.]

I still remember that chilling gaze of hers all too well.

[Diarmuid listens quietly as Ryoji explains, though if the boy is expecting him to scold him for doing such a thing, he is about to be surprised. Instead of scolding him, Diarmuid starts laughing.]

Ah...that sounds like something Oscar would try if he were alive now. You are probably lucky she didn't do something worse.

[While what happened sounds bad, considering the fact that Ryoji sill looks back on the day happily means it could not have been too bad after all.]

[Well, that was a relief. Honestly, the being in there at the same time as the girls was a complete accident, though Ryoji recalls thinking it was truly a lucky break until Junpei tried to shut him up via drowning.]

I really am. She's usually really calm, but she's definitely called the ice queen for a reason.

[Not at all. That day was also filled with so many other experiences, including his first shrine visit. He still remembers Minato scolding him for clapping too many times.]

[Diarmuid laughs again, shaking his head.]

Most groups of friends have someone like that. They are the ones who keep everyone out of trouble. Well, I think that decides it, doesn't it? We should pick that day for your birthday! What better day would there be than one you spent having so much fun with your friends?

She definitely kept the others out of trouble as best she could!

Yeah, I guess that'll be the day for it, then. There really weren't many days that even matched how nice that day was.

[Ryoji's just hoping Diarmuid isn't planning anything too extravagant...]

[Would Diarmuid do that Ryoji? He's already making plans....]

November 19th it is! Is there anything you can think of that you might want to do? Or maybe not do as the case may be?

[...Oh dear. Well, it's not like he wants to ruin Diarmuid's fun...]

Um... I'd just like to do things that are normally done at a birthday party. I haven't been to one before yours.

[Diarmuid laughs and leans closer to Ryoji so he can whisper over-dramatically into the boy's ear.]

Can I tell you a secret? I haven't been to a party like this before either. Neither has my brother. Apparently, he asked some people on the Network what he needed to do. I never saw the post so...

Ah, I remember seeing that! I couldn't help him, but I guess some people knew a lot more than we did!

[And he's very glad for that. Diarmuid did deserve to have a fun birthday party, after all he did for Ryoji and the other Tower residents.]

As much as I don't really like the Network, it has its uses. I am not sure that gathering information for a birthday party is the first thing I would have thought of, but why not?

[He laughs.]

I am just glad things have gone so well and that no one has taken the opportunity to try and cause trouble.

It worked well! And I'm really glad no one has come to cause trouble too...

[He gives Diarmuid a bit of a worried look, wondering if there is something his mentor is neglecting to tell him.]

Did you think someone would want to?

[Diarmuid makes a very quick dismissive gesture when he sees the worry on Ryoji's face.]

No, not at all! Well, I am a little worried, but not about a specific person causing trouble. I am more worried about the tower itself or the administrators causing problems. You know how they can be.

Oh, that makes a lot more sense. At least they seem to let us have some good times occasionally. They must not all be bad, right?

[He doesn’t know much about the administrators. Perhaps not all of them approve of the experiments.]

[Diarmuid shakes his head sadly.]

Dax tried to help us and Ruana killed him for it. Zo is just a child so it is hard to say, though I think he does try to help people when he can. The others...I do not trust them at all. Some say Riki is not so bad, but there are people who thought that about Ruana too and look at what she has done now...

That's... that's just not fair. The good ones should have as much say as the bad ones do. I didn't really think any of them would be trustworthy, with the experiments, but knowing that some of them want to help but can't is worse.

[Diarmuid shakes his head.]

Nothing is fair about this place. Zo is just a child and yet he is caught up in all of this. It doesn't seem right. He's almost as much a victim of all of this as we are...if he actually is what he seems. It is so hard to know anything for sure about them.

From the meal choices we get sometimes, I'm pretty sure that Zo really is what he appears to be... I hope when we find a way out of here, we can help him too.

I want to believe that you are correct. It's just that there is so much unknown in this place and so much that seems to be one thing when it is not that I can't help but be suspicious.

Deep down, I feel like he is just a child, though. A child with unimaginable power, but a child nonetheless. I hope we can help him as well.

I understand that. I still hope there isn't anything more to him, but I would be suspicious too.

Does anyone know what kinds of powers he has?

[Diarmuid shakes his head.]

Not that I know. He is the one who brings our souls here, but besides that the true extent of his power is really unknown. Honestly, it's something we may never know.

I see... That's still amazing, being able to transfer souls, even bring them back from death. I think if he was a bad person, he would have used that power against us by now.

I would think that would be the case, yes, unless he is trying to trick us in some way.

[Diarmuid shuts his eyes for a moment and shakes his head again.]

Of course, I thought that about Dax too because I thought it too good to be true that one of the Administrators might have been on our side, and we all know how wrong I was on that.

Yeah. I think Zo is genuine, like Dax was. I don’t know. I just find it hard to believe a child could be capable of anything cruel… but I guess I’m a little idealistic sometimes.

[He used to be a bit more doubtful of the morality of others, but it seems that Minato and the others’ success had an impact on that.]
