Tear's Big Project, Day 1
Characters: Tear Grants and YOU
Setting: The meadow on Floor 25
Format: Starting action, reply as you wish.
Summary: This is the first of the two days for Tear's offer of training in magic. There will be closed parts for certain people and a few open sections.
Warnings: Magic, fighting, Luke and Asch in the same area with pointy things, possible explosions?
[Tear made her way to the meadow thirty minutes early, a book in her hand as she made that way. She looked around at the empty space and grimaced. Why she'd thought this was a good idea, she'd never know, but she was determined to see if she could get the residents of this Tower of Horror to arm themselves in light of the recent problems with the administration.]
Closed for Luke fon Fabre (OU)
[If the redhead looked carefully enough, he'd see the brunette looking off into the distance at the flowers as she waited for the others to gather.]
Closed for Asch the Bloody, Sheba and Xion
[She'd decided to work on the redheads away from one another, but any friends they brought were fine. She'd expected to see the blond after their exchange on the network.
Closed for V/V, AU Link and Zelda
[She couldn't wait to introduce her two new friends to one another. Link had training with bows and swords. Between those, Tear was sure that V/V would find something she could use.]
Open Section for Magic Training
[This was perhaps the most anxious part of the entire ordeal—trying to figure out how the magics of so many worlds worked and to see if those interested could actually learn to use the Seventh Fonon, or if she was going to be spending her night telling them all how to do battle first aid.
Only time would tell, right?]
Open Section for Fighting Training
[As opposed to the magic training, this, this she had no issue with. She was a proficient with her staffs, maces and knives. Besides, she'd learned as a child that anything could be used as a weapon in times of need. And with the many sword wielders as she'd met since coming to the tower, she knew that this would be fine!]

Miss Grants? I'm Patchouli Knowledge. We spoke over the terminals?
no subject
Yes, I am, Miss Knowledge. Please, call me Tear.
no subject
She's adorable, yes, but she's also a magic powerhouse.]
In that case, please call me Patchouli. It's a pleasure to meet you.
I'd explained a little bit about the kind of magic system that's in place back home, but the rules are simple: we use what are called 'spell cards'. They're magical displays, tailored to each spellcaster. The point of them is to show off the magical ability of the caster while being nonlethal - your clothing might get a bit singed if you don't dodge something, but you won't really get hurt.
In most duels, each participant prepares three spell cards ahead of time. You're allowed to try to throw the caster off with your own magic bullets - again, the worst they'll do is leave you bruised - or use one of your own spell cards to counter any card you can't handle, but of course, that leaves you with fewer in your own arsenal. The ideal method of going about a duel back home is to dodge and weave your way through the pattern of the spell card itself, while attempting to knock the caster off-balance, while your opponent does the same. The one who does this two out of three times wins the duel.
There are all sorts of magic specialties, but I'm an elemental magician by training. I'd prepared one of my own spell cards, if you'd like to see?

So, you've never actually had to kill anyone in a duel? I don't have that luxury, unfortunately. Fighting on my world usually means fighting to live.
However, I'd like to see what you can do.
no subject
I'm fully prepared to modify what I can do as a means of self-defense. I'd prefer not to have to kill someone if I can help it, but one does what one must, in a situation like this.
[And then Patchouli grins.]
I'm a bit traditional in my methods - the five traditional elements, wood, fire, earth, metal, and water, but the sun and the moon can influence those. When they're combined, one or two or even the five traditional ones, the possibilities are fairly endless.
[She'll take a moment to fly - yes, fly - upward, well out of range of anyone that she could possibly injure with a stray bullet. Once she's settled, she starts to cast.]

When she was done with her current group, she made her way over to the blue-haired teen with a neutral expression on her face.]
I see that you made it.

Yo.
[This place was his favorite floor to spend time so he was fairly familiar with the area.]

[It was a rare moment when she wasn't helping another person, so Shiki was welcome to do whatever he wanted while she was free.]

...is there anyone else around?
no subject
In the immediate vicinity, there's only you and I. In the meadow, it's quite full.

If it wouldn't be too much trouble...I'd like to join in on the lessons.
[He hadn't really known much about them, but Ion had always been a bright little Fon Master. It hadn't been a terribly big leap in logic when he had seen what was taking place on the floor.]
no subject
Not at all, Fon Master. I'd be delighted to help you.
no subject
[He knew his conditions were...undesirable. But Ion also knew that he had the potential to be so much more magically capable than he had been allowed. He was the Fon Master, after all.]
I've always wanted to learn more ways to harness the seventh fonon...but for obvious reasons, I was never allowed to do so in Daath. [In fact, he was sure if Anise found out what he was asking Tear to do, she'd have a fit, tell him he was going to hurt himself (which he probably would, but it was a risk he was more than willing to take). For now...he'd just have to sneak around a little bit.]
no subject
If you don't mind, Fon Master. I'd like to start small with you. I've done the same thing with Luke with some success.

I'M NOT LATE AT ALL... otl I'm really super sorry
Don't worry about it.
oops, got here late...
( --Ah, so his replica is here too. )
So these are the capabilities of one of Yulia's bloodline... Oh, he knows of Van's capabilities well enough, but not of the girl who's clearly his sister. Van's sister seems much more focused on the spells and hymns aspect than the Commandant ever was, no matter how well he used them.
... Hm, should he announce his presence with an "I'm sorry I'm late?" In any case, Ion lingers around the edge of the floor with an unsure-seeming expression on his face, as if torn between something.]
No such thing, Orion.
However, there are eyes that are following her as she does so. And they aren't the familiar, warm, green eyes that she was used to, or the sour ones that she'd adjusted to having on her from time to time. No, this was someone new but not.
As she turns around, she sees another Ion standing there, leaning on his staff with eyes riveted on her ever movement. He might be smaller, younger, not quite the same, but he was definitely the Fon Master.
Slowly, she approaches him, trying to keep her expression as neutral as possible. Finally, she reaches him and gives a small smile.]
It is nice to see you are here, Fon Master. I wasn't sure that you would make it.
[Because it was definitely this Ion that contacted her over the network.]
no subject
How have the lessons been going so far? I watched a little, but since you're here it's probably better to ask.
no subject
So far, it's going well. There haven't been any incidents from what I can see and I think everyone's going slowly to gauge how things will work out, which is encouraging.
