10th June → Floor 40

[wrigurun]

Come out! Wherever you're hiding!

[Wriggle had a number of glowing familiars circling around her for light, as well as a hair trigger to shoot at anything that would jump out at her. If she could beat one of these monsters then that would surely show everyone just how capable she was. Of course she stayed near floor 41, she wouldn't stray too far from where she was strongest. But in order to find a monster she needed to lure one out first]

I'm just a tiny poor firefly, I couldn't possibly put up a fight!

[themonsters]

[There's no warning for it, but any magic that Wriggle has stops the moment she steps onto Floor 40.

The monster lunges at her without warning, snarling with enormous teeth bared.]

[wrigurun]

[Her heart almost stops the moment she drops out of the air. Had she been wrong? Luckily her antennae were a part of her and they still sensed the movements in the room.

Just barely though. Wriggle dives out of the way but only by a fraction and tumbles to the floor. Instinctively she forces her palms in front of her, expecting some kind of bullet pattern to materialize but...]

[themonsters]

[The monster growls as it hits the ground, rolling rather inelegantly. It crashes into a pile of boxes, snarling loudly as it does.

When it rebounds, it moves more slowly now stalkings its prey carefully, like a large, horrifying cat.]

[wrigurun]

[She takes the opportunity to scramble back to her feet. Thoughts were running through her head a mile a minute as she started to get a hold of the situation. For whatever reason, her powers weren't working. She really wasn't in any position to actually fight something with so many teeth so if she wanted the upper-hand she needed to get it to the next floor up.

Which would be easier if it wasn't blocking the exit.

As it stalked her, Wriggle did the same. Stepping carefully her body was tense and ready to act, her antennae poised to pick up any sudden movements. As they circled around each other a plan was starting to formulate in her head. She might not be able to fly, but she could still jump]

[themonsters]

[The monster is moving, calculating, keeping her only exit blocked as it growls at her.

It bends low to the ground, snarling. For a moment, it looks to be waiting for her to make a move. And then, without warning, it leaps again, aiming to land a bite on whatever it can.]

[wrigurun]

[As soon as it leaps she charges forward. For someone so short her legs sure work fast. Wriggle had hoped that she could run under the monster as it jumped but she couldn't quite make it. As it lands its back legs managed to knock her down with a sharp scream.

Her face hit the floor pretty hard and Wriggle tries to ignore the blood pooling in her nose. What she lacked in strength she made up for with determination. Pushing herself to her feet she makes a dash to the stairs, running in a slightly erratic fashion and certainly not as fast as before]

[themonsters]

[The monster doesn't slow down. Unfortunately for Wriggle, it doesn't seem like the creature is going to tire any time soon, still attempting to snap at her whenever it gets close enough.]

[wrigurun]

[The numbness in her face and the blood streaking down her front makes her feel disorientated and dizzy. She seems to run purely out of willpower but willpower isn't enough. She needs to think but the thoughts seep out of her head with the blood from her nose.

Just as Wriggle reaches the stairs something clamps down on her cape and she almost chokes at the sudden loss of momentum. Completely dazed she lies there, gasping for air and she tries to process just what is happening]

[themonsters]

[The monster hasn't stopped perusing her the entire time, growling and snarling as it does.

It aims to bite hard enough to break through muscle and bone.]

[wrigurun]

[Slowly her trembling hands start moving on their own, reaching up to undo the bow at her neck and free herself from the monster.

A futile effort though, as she regains her senses just long enough to see the inside of the creature's mouth and shriek as its teeth snap down on her neck]

[themonsters]

[Through the bite, a wave of completely despair will course through her. A little late to fight through it, though, as the monster bites again, this time aiming to kill.]

[wrigurun]

[It didn't matter what the bite brought with it, she was in despair before it even finished her off. Wriggle hung limply in its jaws, blood pooling all around her and her head practically severed from her body]

[themonsters]

[Wriggle hangs limply in its jaws for a moment before the monster drops her to the floor, prowling back up the stairs to attack its next unsuspecting victim.]
