[V/V picks herself off the couch carefully as it comes near her. She'd read somewhere that sudden movements can startle animals, but that book probably wasn't thinking of this particular animal.

The elevator is not far away, and a better bet than the stairs. V/V flaps her wings, trying to get off the ground before it gets a bite out of her.]

[themonsters]

[It runs, now--runs and leaps, higher than the muscles in its legs seem to provide for. It's not flying, though, so while its jaws are outstretched to bite down it won't be doing anything but jumping.]

[heavenscorpse]

[V/V's foot is caught by the monster and she winces and cries out in pain, frantically trying to shake it off in midair.]

[themonsters]

[The monster holds on as best it can--and as it bites down, V/V may begin feeling slightly euphoric. Giggly, even. While it's possible to fight off the feelings, it is a bit distracting.]

[heavenscorpse]

[What's going on? She's worried about getting her foot bitten off, but it doesn't seem so bad...? Her attempts at shaking it off slow slightly, but she's still making an effort.

After all, this body is the same as everyone else's, so it deserves to be protected.]

[themonsters]

[Eventually the monster falls to the floor, landing on its side and taking a moment to shake itself off. Then it leaps again, aiming higher this time.]

[heavenscorpse]

[This time the path of V/V's flight is less upwards and more horizontal towards the elevator, so what the monster grabs onto is her wing - the flesh tears easily, and it's left with a mouth full of feathers and not much of a hold.]

[themonsters]

[The monster takes the feathers down with it this time, and manages to land on its feet even though it slides.

It seems to get what V/V is attempting to do, though, so it runs for the elevator to try and beat her there. It's a bit behind, though.]

[heavenscorpse]

[V/V manages to hit the elevator button-

-and not much happens. The elevator is currently on another floor and will take a while to get up here.

She really could laugh from desperation now. Instead she tries to get up to the ceiling, hoping she can make it until the elevator arrives...

It's hard with a wing that has a chunk out of it, though. Her flight's slower this time.]

[themonsters]

[The monster leaps over and over, but it needs more momentum to really jump high, so eventually it stops, parked in front of the elevator door, and stares up intensely at its prey.

A magic circle appears on the wall near to V/V. It begins glowing.]

[heavenscorpse]

[Why does that seem like a bad sign to her?

She inches away from the magic circle, though most of her focus is staying steady with an injured wing.]

[themonsters]

[After a few moments longer, the circle explodes.]

[heavenscorpse]

[Well then.

That sends her crashing to the floor, too badly injured to fly now and easily in the monster's reach.

]

[themonsters]

[As soon as V/V is on the ground, the laughing monster leaps at her, trying to tear out her throat.]

glad to please mysterious monster

[heavenscorpse]

[And judging by the spurt of blood and V/V's complete stillness, it looks like it succeeded at that.]

[themonsters]

[The monster tears at her corpse for a while, until the elevator door opens.

Then, leaving V/V's body where it is, it takes the elevator elsewhere.]
