Characters: Anyone who's willing to work for SCIENCE.
Setting: The Workshop (Floor 15) for the IC questions to the scientists and the mingle thread. Then each group will be positioned on a different floor so as to not alert the administrators with a large group of people gathering at a single place for a long time.
Format: Prose or action, whichever you prefer.

Summary: This log marks the start of the research on the collar fluid! As was mentioned in the sign-ups post, words was passed around about the need of more people to help and study the collar fluid. Characters signing-up have all been divided into seven teams, which can be found here. ICly, Doc Brown made the team based on what he thinks is the most efficient. You can still sign-up here.

There will be a thread in case your character needs to ask a question or anything to the starter scientists (Doc, Waver, Sertoria or Sephiroth) and in parallel a mingle thread for all the characters during the 'recruitment', even if they end up assigned to different teams. And then obviously, there are the individual threads for each teams so the new teammates can get and know each other if they don't already.

For their first day the teams will be on different floors, but following this nothing prevents two teams from working closeby or on different floors. For reference, there are three set of scientific equipment, each containing a microscope, a small centrifuge, beakers, test tubes, many testing apparatuses, etc. They'll be shared between the seven teams depending on what they need for their researches.

Warnings: Nothing! There will be no NPC tags here, researches shouldn't be dangerous and this log is mostly for the characters to get and know each other, so this should be a relatively harmless log. Well, unless you're in the Violet or Orange team of course. In which case, good luck.

[Taiki was also hovering near the sides, too scared to talk to anyone. He sees the man looking ill though and watches him worriedly, Taiki is used to being ill and always worries about others when they are, and wants to help them.] Are... sorry... um... are you alright...

[Rick blearily looks up and rubs at his eyes, for the moment uncomprehending. When his vision comes back into focus there is recognition there, and he nearly greets Taiki by name before he remembers the situation in which they met, and the confusion that might cause him.]

[As such, his face turns bright red and he fumbles for a more appropriate response.]

--Oh um--y-yes. J-Just, ah...t-tired...th--thank you.

[He awkwardly shuffles his feet and goes silent.]

[His nervousness seems to make Taiki more nervous and he shrinks back against the wall] Oh... um... I'm glad...

[bashfulshifter]

[...Oh but now he's made the poor kid anxious, and that simply will not do! Rick pauses and very intently thinks of ways to make him feel more welcome.]

...Are, um...a-are you d-doing o-okay?

[He tried.]

Taiki shuffled his feet and nodded] Yes... are you... um... are you here to help?

[bashfulshifter]

[This conversation could not be going any smoother, surely.]

[Rick nods, a silent reply.] ...A-Are you?

Yes... I hope I can...

Battle of the nervous stammers

[bashfulshifter]

[He smiles reassuringly and goes quiet for a few moments. Then he thinks about it...and squints, with just a hint of confusion.]

...What a-are you, um... [Rick waves his arms, summoning a more appropriate phrase from the aether.] ...I m-mean, wh--what are y-you i-i-interested in d-doing, h-here?

[Taiki is rather young to be doing intensive research, he thinks...but then again, he's already worked with the younger Sephiroth in the Tower, and his experiences with a particular genius back home tells him that he shouldn't judge based on age.]

[notagiraffe]

Oh... um... I don't know much about science... but... um... [He shuffled his feet] I'm going to be helping as a mover...

[bashfulshifter]

Th--That's good! [Rick nods and grins with approval.] I'm...s-sure y-you'll be a g-great h-help t-to your t-team.

[notagiraffe]

I hope so... sorry... what are you... going to do?

[bashfulshifter]

[Rick chuckles softly. What on earth is the poor kid sorry for? Goodness, Taiki apologizes more than he does. Pointing this out probably would make things worse, so of course he doesn't.]

I'm, um...n-not sure, y-yet. [He gives his chin a pensive scratch.] ...I'm not v-very s-scientific m-myself, but...I did a-a l-lot of n-n-note-taking and o-organizing b-back home. I hope that c-can be u-useful.

I'm sure... um... it will be. They will need notes... [He smiled] Um... I'm Taiki by the way...

[bashfulshifter]

["I know," Rick almost says. That would also be in poor taste, so instead he offers a hand.]

...Rick. It's n-nice to m-meet you.

[notagiraffe]

Ni... Nice to meet you Rick... [He took the hand with an even shyer smile and shuffled his feet.]

[bashfulshifter]

...Y-You'll do fine. [A true statement, not entirely out-of-the-blue.] Don't w-worry about it.
