Event: Quarantine
Characters: any characters trapped in rooms during the event
Setting: dormitory level rooms
Format: any
Summary: An unexpected series of explosions has trapped residents in the dorm rooms with no power and no way to get out. Try to communicate with the outside, deal with being stuck in a small room with other people... Deal with the really strange things that seem to be happening, too.
Warnings: typical Animus horror event warnings
[There are several more explosions, and the sound of things falling and crumbling outside. The dorm rooms themselves don't collapse or cave in, but the furniture and trunks and nightstands may be rattled and knocked about. Eventually, the lights flicker and go out entirely, leaving everyone in the dark. There are small red emergency lights lining the floors, but they don't seem to have come on all the way, and flicker on and off eerily.
After maybe twenty minutes everything falls silent. However, if you try the door, you'll find you can't get out...]

What'd that be?

Thanks f'the offer. Don't take it personal, but I'd rather try the knife.
[He does appreciate it, but he's wary of strangers bearing magical gifts in the Tower. Instead, he nods at Xion to take the knife.]
Kid, you got any bandages? This'll get messy real quick.

Shion probably would, but... [But he's not here.] I can try healing you once you're done, or...
[She fingers the hem of her shirt. It's a little big, as the shirts she's made tend to be, so it shouldn't be too hard to cut strips off of it. Not to mention she doesn't really care. She can make another, if she needs to.]

I've got some. I started carrying them after the elevator.
[It takes a moment to rustle around the inner pockets of his tunic - one good thing about the tabard, its pockets were easier to access - but he eventually pulls up a wad of clean bandages and brings them over to the two.]
Here.

Considering I don't have any painkiller... Xion, just so ya know, don't ever do it this way unless it's a real emergency.
[Anyone can see where this is leading up.]
You're gonna have to pull it. Shrapnel's a bitch to get out... If we weren't trapped in here, I'd just tell ya to get some water to irrigate it and dress it 'til we got down to the infirmary... [Well, they didn't exactly have any water to do that... and who knew how long he was going to be in there? As he speaks, he's using one of his bandanas to tie a tourniquet around the injured arm to slow down bleeding.] These're large pieces, not the little kind ya get with gunshots, so it'll be easier. I'd never ask ya to do this if it'd hit me in the side or leg or if they were deeper, but it feels and looks pretty superficial.
[It says a lot when he can actually tell if a wound is serious or superficial by the feel of it. Taking a deep breath, he continues.] Most of 'em have one end on the surface. Unless anyone's got any tweezers, you're gonna have to use your fingers to grab 'em, like they're splinters. Don't put pressure on 'em unless ya have to. If there's any ya can't see, you'll have to use the point of the knife to draw 'em out. Hopin' ya don't have to do that.
Oh, an' I'm gonna cuss. A lot.

Okay
[She nods once, a jerky little thing, then reaches a hand out. She pauses a little when she sees her hands shaking, closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. When she opens them again, her hands are steadier, and she reaches forward and grasps the nearest, largest piece of shrapnel she can see. Carefully she tries to pull, though she's never done this before and, for the first one in particular, it's probably not as painless as it could be as she draws it out, though she does try. ]

I'm sorry I'm sorry-
[The apologies continue, frequent and frantic, as she works, slowly, carefully drawing out each piece. She's able to get most of them, and thankfully she gets better as she goes, so that the last few are probably the least amount of painful as removing them could get.
But there's one or two spots where she can't see them.
She turns to Sola-ui again, very pale.]
I think... I'll need the knife now.
[For as unsteady as she probably looks, her voice is surprisingly calm]

Here. And if it proves too hard for you, then let me do it.

It's okay. I'll be fine.
[For Reno's sake, she'd have to be. She knew he didn't want anybody else to do this and to tell the truth she didn't want anybody else to either.
Sola was right, the blade really is a bit big for what they need, but considering the alternative was a sword, it's the best they can do. Xion slips her hand down, onto the blade itself, mostly disregarding any cuts she gets in the process. There's a moment of trepidation before she slips the blade into the first of the two spots she wasn't able to find a visible edge for.
The apologies start up again as she figures out how to draw the first, then the second to the surface and pull it out, and her hands are slick with blood by the time she pulls the last one out.]
D-do you feel anything else?
[If not, they can start bandaging, and she can try healing it to keep it from getting any worse. Xion wipes her hands on her shirt. It's a sad statement that blood on her clothes isn't even really worth much more a passing observation, anymore]

Bandage it.
no subject
Is that better?
[She wants to be sure she didn't mess something up]
