Event: Quarantine

Summary: An unexpected series of explosions has trapped residents in the dorm rooms with no power and no way to get out. Try to communicate with the outside, deal with being stuck in a small room with other people... Deal with the really strange things that seem to be happening, too.
Warnings: typical Animus horror event warnings

[There are several more explosions, and the sound of things falling and crumbling outside. The dorm rooms themselves don't collapse or cave in, but the furniture and trunks and nightstands may be rattled and knocked about. Eventually, the lights flicker and go out entirely, leaving everyone in the dark. There are small red emergency lights lining the floors, but they don't seem to have come on all the way, and flicker on and off eerily.

After maybe twenty minutes everything falls silent. However, if you try the door, you'll find you can't get out...]

[Servants don't have to sleep and even if they did, Diarmuid would have had too much on his mind to do so, that is why he is wide awake when the 'delivery' is made to the room. At first, he is more interested in the doors that open to make the delivery, but it very quickly becomes obvious that they offer no way out of the room. His attention then turns to the note and what has come with it. There are only five bottles of water and seven of them, but thankfully, the fact that several of them are servants makes that a lot less of a problem.

He turns to the room and holds up the tray.]

Well, it's not food, but water is better than nothing. And collar fluid. I guess we know where their priorities are, don't we?

[Ha ha, sleep. What was that again?] Reasonable enough. I didn't really assume we'd be left to die with Riki in charge, at the very least. We could be lucky this happened now and not next month.

[Not really seeming too bothered by the syringes, Waver examined the entire collection of items before picking up the one with his name (rather his title, he idly noted) on it.]

So. If anyone's particularly squeamish or hesitant to stab themselves, speak up now and I won't mind doing it for you.

This is two months in a row, Waver. Instead of saying we are lucky, we might want to think more about what we will do when it becomes three months in a row and it is Ruana who is in charge...

[He watches as Waver looks at the syringes.]

I wonder what is different about what is in those than the normal collar fluid. Why is it going to cause side effects when the normal checks don't? Do you think we should keep one to...

[His voice trails off there. Diarmuid knows Waver will understand what he means and he doesn't want to say it out loud just to be safe.]

[Suzaku hadn't slept either, though he had made himself sit down from his endless pacing in the early hours, realising that he may disturb the others. So he had been stood by the door, a silent sentry until the tray had arrived.] Since our souls are the only thing in danger of permanent damage, I can agree with their priorities.

[He frowns at Diarmuid's words, not understanding but getting the general idea] I think it is best to be safe.

...I'm with Suzaku on this. While I'd like to know why this is different, I don't want any of us to risk going without it.

...But we don't need to inject ourselves until the day of our collar checks, right?

[Lancer pipes up, having stayed silent and listen before.]

I mean, Diarmuid and I are violet. Don't think we're due until the end of the week, whenever that is.

While that's a good point, there's no material here to so much as inspect it more closely. Everything my team had is fuck-all knows where, hopefully relatively safe.

I don't have any either. [He frowned] I believe for now survival is more important than experimentation.

It's safe. I hid it myself.

[Diarmuid really doesn't want to think about them having lost everything already. Especially to a freak event like this one.]

But on the chance some of the samples were lost, doesn't it makes even more sense to keep some of this back? How about someone just taking a half injection instead of a full one? It would give us less material to work with once we can, but perhaps it would be enough to stave off any side effects.

Besides, there are three of us with violet collars here. Waver...

[He turns to his friend.]

You know I have been uneasy about Sephiroth's group having all the violet fluid. This would give us a change to get some of it into the hands of others...

No. Hell no, in fact. [Waver crossed his arms, stubbornly not budging from this stance.] This is monumentally stupid and I can't believe it's even a matter up for debate. I don't trust Sephiroth any more than you do, but I also don't know how long we'll be stuck here.

It was a stupid idea when they did it on a widespread level and it's a worse idea now. We're not doing this, period, bottom line, end of story.

...If anyone takes only a half-dose, it shouldn't be any of you.

[Lancer looks down at his syringe. It's obvious what he's thinking.]

No. [Suzaku steps up to Diarmuid stubornly, being a brother knight goes both ways you know] No one is forgoing Collar liquid. Did you not hear what Ruana said that time, it is a very bad fate to lose your soul here, and the liquid protects our souls as far as we can find out.

Besides, if someone's going to go comatose, it probably shouldn't be the strongest people in here. That's stupid.

[He sighs.]

I still don't need this till the end of the week.

[Diarmuid signs and then throws up his hands. He doesn't mind risking himself. After all, even if things go terribly wrong, he hasn't died that often here. He can handle it. Better than his brother who has died too many times so far, and since it is his idea, better than Karna who shouldn't have to risk himself on a risky plan that isn't his own.

However, with the whole room against it so strongly, how can he keep arguing?]

But if I don't do it, no one does. Is that clear? It was my idea. I wouldn't want anyone else risking it.

Besides, if we are looking at this in terms of strength, we all know I'm the weakest servant in the room.

[There is bitterness in that. Someone's feeling very useless right now. Don't mind him. He just hates not being able to do anything to help everyone who is trapped here.]

[Waver frowned, hand almost immediately delivering a slap upside Diarmuid's head. He'd probably break his hand long before actually hurting the knight even if he was trying, but this was meant more to call attention to a stupid comment than actually injure.]

No one's doing it, if I have to hold them down and stab them in the fucking neck myself. And you, stop that. I don't give a damn about power scales and whatever, so knock that shit off.

[He did not look impressed, to say the least.]

No.

[Lancer's answer is definite.]

You shouldn't risk yourself, bro. Not when you need to protect Waver.

And you're far from weak.

[Ken's listened to this quietly, and pushes himself up.]

I... ah. I have a lot of skills but...

[He taps his yellow collar.]

Why is it always a battle to see who can be the most altruistic?

[Asagi huffs, because really- she doesn't see the point in anyone being so sacrificial for an off chance at... something.

Whatever the hell they're up to with collar fluid, there will be other chances.]

Hey, Professor- if it comes down to holding them down to do it, I'll help.

I don't actually think it'll come to that. Will it? [Looking pointedly at Cu Chulainn because boy aren't you arguably the dumbest motherfucker in the room. Sighing, he turned to Ken with a notably calmer tone to his voice.]

If you're not up to doing it yourself, I'll take care of it.
