Event: Quarantine

Characters: any characters trapped in rooms during the event
Setting: dormitory level rooms
Format: any
Summary: An unexpected series of explosions has trapped residents in the dorm rooms with no power and no way to get out. Try to communicate with the outside, deal with being stuck in a small room with other people... Deal with the really strange things that seem to be happening, too.
Warnings: typical Animus horror event warnings

[There are several more explosions, and the sound of things falling and crumbling outside. The dorm rooms themselves don't collapse or cave in, but the furniture and trunks and nightstands may be rattled and knocked about. Eventually, the lights flicker and go out entirely, leaving everyone in the dark. There are small red emergency lights lining the floors, but they don't seem to have come on all the way, and flicker on and off eerily.

After maybe twenty minutes everything falls silent. However, if you try the door, you'll find you can't get out...]

Probably too long. It's always too long.

[The second line is muttered as Isamu turns his eyes back to the door.

That...demon had always taken too long, except when it benefited him.]

altitonant_emperor: is that a cigarette butt on the floor (♔ i might lose a friend as a consequence)

[personal profile] altitonant_emperor 2013-09-28 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
[ you sound bitter friend.

But that mumble sounds like personal history to Hidetoshi and he feels no compulsion to pry into his private business. He tries to scrub the grime off his shirt.
]

In meantime, I imagine we'll have to work out sleeping arrangements. There's not enough beds for all of us.

[ Be productive and all that to avoid despairing. Treat peoples' injuries with what they had on hand. Though there are probably a couple people who are weirdos who don't require sleep. ]

[He hadn't even wanted to think about the sleeping arrangements, and he looks over the area now with that same disgruntled expression.]

I'm still the newbie. I'll probably be booted to the floor.

[This isn't even his room. Whoever it belongs to will get first dibs for sure.]
altitonant_emperor: that guy's gonna get himself punched in the face (♔ history has proven that)

[personal profile] altitonant_emperor 2013-09-28 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[ This room doesn't look that 'lived-in' despite the current crowding. He shrugs, facial expression kept neutral. ]

No, we'll vote about that first. A single person wouldn't have all the say in here. We could do rotations, though the injured should probably take priority.

[ He's doing a headcount: himself, Isamu, Allen, four other boys and one women. There are four beds, meaning at the best, half of them will be sleeping on the floor or sharing a bed. That prompts a humous; ]

But if you are, you'll hardly be alone there in this scenario.

[The injured. Right. That made sense, unfortunately, and since it's doubtful he's going to get much sleep anyway, he might as well get used to the idea of sleeping on the floor. That he wouldn't be alone in doing so was hardly a consolation.]

And how many of them [He nods to the other group] already know each other? My vote already won't count for much.

[He shakes his head.] Whatever.
altitonant_emperor: if i could get people like him to change their ways (♔ i rambled on about rules and fairness)

[personal profile] altitonant_emperor 2013-09-29 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Hidetoshi really doesn't want to devote time right now to discussing the merits of voting against possible favoritism/bias with somebody who seems to relentlessly bent on negativity and not productivity. If Isamu believes that will happen, later he should do something himself to make that possible unfairness clear to the entire group.

He sighs, forehead wrinkling.
]

Tch. Fine. [ In response his 'whatever.' ]

If that's how you want to think of it. [ be that way!! ]

Don't see how I can't think of it that way.

[He's the most clear-headed person in this group, obviously.]

...I wonder who'll be the first to get eaten if we run out of food.
altitonant_emperor: murderers liars thieves moving in darkened rows (♔ I had my doubts)

[personal profile] altitonant_emperor 2013-10-01 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
[ Curtly: ] That's morbid.

[ He manages to refrain from either rolling his eyes in annoyance or staring down his nose at Isamu. ]

In that dire of a situation, it would probably be a better idea to die and be revived later rather than resort to cannabalism.

You really think people would just let themselves starve to death? People will do crazy things when they're that hungry. It messes with the mind.

[He taps the side of his head a couple times. He knows his horror movies, okay? A human is just a step above a demon, when it all comes down to it.]

Gotta think of the worst case scenario. It only goes up from there.

[ Horror movie tropes B| He corrects Isamu flatly; ]

No, I don't. I certainly wouldn't. There are sharp instruments in this room to hurry the process along if required. I have no desire to stoop to cannibalism.

[ The effects of staying in the Tower for too long: Hidetoshi can discuss possible suicide without feeling like it's that big of deal or feeling sickened. And without considering it the worst case scenario.

Biting back annoyance:
]

That side of human nature is something I also have no desire to tangle with, but thanks for reminding me.

That's fine for you. There's more than just you here.

[No point in arguing it now, really. They'd all see if things took a turn for the worse.]

You don't always get a choice in tangling with it, and we're locked in here. There's no avoiding anything.
