Event: Quarantine

Summary: An unexpected series of explosions has trapped residents in the dorm rooms with no power and no way to get out. Try to communicate with the outside, deal with being stuck in a small room with other people... Deal with the really strange things that seem to be happening, too.
Warnings: typical Animus horror event warnings

[There are several more explosions, and the sound of things falling and crumbling outside. The dorm rooms themselves don't collapse or cave in, but the furniture and trunks and nightstands may be rattled and knocked about. Eventually, the lights flicker and go out entirely, leaving everyone in the dark. There are small red emergency lights lining the floors, but they don't seem to have come on all the way, and flicker on and off eerily.

After maybe twenty minutes everything falls silent. However, if you try the door, you'll find you can't get out...]

"Seventh fonon..." At least it gave him something to focus on for a bit. "So there's seven fonons... do others specialize in each as well? Is the classification based on ability of each fonon, or something more esoteric?"

"Yes, the seventh fonon. The fonon of sound. It is what causes the vibrations of our world," and so much more than that, "It's a recently discovered fonon. From my world, fonons are the essence of life."

She tried to explain it as carefully as she could, "Yes, there are six others, deriving from the elements. I'm not sure if fonons apply to the Tower, but they must have substituted it with something similar to fonons."

At least, for her abilities to work.

"The first fonon is called Shadow, which has elements of darkness, second fonon is Gnome, the element of earth, the third fonon Sylph, the element of wind, the fourth fonon, Udine, the element of water, fifth fonon is Efreet, the element of fire, and the sixth fonon is Rem, the element of life. I've already mentioned that the seventh fonon is sound, also know as Lorelei."

"The first through sixth fonons are relatively easy to maintain if one has the ability and discipline to. The seventh fonon, however is very new,a nd there are only a few of which are capable pf utilizing it."

Capell listened carefully, it was different than Lunaglyph's but similar enough in theory, just with different practicalities. He nodded along, "And does healing only belong to the seventh Fonon?"

"Is this an ability one is born with, or is it something that any can do?" At least in the case of the Seventh Fonon, it sounded like one had to have the knack for it in some fashion. "How kind, to provide an artificial means for your abilities to work without issue. I am grateful, at least..."

Another thought. "Sound... is that why you spoke that incantation? The sound activates the ability?"

"Yes, those who possess healing artes are those capable of using the seventh fonons."

She replied nodding her head to his word.

"I suppose it is something that you would have to be born with. I am aware that there are those who cannot utilize the seventh fonons. If you are not careful, the seventh fonon could be out of your control," she shook her head, "I'm not quite certain, but I am sure that the seventh fonon doesn't exist in such a place as this."

There's a quiet pause form her before adding, "Yes, some artes require specific incantations to activate."

Capell nodded along, it really didn't seem that different to how lunaglyph's worked, just a different basis for them, a different way of utalising power. Xehanort seemed to have a lot of questions though, maybe magic such as this didn't exist on his world, so Capell stayed silent and let him ask.

"Do all fonons require such incantations to activate? Outside of the seventh fonon, it's possible for anyone to use them, I believe you said..."

He trails off for a moment, considering something. He looks a little sad after a moment.

"I suppose as it's not your real body that it doesn't need real fonons to do the abilities, just the illusion that you're using something like fonons. Or maybe the actual artes are just illusions themselves..."

"There are few that don't require incantations or activation phrases. It is possible if one has opened fon slots in their bodies. In short, fonons are the essential part of our world, it may be a bit different for others to utilize the abilities of fonons."

Tear was being as informative as she could possibly be in her current situation, but a lot of things required long winded explanations, and she's uncertain if he can fully understand it or not.

Capell is right, it is a different basis, but maybe it had similarities to what his 'lunaglyphs,' are.

"I suppose not. It is unexplainable but theorizing it as an illusion according to my knowledge, seems fitting."

So the illusions were so great that they could copy power that was similar to that of lunaglyphs. Capell wondered if he would be able to enchant things here, he hadn't tried so far, hadn't needed to.

"It is a very believable illusion." He looked back to Xehanort, who was now healed. How was that not real?

Xehanort was quite content to poke at his healed flesh, marveling at the solidity of it. Even if the original injury and subsequent healing were illusions, they were quite good illusions. It would have been enough to keep him silent if he'd been afraid, but he's not. Already he wants to try other things, to see what else happens...

Though for now he's content to sit and get his breath back. It had been a rather solid blow, and there is still some (illusionary) soreness to contend with.

"It is indeed... the pain felt real, and then the flesh knitting itself together... Ah... fon slots... how one utilizes fonons around them, I assume?"

Sorry, Tear, he just wants to keep going, illusion or not.

"Yes, very real. It as almost hard to believe that it isn't real."

From what she had been told from Asch, it was hard to put that thought aside. She continued to looked at the two males while she stopped speaking for a moment. Of course, it was fine that he asked. She was always willing to give information when people wanted it.

"I suppose that is one way to define it. It's a bit of a complicated process."

So very real illusions, one you could feel. Capell had never seen or heard of anything like it before. He stayed quiet though, since Xehanort had questions and tried to follow Tear's answers.

Xehanort looked to Capell, wondering if it was all right for him to pelt Tear with as many questions as he could think of, or to request long-winded explanations from her. He knew such things were of interest to him, but the others may not be so excited to hear such things...

"If you feel up to it, I'd like something to think about while we're stuck here. It keeps the mind busy. Even if it's xenobiology, it's still fascinating... especially in regard to the way one's powers work. I will do my best to follow your words."

Tear was fairly used to the whole situation, so she never minded. She knew that Capell looked a little quiet and Xehanort was asking her many questions. It reminded her of her friends.

She didn't mind his interest too much.

"If you wish to learn more about the subject, I can certainly try to assist when we are in better circumstances," she replied nodding her head.

Capell smiled, he knew people who drank in knowledge as well, it was quite nice to see and he didn't mind at all.

That would have to do. He would have pressed the issue, but as they had to share a room for an indeterminate amount of time he did not want to annoy or upset them so early on.

"I'll hold you to that. Thank you for the offer."

It's nice to know that there were people who would listen to her long lectures and not get bored of them. There's a much gentler look on her face than before when they first met. Capell seemed rather fascinated as well. Tear didn't seem to mind at all.

"If there is anything I can assist you with in regards to that, please ask."

She replied nodding her head to the silver haired man.

Capell just smiled at them both and leaned back, head against the bed resting for a moment whilst it was quiet. You never knew when you would have to move or fight, and resting when you could was important.
