Characters: Cid and you.
Setting: Room 2-04, the workshop, cafeteria and anywhere else.
Format: Starting with prose, but will match.
Summary: Cid awakens in the Tower. Appropriate canon point means his world being destroyed makes a lot of sense. He then goes off to explore the tower and discover with horror what they've done to the tea in this horrible, horrible place.
Warnings: %^$@#$%@#!!
• Dormitories Floor (Room 2-04)
To some people, the thought that your world may have been destroyed makes absolutely no sense. But to Cid, it actually made a whole lot sense. Mind you, last thing he could remember, the meteor was crashing into the planet-- And while both Holy and the Lifestream were working at stopping it, there was no saying as to whether or not it had worked.
Guess that letter settled it. It had not worked.
Not that it really made that much sense though, since if his world had indeed been destroyed, nobody should have been able to rescue him. Well, guess there was only one way to get some straight answers. Grumbling, he went through his trunk's content and grabbed his equipment-- With his speak noticeably broken into pieces, thank you tower, before heading out. This smelt like something Shinra would do, and he needed answers.
• Cafeteria (Day 2)
Like everyone else, Cid had gone through his oatmeal the day before, but not without an healthy amount of swearing. Who in the world would want to eat oatmeal? Certainly not him. This tower was clearly as bad as it looked. He was a bit more enthusiast today though, as he had seen the other meals offered by the tower and they didn't look half as bad. He went for the pancakes first-- And then grimaced.
"... Pumpkin pancakes?" he left the pancake aside after one bite and moved on to take a bit of the roasted seeds-- Only to stop halfway in and brush the dish aside as well. "... Pumpkin flavored seeds."
The hell was up with that? At least they provided him with tea, they were decent enough, right? Not what he thought any more after drinking it.
"Goddamn pumpkin tea!" he slammed the cup on the table "$^@#*$ù%!! Why is everything infected with pumpkin in this damn cafeteria?!"
• Workshop (15th Floor)
At some point Cid found the workshop and stayed in it. The Tower had been nice enough to provide him with his weapon of choice, a spear, namely the "Venus Gospel". But unfortunately, it had been broken into pieces so as to fit into his trunk, pretty much killing the whole point of having a spear as weapon.
But no matter, he'd decided to take the matter into his own hands. Using whatever good metal he could find around, heating the spear's pieces and hammering them, he started working on putting the pieces back together into a coherent whole. He had made his first spear himself after all, fixing a broken one shouldn't be beyond his capabilities. It was tough and tiring to do, though.
• Random Corridors
You'll find Cid exploring the tower for the next couple days with his spear in hand and ready to cast a spell at the first sign of trouble. This tower got a lot of floors, too many if you asked him, but given he couldn't leave anytime soon he'd rather get to know the various floors.

Cafeteria
It's always like this in October. I don't really get it, but... Makes me think of one of the worlds I went to back home.
Um... did you just get here, recently?
[He doesn't look familiar; it sounded like it was his first October at least. She doesn't yet know or realize he's from Reno's world, but the pin that Reno gave her was attached to her coat, plain to see if Cid were to look.]
no subject
Makes me think the cook is one hell of a numskull. And you're tellin' me it's gonna be like that till November?!
[ That had to be a bad joke alright. He wouldn't survive a full month with stupid pumpkin stuff as only food. or at least someone would have to find a way to extract the pumpkin from the damn tea. He nodded at her question and finally turned to her. ]
That's right, yesterday to be exact.
[ And he had already seen enough to say his stay in the tower would be just lovely. Freakin' place crawled with even more monsters and traps than Northern Crater.
... And he spotted that pin as he spoke. He didn't pay much attention to it at first, but then his glare went back to it. He was not saying a word yet, just. Squinting. ]
no subject
Yeah. Unless we get food other ways, this is all for the rest of the month. But... just trust me, the menu's the least of our problems.
[As he squinted at the pin though, eventually Xion glanced down at herself. Had she spilled something? Or did he recognize the coat, maybe?]
no subject
[ An entity destroying worlds, soul eaters, a deadline before they all die-- Gone through that stuff already, that was getting old. But he replied absentmindedly, still focused on the pin. ]
Tell me kid, where d'ya get that thin' on your chest?
[ He pointed the pin-- The Turk one quite obviously. The abundance of Shinra-related stuff in this tower was clearly unsettling. ]
no subject
A friend gave it to me. [Beat] Are you from Gaia?
[Did he know what the pin meant?]
no subject
[ He certainly knew what that pin meant-- Well not in details. That was a Shinra pin alright, now whether it was a pin from the Research Department, from the Turks or from the Defense Department, it was guesswork. ]
Sounds like whoever gave ya that pin already filled you in on our world.
[ And he was starting to have a pretty clear idea of who could have given her that pin. He had not met that much Shinra so far in the tower, after all. ]
no subject
It was that that helped her decide to opt for trust.]
Reno gave it to me, over a year ago. I'm Xion. It's nice to meet you.
no subject
[ He just nodded when Xion told her name and immediately took a sip of the awful pumpkin tea. Stupid Turk. What was going through his mind? Recruiting for Shinra was questionable enough, but recruiting kids was even worse. ]
Remin' me to kick his dumb Turk ass next time I see him.
no subject
[Xion sounds downright horrified at the suggestion. This is her mentor, her dad you're talking about.]
And he's not dumb!
[Most of the time.]
no subject
Because he's an idiot, that's why.
[ And nothin' would ever change that very simple and rational fact of nature. He sighed though upon seeing Xion's reaction, scratching the back of his head as he replied. Kids these days. ]
Hey listen, I want ya to know I ain't disliking him-- I'm not gonna literally kick his ass, a'right? [No matter how much he'd deserve it.] His only defaults are bein' a Shinra and his sad sense of humor. But Gaia's been smashed to pieces an' he finds time to recruit for Shinra? I mean kid, come on.
no subject
I think he cared more about giving me a family and people I could trust and feel safe around. That means a lot, here in the Tower.
[At least, that's what being a Turk meant to her.]
no subject
[ Can't say, if Reno really did it to give the kids of this tower some sort of family they could belong to, he had to applaud the effort. Not so surprising, it had been obvious most Turks were less cold-hearted as they looked. Just, making them Turks along the way was probably not to be applauded. ]
Still Shinra an' Turks ain't really the kind of stuff bringin' family or trust to my mind. An' it paints you as a damn red target if @^#$%@# like Palmer or Hojo eve' pop up.
[ That and Shinra is sort of synonymous with soul-sucker company that destroys the planet, but details. ]
no subject
[Because she vaguely remembers that he was here before, that Shion had worked with him in the infirmary sometimes. And he hadn't done anything to her then, even though she'd been made a Turk by then. Then again, the Tower probably had presented its own infinite opportunities for... whatever it would be that Hojo would've wanted to research.
She grimaces, toying at the food on her plate.]
I think Jason's worse anyway.
[She may be eternally biased in that regard, though.]
no subject
[ Well, shit. People in Sephiroth's family needed to learn how to die and most importantly, how to stay dead.
Cid never heard about Jason (yet), but as far as he was concerned, beating the freak level of Hojo and all his Jenova experiments would be hard. And he didn't even know half of the entire story. ]
I dunno a thing about any Jason, but trust me when I say Hojo is a nutcase ya don't want anywhere near you. Dude would experiment on his own son. Guess Reno got his reasons thou'.
[ He better. ]
no subject
[Her voice is... unbelievably matter-of-fact.]
I know Hojo's a problem, but he's not here, and even if he was, he isn't in charge. Jason is.
no subject
[ Cid still wasn't convinced any of this was beating the level of Hojo-horror, but that made it clear enough this Jason dude was no joke. ]
Guess that makes him the threat to deal with around here.
