Summary: Suzaku has been good, done what Diarmuid told him and left Lelouch well alone. But curiosity gets the best of him at the end
Warnings: Angsty, angry boys, mind wipe, betrayal, Code Geass awfulness also spoilers

Suzaku had been working hard all month, focusing on the collar researching and doing his best to avoid Lelouch and Rolo. But he couldn't put the matter out of his mind. Diarmuid had told him to leave it but he had to know. If this was a Lelouch from another world then his worries would be for nothing. Even though it was still not healthy for Rolo it was safe and Suzaku couldn't exactly begrudge happiness, since these would be the last months Rolo was alive. Even if the worlds were restored... Rolo was dead.

However is Suzaku was right, if this Lelouch was from his own world, having lost his memories due to Geass. He could be dangerous to Rolo, and to others if the glamour went off. It had flickered a bit the last month and Suzaku had heard nothing, but he needed proof.

So he was at his door, Arthur in his arms, teeth sunk into a finger and his gun at his side like always. He knocked.

Lelouch hadn't been out and about recently, mostly because of the fact that he had still not obtained a weapon. With everything that's been going on, he really needed one and to know that he could take care of himself. It wasn't that he doubted himself...but without the skills that others had, he felt that he would be one of the first to go down here.

He had found some books to occupy himself as he stayed in his room. He wanted so badly just to go home and have everything back to normal. Or, at least as normal as they could be. Things here weren't normal and it seemed like they never would be.

He was surprised to hear a knock at the door. Lelouch was pretty sure that Rolo was busy at this moment, so who could it be? He hesitated a moment, but went to open the door. There was a soft sigh from him as he saw who it was...but then he looked a bit worried as his eyes went straight towards the cat that was in Suzaku's arms.

"Did you just find that cat? I'm fairly certain that it doesn't want to be held. Maybe you should put it down before you start bleeding. Do you even know if it's had shots?"

Suzaku is the worst cat dad

Arthur meowed at him before sinking his teeth back into Suzaku's finger. Arthur had changed a bit from his two years in the tower, he was thinner, more mean looking. Missing half an ear from a fight with who knew what monster. His coat was more than often stained with blood from his ongoing mission to wipe the bullfairies from the face of the tower.

"It's Arthur." Suzaku told him, "Or at least a false film replica of him." Did Arthur even feature in Lelouch's memories? He scratched the cats ears, getting his hand scratched in return.

"I'm sorry, I don't remember you ever having a cat." Lelouch had to interrupt himself as he reached a hand out. He wasn't sure what to do, but maybe he could do something to get the cat to not scratch or bite the other.

Lelouch was worried that this cat would do the same thing to him that it was doing to Suzaku. Maybe it wouldn't though. Just maybe. He gently pet the cat, mindful of it's ear and he smiled lightly.

"Did you need something, Suzaku? You didn't walk over here to show me your cat."

Arthur didn't mind at all, he meowed happily and even let go of Suzaku's finger to rub his cheek on Lelouch's hand. "I wanted to talk to you." He frowned, this would be the hardest part, actually getting Lelouch to go with him. Lelouch didn't have much reason to trust him.

"About what?" Lelouch continued to pet Arthur, as long as he didn't bite Suzaku again. For Suzaku, it probably seemed like a faint memory of when Lelouch was happy and they all had normal lives. Though things weren't technically normal here, things might have been a lot calmer at least without all of Lelouch's yelling and hateful words.

Lelouch raised his eyes from Arthur, looking towards Suzaku. He didn't hate the other or have any bad feelings about him, besides from what had happened between him and Rolo. But there must have been some reason behind that... That's, at least, what he figured. "Are you here to explain what happened between Rolo and yourself?"

It did, and the memory was painful but he swallowed the pain as he went to pet Arthur again, feeling teeth sink into his fingers once more.

"I can do, though I would rather we walk if we are to be talking about such things."

Lelouch removed his hand from Arthur, "Where are we going?" He asked. He wasn't worried or anything, more curious than anything else. Suzaku seemed to keep to himself here and now he wanted to walk and talk with him.

Lelouch felt bad. Maybe something was wrong... It was obvious that he had been through a lot here. He might have just needed to talk to someone and to feel like this all wasn't for nohing.

He held out his hand, palm up. He wasn't taking any chances if he was to talk with him. Lelouch still remembered what he had done to his brother, "I'll come with you if you give me your gun."

"There are some hanging gardens, they are quite strange." Suzaku told him and then frowned. He looked down at his gun and back at Lelouch before sighing and handing it over. It wasn't like he couldn't disarm Lelouch if he needed to.

It was a matter of hope as well, hopefully this Lelouch was from a different world, and all that would happen today was that they would talk.

"There you go. I mean you no harm."

Lelouch's lips curled in to a small smile as he nodded, "I'll hold you to that." He said. He kept the gun in his hand and close to him as he waited for the other to start moving to where he wanted him to go.

Suzaku nodded, more like a small bow though he catches himself and begins to walk down the corridor. "I was trying to save him." He said softly, "You have been here more than a month now, so you know who Ruana is, right?" He assumed Rolo had brought him up to speed.

"I've heard of them and about them, but haven't actually met them. And I haven't met anyone else who seems to be in control of this place. What had happened?" Lelouch walked beside the other, not wanting others around them to think that he was taking him somewhere by gunpoint or anything.

"Let's hope you never do." It was a futile hope, Lelouch would end up being part of one of Ruana's games eventually.

Suzaku walked as casually as possible, for much the same reason that Lelouch was walking next to him, it would be easy to misinterpret if anyone saw them. Especially anyone who had known the last Lelouch to walk these halls.

"She turned a small group of people into monsters, monsters that only appeared at night. In the day time they were themselves, with memories of only sleeping or helping defeat the monsters at night.

If a resident killed a monster they became a monster themselves. It was chaos, the only way to make a monster turn back into a human for good was to kill them during the day time, when they were human." He looked down, "I had reason to believe Rolo had been affected, that he was one of the first monsters, but I was wrong."

That seemed rather...reasonable. He didn't blame the other. It did seem like he had been looking out for Rolo... Lelouch hadn't expected an answer like that and was a little surprised. There was a long pause from him.

"Even though you did hurt him, I wanted to thank you for taking care of him. You did what you thought was right at the time and I can understand." He said and gave a nod to the other as they continued to walk, "I hope that doesn't happen to me. I've been very careful since I've arrived here."

Suzaku looked down, "It was wrong, and I understand why Rolo is still angry about it. It is made worse by the fact that it turned out I was one of the original monsters..." He looked over at Lelouch. "Being careful is not really enough, Ruana is cruel and so are her games."

[doasisay]

"You were?" Lelouch frowned deeply, "Could it happen to you again? And what games are you talking about?"

[swordofzero]

"I was." He nodded and shrugged. "Such things happen a lot. Ruana is childlike in a twisted way. She enjoys playing games, last month did you know anyone who claimed they could see sweets lying around? They were part of such a game."

He stroked Arthur absently, "Once she had us play hide and seek with teddy bears, which murdered us when we were found. Those sorts of games."

[doasisay]

"No, I'm sorry, I didn't even hear about any of that. I suppose I was too preoccupied..." Lelouch looked over at him with a surprised expression, "How... Why?"

[swordofzero]

Suzaku nodded, it was understandable since he was still learning his way around. "Because she is all powerful and sees us as toys to play with. She is the cruelest of the administrators."

[doasisay]

"I can see why everyone is so eager to get away from this place." There was a pause from him as he was thinking, "Do you think they can do it?"

[swordofzero]

"No." Lelouch was perhaps the only person in the world Suzaku would admit this to, even if it was a Lelouch that didn't really know him. But the task was too big, the groups too fractured, the administrators far too powerful.

"But they believe it, and I have seen the impossible done before." Usually because of Lelouch, but not this one. "So I will fight for them anyways."

[doasisay]

Lelouch frowned at his answer, he didn't think the other would be so blunt about it. But continuing on when he knew that there was no hope was also surprising.

"That's brave of you to keep on going like that. Even though you think you won't succeed."

[swordofzero]

"I am not sure if it is brave or just foolish. But I fight for the friends I have made here, and their hope."

Suzaku paused, because they were almost at the staircase. "I hope you have not found things here too difficult so far."

"Not at all. Things aren't the same as they are at home, but it isn't that horrible. Thankfully I haven't had to fight anything."

Lelouch glanced behind Suzaku at the staircase, "Where are we going?"

"I hope you won't need to." He said, and he really did. It would be cruel to expect a Lelouch who thought himself nothing more than a Britannian student to fight.

"There is a hanging garden, it is quite interesting to see."

Lelouch gripped the gun in his hand, looking worried as he followed. a garden... that sounded nice enough but what of the monsters?

"How far up the stairs is it?"
