Happy Birthday, Ryoji

Characters: You know the drill. Lancer puppy_lancer, Ryoji notsogrimreaper, the people they invited between the two of them, and everybody else who just happens to stumble into the party.
Setting: Floor 25, November 17, morning-evening
Format: Open, anything goes
Summary: It's Ryoji's birthday, so Lancer is throwing him a big party. Anyone is welcome in! (And nobody is gonna kick out those who aren't so welcome)
Warnings: None for now

[It's been a long time since Lancer had thrown any parties. Therefore, he's making this bigger and grander than the last two parties he's thrown. It's a good way for him to distract himself from all the emotional turmoil that had popped up during the battle with Sephiroth, if anything.]

[There's two tables laden with food over at one side of the floor. The centerpiece for that is a big double-tier cake with "HAPPY BIRTHDAY RYOJI" written over the side of the bottom layer. The top layer is little more than a glorified candle holder, as several handfuls of candles have been jammed all over that second layer.]

[Over on the other side, there was a variety of party games. They're all old favorites like pin the tail on the piggy (pinning spiraling paper tails onto a "pig" with Ganon's face), apple bobbing (various fruits in a water-filled wooden barrel), and everyone's favorite--the pinata (a scarecrow with a berry-filled paper mache head supposed to represent Jason).]

[In the center of the floor, there is a stage nailed together from wooden boards. A ways behind that, a pile of wood stacks into a bonfire pyre. A turnip lantern leers at the party goers from one corner of the stage.]

[For decorations, there are black feathers and crude little paper doll cutouts resembling angels scattered around on the ground or in the corners of the dining tables. There are also a few more turnip lanterns.]

[And of course, Lancer, like a good host, stands on the stage, dressed like a hobby horse, waiting for people to show up. He's feeling pretty relaxed, if only because the major unwanted guest, Sephiroth, was locked up and in no danger of crashing this party.]

Pre-party mingle

[For those who came early or are here to help.]

[If anyone were to show up at an unreasonably early hour before the gathering (sans Lancer), it would definitely be this guy. He was asked to help anyways, wasn't he? It would be horribly rude of him not to show up in time to get things organized!]

[First things first: food. His hands are full on the first trip with several bowls of snacks, cooked and uncooked, several towels over his shoulder, and a small folding table tucked precariously under his arm. By time time Rick makes it from the cafeteria to the meadow he has realized how much of a mistake this was.]

[Someone might want to come take some of that stuff off his hands before it ends up on the ground.]

[Having been asked to help with setting up, Asagi's there to make sure things get set up in a way that isn't likely to collapse on anyone- and to make sure nothing too terribly stupid is attempted.

She's also been asked to help with the food, so she's brought up a table from the cafeteria, hoisting it over one shoulder with surprising ease, for people to set food on. Eventually she'll be bringing up food too, but she's waiting for it to be closer to party time for that. But if you need someone who is unreasonably strong to help with anything, Asagi's your girl- and while she might grouse, she'll do it anyway.

Food and Drinks

[There's lots of delicious food and a big cake. However, there's only myriad flavors of juice because Zo months never have alcohol.]

[Hanging around the snack bar is probably the easiest way to find Rick and get his attention, since he frequently makes trips from here to the kitchen and back to replenish and reorganize things. He makes himself busy, of course, but not so much that he won't say hello!]

[Surprisingly, Asagi's been convinced to help with the food as well. The cake is her doing- a large, chocolate confection covered in whipped frosting with 'Happy Birthday' in small, letter-shaped cookies along the bottom tier. She's also made some grilled turkey sandwiches, and a surprising amount of cupcakes and small pies. Eventually, she'll bring up a few pitchers of milkshakes as well, if only because she prefers them to any kind of juice.

And you'd better believe she's eating- usually the sandwiches in large, careful bites or the odd cupcake here or there.

Feel free to pester her about the snacks though.]

*Enoch sits on the grass near the table with some apple juice, which he's draining slowly, and some food, untouched. Maybe he isn't hungry - he seems a little out of it, in fact.*

Pin the Tail on the Piggy

[Much like the first time this game saw action, the poor, tortured animal is a pig. However, its face is painted green and red hair and big flaming eyebrows have been drawn on it to make it resemble Ganondorf. The "tails" are paper spirals taped to thumbtacks.]

Pinata

[The Jason head pinata is filled with a nuts and berries and attached to a scarecrow. In lieu of a blindfold, Lancer has hobbyhorse bone masks (don't ask where they came from).]

[There's a box full of backup pinatas after the present one gets nailed, so guests shouldn't hesitate to take a swipe at the Jason effigy.]

[ Oh man, this looks so cool. Urotsuki probably doesn't get that you actually have the be blindfolded for the whole pinata business, so instead she just gets enthusiastic at the idea of actually being allowed to mess something up here. It's why she'll enthusiastically (yet it doesn't show as much on her face, which is really blank) turn to whoever is nearby to ask them-- ]

Can I use my chainsaw? [ Please don't set a blindfolded girl with a chainsaw loose upon the party. Where are the responsible adults. ]

*Enoch seems to have come to reality some after eating and stares at the pinata with curiosity and...looking a bit unnerved by its appearance.*

What is this?

*He's not talking to anyone in particular, though of course an answer would be appreciated.*

"Apple" Bobbing

[It's mostly a random assortment of fruits, but they're floating in water and anyone is welcome to come and try to bob for one.]

[Kind of... squinting at this game because really. Really.

What the hell kind of game is this even? Honestly, she wonders if she shouldn't be concerned about someone accidentally drowning.]

Stage

[At the start of the party, Lancer has the stage. He's dressed in a traditional Irish hobby horse costume.]

Alright, this party needs some noise! Let's get some music and dancing and funny stories up here, people!

Bonfire

[Toward the end of the party, as it hits evening, Lancer climbs to the top of the bonfire stack.]

Hey, who wants to burn this thing? Give everyone here a blazing late Samhain?

[From the base of the stack, Asagi settles her hands on her hips and rolls her eyes.]

Or do you want someone to light it up with you up there?

Mingle

[There's going to be the sort of people who just want to mingle around in no set place.]

[O-Oh god Lancer told him this party was just the right size how is this the right size-

Ryoji's wandering around the whole party, more than a little overwhelmed. He was hardly ready to have a birthday with a few close friends. This on the other hand... he didn't even recognize half of the people! What's he supposed to say? He can't even really answer the question of how old he is...

Nerves aside, he is appreciating the work that was put into this, and eventually, he starts to get excited. He'll be welcoming whoever he happens across and making sure to introduce himself to those he doesn't know yet. Really, the best birthday present he could have asked for was more friends, right?]

[People don't generally invite Gilles to birthday parties, for some reason... But, he was invited, and he will not refuse! He seems to be doing rather well for himself in this place.

He is unsure of how to comport himself, but it's difficult for someone of his temperament to be a wallflower, so he fearlessly mingles, plunging into the fray. After some hesitation, he'd decided to wear his armor to the party instead of his robes (those being his only two choices), so he's encased in black metal, although he does not have his sword with him. Being dressed in this fashion, as well as being seven feet tall, he sort of stands out. But he's politely left his tentacle monsters behind, so there's that!]

[Waver kept to himself a bit more than usual today; he seemed to be in a terrible mood for one reason or another. The usual mercury familiar had formed a simple chair Waver was sitting in, arms folded and a cigarette in his mouth as he glared down practically everyone...especially Lancer.]

Yotsuba was the type of person that wandered about. Just because she had just come back from her destroyed world did not change this fact, so she had stumbled upon this super cool party while wandering around the Tower. As she wandered around and surveyed everything, her eyes and smile grew wide with joy and awe. This was just like the..birthday party that Dia had!

Was this another one?! She didn't know, but it sure looked like a lot of fun, even if she didn't know quite where to start right now. The food looked good though.]

[Okay, she actually dressed nice for this one. Literally nice. Mostly because Lancer was throwing this party for his nephew and this was for a birthday. She'd spent two of her own birthdays here and they'd gone uncelebrated because, with how things work here? She'd forgotten herself. Then again, different months were mostly signaled by the change of administration and they could only tell that by the cafeteria food.

Point is, Tetra dressed nice. And is behaving herself. Zelda should be so proud.]

[Amelia doesn't know Ryoji, but this is her favorite floor, and she's not about to turn away if there's a party going on. This is shaping up to be a pretty good month!

She wanders through the crowds, munching on a cupcake or three and making cheerful conversation with the other partygoers.]

Wallflowers

[And there there's going to be the people who don't want to mingle period.]

[After what happened to Diarmuid earlier in the day, he almost doesn't come. He's just too embarrassed at his current state. But this party is for his son, one of the people he cares about the most in the Tower. There is no way he can miss it, and he will never forgive himself if he does, mishap or not. On top of that, his brother had asked him to make sure Ryoji shows up on time. The whole thing will be for naught if Ryoji doesn't show.

However, after seeing his son to the meadow, Diarmuid edges away from the crowd, and any observant person will find it easy to see why he's leery to be out and about...

Puppy ears and a tail. He has them. Thanks to a run in with the fairy rings on floor 86, a pair of dark-brown, floppy ears and a dark-brown, long-haired tail have appeared on the Servant's body, and he has no idea how long he's going to be transformed like this for. It's better than some kind of slow tortuous death--though he's still not sure if Reno agrees since their freedom was bought with his homemade moonshine--but it is still rather embarrassing to be seen like this.

At least it's got him distracted from the outcome of the fight with Sephiroth--for good or ill.]
