Characters: Anyone coming to Zo's carnival
Setting: Cafeteria; please specify the date and location in the carnival in your subject header!
Format: Anything
Summary: Zo has set up a carnival for the residents, but it's not meant to last. Anyone wandering after the bombs go off might see things they never wanted to see...
Warnings: Psychological and body horror
Note: Characters entering the carnival from the 27th to the 30th will experience visions! Please refer to the info post for details and reply to this thread if your character enters the carnival during these days.

[The carnival has taken up the entirety of the cafeteria. A large roller coaster and ferris wheel tower over the residents, while a child-sized roller coaster, a merry-go-round, and spinning teacups project much less daunting silhouettes. Stands are set up with standard carnival foods available, from ice cream to cotton candy. These stands do not ask for anything as payment.

On the twenty-seventh, the carnival appearance changes. The machinery all appears rusted and broken down, as if weathered with decades of rain and snow. Plants grow up and around the rides, ruining them, and all the food is rotten.]

Not used to heavy machinery?

[It's the first thought that creeps into Riku's mind when he spots her amidst the many rides and assorted attractions. Admittedly, for Riku, fairgrounds bring back some unpleasant memories-- children turned into donkeys, spreading shadows, and that horrible screech and thud as the rides of Pleasure Island fell to pieces.

Still, despite his unease, he approaches with a small smile.]

Is it so obvious?

[She'll offer Riku a somewhat helpless smile of her own as he approaches, quite intimately aware she is in the minority when it comes to knowledge of these things. At least the food stands and festival games are vaguely familiar.]

My world does not have anything like these... giant contraptions, no.

Neither does mine, if you really want to get technical.

[He gives a light shrug of the shoulders before crossing his arms.]

The islands were always pretty rurual. Never even got to see an amusement park up close until Pleasure Island, and the less said about that world, the better.

[His smile wavers, but only for a few seconds, after which he snickers and waves one of his hands.]

Don't know how you feel about traveling at insane speeds, but that's one of the main draws with those machines. They're basically a thrill seeker's best friend.

[A bit of what he says goes over her head (did he just imply he was worldhopping before the Tower?), but that is all set aside at his explanation of the metal monstrosities. She immediately shakes her head, muscles tensing with the memory of that terrible drop down the elevator shaft.]

Oh, no, I believe I will pass on that. I have had enough thrills for one lifetime and then some, I think.

[NEVER AGAIN.]

[He bites his lip, trying not to laugh. He figures it's not the appropriate moment, given that the tower's ideas of thrills tend to equate to death, death, and more death...

Not to mention the elevator shaft in question. While RIku's venture down there went better than some other groups, it was hardly a picnic.]

Well, the Ferris Wheel's not so bad. All it really does is spin around in a circle. Slowly. Still, I can't blame you for taking it easy. It's not like our lives aren't crazy enough as it is.
