Characters: Anyone coming to Zo's carnival
Setting: Cafeteria; please specify the date and location in the carnival in your subject header!
Format: Anything
Summary: Zo has set up a carnival for the residents, but it's not meant to last. Anyone wandering after the bombs go off might see things they never wanted to see...
Warnings: Psychological and body horror
Note: Characters entering the carnival from the 27th to the 30th will experience visions! Please refer to the info post for details and reply to this thread if your character enters the carnival during these days.

[The carnival has taken up the entirety of the cafeteria. A large roller coaster and ferris wheel tower over the residents, while a child-sized roller coaster, a merry-go-round, and spinning teacups project much less daunting silhouettes. Stands are set up with standard carnival foods available, from ice cream to cotton candy. These stands do not ask for anything as payment.

On the twenty-seventh, the carnival appearance changes. The machinery all appears rusted and broken down, as if weathered with decades of rain and snow. Plants grow up and around the rides, ruining them, and all the food is rotten.]

[He's silent for a moment, considering how best to proceed.]

Which one do you like the best, do you think?

Mm. I imagine that would slow it down a little.

[She blinks, eyes flicking over the parts of the ride she can see, but--]

I don't know, I can't see all of them. Maybe--

[She'll just kind of. Edge to the side?]

[They should probably look around the whole thing, first.]

[He doesn't even wait, he's already started off, eying the elegantly-carved horses eagerly.]

You'll need to choose the steed you wish to ride, after all!

[This is bizarre.]

[That strikes her - albeit not for the first time - as she watches him hurry off so eagerly. For a moment she'd almost smiled, but--]

[But goodness, she still doesn't know quite what to make of this. Even so....]

[She trails after him, and actually does look at the steeds in question.]

I think it'll be a very hard decision...! There are plenty that look nice. [Gosh.] Maybe it would be easier if they could move. [And, you know, have personalities. ... That's a weird thing to think.]

They do move... they go up and down... [he makes the gesture with his hands excitedly.] Though it is a hard decision... hm. What's your favourite colour?

[Perhaps that might narrow it down a bit...]

-- They do? [That's pretty exciting...!] But do they actually run? [-- Er.] My favorite color? [....] I don't think I have one. I like a lot of colors...! Um-- but--... if I had to pick one.... [Gosh, this is hard.] ... Maybe blue?

Perhaps they might! Sometimes they go in circles as well... [he makes that movement with his hands, too] It's quite fun, and fairly safe...

Blue? That's a nice colour... hm.... [and he begins to wander around, looking for horses that are a nice shade of blue.] Ah! [From a bit behind a few rows of horses.] Perhaps this one?

I hope so. [Or at least, she hopes that that applies to these, too. Her voice is quiet.]

--! That one? [She leans a little, trying to get a good look at-- oh.] It's really blue...! I didn't know they made blue horses. [... Not that she doesn't feel a little silly after saying it. Anyway,] I, um-- which one are you going to ride?

This shall be my trusty steed! [He pats the one next to her, which is adorned with bells and coloured in purple and black.] I'm glad you found one you like...

[He gestures up to the horse again after a moment.] Do you need help mounting up?

[lethechained]

[... Hah. There's a tiny smile at the corner of her lips as she watches him, carefully making her way over to her own 'trusty steed'.] Thank you. I'm glad you did, too.

[She's just putting a hand on the blue horse when he asks that, and she turns to give him a slightly wide-eyed look.] -- Oh, no, I... I'll manage.

[She does, in fact, manage - just with a bit of difficulty, because she's a small girl and not a very strong one.]
