Summary: Riki's offered a way to help keep the Tower powered a little longer. Obviously this is going to cause a lot of discussion and debate so let's CONSOLIDATE
Warnings: Nothing as of yet. Possibly eventually, so keep an eye on subject lines and I 'll try to change to reflect any developments

[No doubt Riki's announcement would be polarizing, but the instructions themselves were clear: Floor 1 at noon if you want to help out. And if you want to meet people, try to talk them in or out of it? Or hell, maybe even just talk about the revelation on who is behind those explosions? Well, this is as good a place as any for that too.

...Then I hope nothing would go wrong for you and everyone here. I might stay behind, in case I need to help with healing and first aid.

And it looks like not everyone comes here to volunteer.

[David turns to look back over at Minato.]

You do healin'? Like, you got healin' powers?

[He's looking at Minato appraisingly, since, well ... the last time they talked, he didn't get the impression that the kid had superpowers.]

[Minato nods.]

I do. By summoning my Personas, I can use healing, supportive and offensive skills in battle.

[It's not ~~at endgame level~~ as powerful as the Wild Cards he knew here, but his wild range is good enough to act as support.]

[David immediately thinks "Mastermind" when hearing talk of summons. It's hard for him not to think of everything in terms of the archetypes he's heard of in the superhero community back home.]

An' dese Personas are, what—magical creatures?

[Though, thinking about it, a word like "Persona" doesn't seem to suggest that kind of thing ...]

They're manifestations of my subconscious. You could say they're parts of myself as magical beings.

[Since some of his Personas are humanoid. Minato have long since...don't question why he can summon certain Personas.]

Huh! Dat's a new one.

[David's mind wanders for a moment, contemplating how that kind of power would be classified by the FBSA. Then he smiles.]

Heh, yanno, dat kind of reminds me of dis movie where dis one guy could make more of himself. An' he was like "Da best part about bein' me, is dat dere's so many of me!"

[Minato blinks at that, before he gives a smile.]

Is that so? I wouldn't mind seeing that movie if it's possible.

[Does the media floor have it? Maybe after the craziness, Minato can go and look for it.]

Yeah. I forgot da name of it. Been a while, but I know it had somethin' to do with virtual worlds an' stuff. An' dere was a lot of kung-fu fightin', too.

[David's curiosity about the Personas isn't slakesd yet, though, so—]

Dis Persona stuff—how do ya go about usin' 'em? Can ya call up more'n one at a time? Use 'em like a small army?

Hm...it might take me a while to check through the movie selection based on that description.

I normally have one of them out at a time, since it uses a lot of energy and focus to use two of them. If my Personas are compatible, I can use two of them for a special move.

[He unsheathes his evoker, holding up the gun.]

And I summon them using this.

[David listens with interest as Minato explans how the Personas work. So ... he couldn't summon more than one at a time, except on certain occasions. Okay, so not like a Mastermind. Maybe more like a Controller?]

[Then, after Minato holds up the Evoker for David to see, he pulls his head back in surprise.]

What, you shoot dem outta da gun? 'Sgot like some kinda psychic resonator bullets or somethin'?

[... it sounds plausible to David, stop looking at him like that.]

[Minato shakes his head. This part is almost always shocking to other people.]

No, I don't. I point it at my head and pull the trigger to summon them.

[Yeah...]

[David's jaw hangs open almost to the point of letting that cigar fall out.]

You shoot yerself in da head?

[... but despite David's shock, in the back of his mind he reasons that the Evoker must not fire bullets of any kind, else Minato wouldn't be here to tell him this. Even blanks can be lethal up close and personal ...]

[Still. Of all the superpowers he's ever seen, this one takes the cake.]

That's right. If we ever fight in a battle together, I want you to know so it won't distract you. However, it doesn't have any bullets. Its only use is to give me stimulus to summon my Personas.

[To make it easier to summon his Persona, it triggers his life preservation instincts. There might be more to it, but it's the main gist of the mechanism.]

Stimulus ... right.

[Well, he's not going to judge. At least his gut feeling about the bullets was on the money.]

Guess if it did, you'd be in da same position as me right now ...

[He looks at David, raising a brow.]

The same position?

[David pats the Vanguard "Redding" rifle that's currently holstered to a thigh mount.]

Almost anything I can do in a fight needs ammo, an' da admins left all dat out when dey brought me here.

Ah... Do you know how to fight with another weapon?

[Minato do respect people's marksmanship. But it's another matter if they can't use their equipments for any reason.]

[David shakes his head.]

Outside of firearms? Not really. I did pick up dis sword from dem ugly goons dat look like dey had a tour of a combine harvester, but all's I know about swords is "swing as hard as you can an' hope you hit somethin' with it."

...You should try learning how to use it. There's some fighters where who can teach you how to use a sword.

Otherwise, what about unarmed combat?

Not good at dat either. 'Bout all I can do is throw a punch.

[David holds up one of his hands in front of him, in a way that might look like he was checking a watch.]

I do got tasers built into da wrist parts here, but dey're da dart-usin' kind. More ammo I don't have.

Which means learning how to fight can help you in the long term. You'd never know if you're completely unarmed and you only have your own body to rely on.

[His main motivation, really, behind keeping up his training in case his Personas got cut off.]

Yeah, got a point. I've been hearin' about some guys I'm gonna try an' seek out. Like dis one Irish guy, name's Deer-mud.

[Romeo had told David about Diarmuid ~~last month~~ a few weeks ago.]

Who else do ya know dat can teach me about swordfightin'?

There are some teachers... The one I remember is Diarmuid. He can teach swordsmanship and spear using.

You can send him a message over the network. He might have a mailbox, but I don't know his number.
