Setting: Hidden floor: one prompt for Waver specifically and another for talking amongst your fellow potential infiltrators.
Format: Any
Summary: Waver has information to share and the populace has tactical espionage action to plan; this is also meant as an overall information-sharing/strategic planning mingle so have at it!
Warnings: Nothing yet.

[A short and simple post was left on the network, the person that wrote it not having stayed long enough to answer any responses:]

I have an important document of sorts to share with anyone interested. For the foreseeable future, I can be found in the one location secure enough to not have anything overheard.

Of only slightly less urgent importance, I also need to speak with anyone else that was involved in recharging this place's energy.

[As soon as he'd punctuated the last sentence, Waver left and headed directly to the hidden floor. That was sure to be straightforward enough; he just hoped it wouldn't draw the wrong sort of attention.]

[Throughout the week, Waver sat off to the side copying Aria's report and map a couple of times over by hand--fortunately his miserable handwriting could be legible when applied to something other people needed to be able to read. He hardly seemed to leave the floor at all, because who needed sleep anyway?]

[(Apparently he did; on some very rare occasions at ungodly hours the lecturer might have been asleep in a chair.)]

[At nearly all times, a girl made of silver liquid dressed in red and gold stood by the teleporter like a quiet and polite sentry. It almost seemed as though she was there to enforce his ban on all things Sephiroth, although she didn't look strong enough to do anything...]

[Go meet with anyone else crazy enough to consider an adventure into the admin floors and plan amongst yourselves!]

[This is not a solo sneaking mission, but bringing cardboard boxes couldn't hurt.]

[Yukiko greets the mercury maid with a nod as she steps off the teleporter. She certainly feels a lot better with a guard on hand.]

Waver-san? I saw your post on the network. You wanted to talk to the ones who volunteered back in January?

I did, yes.

[He looked up from what he'd been working on, frowning as he looked to Yukiko.]

...You may want to sit down first.

[She'll take that advice and pull up a chair.]

All right. What's up?

Who wants to talk about taking care of yourself for once... :-P

[Diarmuid can't say that he is surprised when Waver suddenly seems to disappear. Their bond is as strong as always, though, so he knows his partner isn't in danger. In fact, he can guess exactly what is going on...

...and he is just a little annoyed that Waver hasn't come to him right away to ask for help. He knows that he has a lot going on with Grainne in the Tower and Rick having died, but still....partners don't let that kind of thing stop them from helping each other. One of these days Diarmuid will get that through Waver's head. It's the least he can do after all the time Waver spent knocking the same thing into his head.

When he enters the hidden floor, plate of food in one hand, he isn't surprised at the scene that meets his gaze. Diarmuid nods to the maid standing guard and then walks over to where Waver is sleeping on the desk. Well...at least one human need is being taken care of. Lets see about the other.

The plate is set on the desk next to Waver and then Diarmuid leans down to whisper in the magus' ear.]

You know she looks a lot like you. You never told me you had a daughter...

I have reason to believe all of us were very severely misled when it comes to the purpose of the energy Riki collected.

I'll put this bluntly: I don't know what Riki plans to do, but I don't believe we were recharging a fucking thing.

[slightlyoblivious]

Damn.

[She's not one to curse normally. It's a mild one, to be sure, but the fact that she's cursing at all - and drawing out the curse a bit, at that - is enough to show exactly how shocked she is.]

So we can't trust a word that comes out of his mouth about anything going forward. That's - damn. I thought he was actually half-decent.

What--?

[Startled, his pen jerked across the paper before Waver was able to focus properly and comprehend what was being said. Frowning, he discarded the copy he had been working on and started another.]

What are you talking about?

[stitchedupbodyguard]

[The maid is given a curious look and little more as Veronica steps off the teleporter. An odd sort of guard. Could they not get anyone else to do it?]

Umm... Waver, right? I volunteered back in January

[fionnuisce]

I'm afraid not, at least not at face value.

[Waver shook his head.]

I hesitate to leap to the assumption that he's doing something terrible, but even so...we can't overlook that he screwed with us to accomplish whatever he's out to do.

[fionnuisce]

Right, yes. Let me not waste time; I feel as though we should all be aware our attempts at being helpful may not have been what we hoped.

...They haven't?

[Well that sucks.]

Why?

[slightlyoblivious]

[Yukiko nods, frowning.]

...it's a sign I've been here too long when I immediately jump to the worst possible conclusion without even considering other options. We were all in that machine for something, and Riki's gotten himself caught in a lie. I can't help but think we're getting played, and whatever we're getting played for, it's not good.

[fionnuisce]

Aria's led me to believe the tower was in no more danger of power failure than it already had been. The most damning evidence to that would be the fact that no one thought to check the countdown--according to her, it didn't fluctuate whatsoever.

And it's a sign of the same for me when I don't jump to the worst possibility. I want to immediately assume he's up to nothing good, yet at the same time I realize he could have been hiding whatever plan he has from Ruana as much as from us.

It's a difficult call to make either way. The only thing it's safe to assume is that he's up to something.

[While Xion was in the hidden floor on the 16th, it isn't until the 17th that she gets wind of Waver wanting to meet people to discuss things. To that end, she appears midafternoonish, hesitant but determined]

Hey. [She pauses] You said wanted to talk to people about something? And... about what happened in January?

[As brief as the message was, and the current location of the information-passing makes her think this is rather serious, and not in a good way.]

[fionnuisce]

For nothing? I think quite the opposite. He surely took it for something, but the question is what.

[fionnuisce]

I did, yes. [He looked up from what he was working on, gesturing vaguely to a chair to suggest Xion should sit down.]

[Xion notices the gesture and takes a seat, folding her hands in front of her and tilting her head to the side a little, a silent gesture to continue. She's trying to hide how anxious the gesture makes her feel, though she's gripping her hands tightly enough that the knuckles are beginning to whiten.

Either there was a lot of information, or she was right about it being serious in a bad way. Or both.]

[Diarmuid grins and motions toward the maid.]

Don't tell me you never noticed...

[He then looks down at what Waver is working on so hard and blinks in surprise.]

Is that...the lower levels?

Here's the issue. [Waver made a conscious effort to be a little less blatant about that matter; damn his faint soft spot for kids.]

Evidence suggests that Riki was not entirely honest with us about the purpose of our borrowed energy. And following that, we presently have no way to tell what exactly he intends to use it for.

I've no idea what you mean.

[Shrugging it off, he went back to copying over Aria's map.]

Yes, I only just received it from Aria. It's a bit simplistic for my taste, but I'm not about to complain.
