Sleepover before the storm

Setting: Floor 101
Format: Whatever floats your boat
Summary: It's the night before the infiltration. People are plotting, discussing, and Xion has brought a Dream Eater so those who want to try to get a good night's sleep have a marginally higher chance of doing so. So in short it's a Tower-flavored sleepover. Bring your own pillows.
Warnings: Nothing in the top level. Will try to edit if anything changes but if something comes up in one of your threads make sure to add a warning in the subject line

[Standard mingle post procedure. Make your top levels. Tag around. Have fun. Or not, this is Animus after all.

Notes will have been passed out and quiet discussion gone around by word of mouth, just saying that several people were spending the night in the hidden floor. Anybody who spoke to Xion would have been told that she's trying to figure out a way everybody can get a good night's sleep. You'll need to supply your own blankets and pillows but... hey, at least if you have trouble sleeping, you'll have company?

Note that any characters who sleep on the Hidden Floor, if they normally suffer from nightmares will likely have notably lessened or absent nightmares (up to your discretion) owing to the Dream Eater that Xion has brought with.]

...What?

[Lancer, who has been awake all this time, turns to look at Enoch.]

You hear something?

[He half doubts it, since he hasn't even heard anything out of place yet.]

*He glances over at Lancer as he speaks, and after a moment of exhausted, nervous confusion, he shakes his head.*

No... I can't sleep.

[puppy_lancer]

Oh? How come? Too stressed about the infiltration tomorrow?

[warriorscribe]

*He nods.* There's so much at stake, and so little time to correct it if we do something wrong...

[puppy_lancer]

This isn't the first time we've done this. If anything, we've learned for our bigger mistakes. So don't worry.

[He gives Enoch a comforting smile.]

It's the first time we've done anything quite like this. Finding things, certainly, but sabotage? Such things have been attempted but have never been successful.

*He recalls the ill-fated attack on the research pods, all those months ago, nearly two entire years now, when he first arrived. Even the rescue mission into the labyrinth hadn't exactly ended as planned.*

...What happened back then? How'd you guys fail?

[warriorscribe]

We were intercepted before we could do anything.

[puppy_lancer]

Ah. That sounds pretty bad then. Were you intercepted by monsters? Or some of Ruana's visions?

[warriorscribe]

Neither. An administrator. We never had a chance.

[puppy_lancer]

Which administrator? Jason? Riki?

[warriorscribe]

Dax. We were trying to interfere in Ruana's game, but he appeared to warn us away. It was the first time I met him... He wouldn't kill us, either, not until Ruana ordered him to, and even then, he let anyone who ran survive.

*He sighs, sitting up and looking up at the ceiling.*

...I'm certain they couldn't have been expecting us. There was no one to watch the cameras. So they were ready for intrusion. All we have succeeded at, it's been by avoiding being near them at all. And now we're to take back a room we know one has been in all month...

[puppy_lancer]

[He frowns and nods. If even Dax, the one who had bonded with the populace the most, could kill them on Ruana's orders, then the infiltration would really be more dangerous than before.]

And Riki sounds like the type to use lots of cameras. Even around his terminals.

Exactly. We must go forward anyway, but...I don't know how good our chances are.

*Incurable optimist he may be, but he still had nerves like any normal human being and he would be stupid not to recognize the potentially insurmountable risks here.*

[puppy_lancer]

[Lancer too is human. Or, at least, his mind is.]

Me neither. Still, we need to take that chance. Not like there's anything else we can do.

[warriorscribe]

Yes. Having no other choice won't make it any less worrying. *Which is what he's been trying to say all along. This is such a crucial infiltration...*

[puppy_lancer]

[If it's anything, it's a little more worrying.]

Yeah...but we're heroes. Guys like us are what makes the impossible possible.

[warriorscribe]

So they say.
