Sleepover before the storm

Setting: Floor 101
Format: Whatever floats your boat
Summary: It's the night before the infiltration. People are plotting, discussing, and Xion has brought a Dream Eater so those who want to try to get a good night's sleep have a marginally higher chance of doing so. So in short it's a Tower-flavored sleepover. Bring your own pillows.
Warnings: Nothing in the top level. Will try to edit if anything changes but if something comes up in one of your threads make sure to add a warning in the subject line

[Standard mingle post procedure. Make your top levels. Tag around. Have fun. Or not, this is Animus after all.

Notes will have been passed out and quiet discussion gone around by word of mouth, just saying that several people were spending the night in the hidden floor. Anybody who spoke to Xion would have been told that she's trying to figure out a way everybody can get a good night's sleep. You'll need to supply your own blankets and pillows but... hey, at least if you have trouble sleeping, you'll have company?

Note that any characters who sleep on the Hidden Floor, if they normally suffer from nightmares will likely have notably lessened or absent nightmares (up to your discretion) owing to the Dream Eater that Xion has brought with.]

Nerves do tend to run high before a battle. It's not much, but I have little else to offer.

I'll get that tea.

[Lucky for her she had a pot of that tea ready and sitting on a table across the room, so all she has to do is grab a cup for him.

When she comes back, she seems a little more sure of herself.]

Here. It will soothe but it will not put you to sleep like my cup will.

[He nods.]

[When she gets the tea, he takes it and downs it in one gulp.]

It's great tea. And if it works the way you say it does, then it's just the way I like it. Not really in the mood to sleep right now, you see.

[Grainne tilts her head and looks slightly amused.]

Then why are you up here keeping everyone awake?

Not everyone. I'm just keeping watch. The only ones who get woken up are the ones who can't sleep in the first place.

It's hard enough to sleep for some of them... I don't blame them for the sleep to be troubled with so much riding on tomorrow.

I wish I was of more use...

[He gives her a comforting smile.]

Don't worry about it. If you come down there with the rest of us tomorrow, I'm sure you can do a lot.

I'm not going down... I'm not an assassin... and my skills at modern things aren't very good. The fewer that goes, the better it is for everyone.

[She shakes her head briefly.]

I don't even know if I can heal with magic. It's all right though. I will stay up here and prepare with the others for your return. I can still use herbs, at least.

...Great! Then you can watch out for my brother and Waver. And everyone else staying up here.

You could out-stubborn them. And Waver would listen better to you because he can't call you an idiot.

[Pausing, she frowns.]

[He tries hard to hold back a snicker at that last comment.]

If you decide to come, you wouldn't be an unwelcome addition.

[She stares at him for a moment, and then:]

Are you trying to woo me again? I am having a rather hard time telling...

N-no! Of course not. I promised Asagi I wouldn't...

Hmm... that's a relief.

[And rather smart of the Lady, too, Grainne thinks.]

No, I had better stay here and torment those two a little...

Then I'll rely on you to keep those two safe. Asagi too, if she isn't coming down with me. And make sure Waver doesn't tire himself or anything. He's still refusing to sleep properly last I checked.

[Grainne is silent for a moment.]

I'll do my best.

[His expression becomes a serious one.]

Yeah. My brother and Asagi are my most important people here. And Waver...well, my brother sort of brought him along for the ride.

[athousandcurses]

[Nodding, Grainne takes a moment to brush some hair out of her face where it had fallen.]

I hope I did not cause you too much trouble with your Lady.

[puppy_lancer]

Nah, she understood after I explained it to her.

[And after he promised to never ever do it again.]

Besides, we're family now. I don't think she'll hold much of a grudge.

[Confusion spreads over Grainne's expression.]

Did you marry her?

Not yet. But...I'm together with her now. It's official.

[A small smile breaks out. She is happy to hear that, though she does not envy what would happen if Emer ever came to reside in the Tower...]
