At a less critical moment, it might have undone the floodgates, but with the end of this mess looming before them, it bolsters him instead, eases the worries he's hiding from everyone else. He isn't in the right state of mind to think about it too much, to contemplate what it makes him feel. Lucifel has been a source of strength for him as long as he can remember, and even with a different Lucifel in a different world, with a different relationship, this still holds true.*
