Is he okay? DJ, I mean.
[The AI they rescued. She knows with the power out he's probably stuck where he is on Aria's storage device but so long as he was okay, after all that... That had to be something, at least?]

Would it be all right if I took a look at the machine to figure out what else it could do? Maybe what Riki was doing with it? I... might need a translator.

FREE HUGS...
But.
She would be a liability. Even with her leg treated to the best of Gaia's ability she's not sure how much good she'd actually be in a fight where she needs to move quickly. And she doesn't want anybody to put themselves at risk covering her. Not this fight.
She hates to stay behind.
But she doesn't see much other option.
So many people are going, so many people she knows. And as dangerous as this fight is, so many could not be coming back. She doesn't even want to think about that possibility but it's real, real as the light was, as her soul dying nearly had been.
It's hard, in the near-total darkness, but Xion pokes around the crowd, particularly the crowd around Zo, looking for faces she knows. For people she knows. And when she finds them, she hugs them. No words, except maybe their name or a tap on the shoulder to give them warning, just the silent plea to be safe and the affirmation that she loves them, so much.]

Midgar Weapon Handouts
He's wearing a pensive expression, laying out weapons one by one. A few swords, a few guns, some grenades, among others, and other items that might be familiar to some, and strangely bizarre to others; potions, elixirs, ethers, things that looked like broken teeth...
It looks like those things might be up for the taking, though a few of them looks like they need an explanation to use.
Oh yeah. Everything is stamped with the Shinra logo somewhere.]

[... He reaches into his film pocket and takes out a Red Condor action figure, holding it tightly. ... It's okay to like childish things as long as you don't act childish all the time. He's okay with it now. He nods in determination, puts it back in his pocket, and goes to look for other people. There's some people he needs to say 'I'll come back' to, just so he knows it'll come true.]

Even if he doesn't do it for anyone here, for Zo or Aria, he'll do it for himself. What happens next, well he's just going to have to see what comes - he would be dead either way in a worst case scenario.
And so he lingers towards the outskirts of the group congregating around Zo in preparation. He makes no effort to meet the gaze with anyone, least of all that admin which had once torn his soul apart. However should anyone look in his direction, he will hold theirs as if challenging them to say something.]

She is no longer a spirit. This is not the Glamour at work either with how the majority of her companions are lights and images encased in fluid and film and wires. No, her hand, from what she can see in the lighting provided by the souls of those here, is solid, real, and made of flesh and blood and bone.
She pulls off her glove, knows the pressure means they do not have much time, but she needs to see, needs to be sure. Arturia had resigned herself to either being returned to a wireframe or perhaps being nothing more than a spirit when they returned to this world and yet....
Yet here she is. Flesh and blood. She pinches her wrist and there is pain. Sweet, blessed pain that means this is real. This is true.
This is a miracle.

She has held no delusions that restoring the worlds would require taking out Ruana. That much has been obvious since Dax's death. What she does not expect is the decision Aria and Zo put forward: fight Ruana, or work to save the worlds. There is no way to do both.
So she stands in the dark, quiet, conflicted, for perhaps a few moments longer than what might be expected of her. Everything she has done has ultimately always been done with that end goal of seeing Hyrule restored to its former glory in mind. Part of her wants to be there, feels it's her duty as Hyrule's sovereign to be there, but... She thinks of those they were unable to retrieve from their homeworlds, the ones who have been wandering for far longer than a few hours. She thinks of Minami, Majora, Ruler... Link. She thinks of Dax's warning, that Ruana will use the energy of their souls to power this accursed place once more if they fail to stop her now.
That cannot be allowed to happen.
Her decision made, she approaches her friends, allies, loved ones in the brief time they have before the battle begins, resolve burning brightly in the eyes of her spirit within her indigo wireframe.]
I will fight. It is time this ends.

But this wasn't a god or godly construct or the spirit of a mythological hero they were planning to fight. This was a psychotic girl with too much power. It would be like fighting Ishtar, if he had ever done so physically; completely unappealing, because he would rather be insulting her and cursing her for what she had put him through before completely overwhelming her with a single strike.
Gilgamesh opens four gates above and at his shoulders, pulling one weapon after another from his treasury. With the glamour seemingly permanently off, this was undoubtedly his real power being manifested. And yet, with just a test swing, he knows that there are still restrictions.
He frowns with distaste as Durandal sparkles and leaves his hand. If nothing else, he would like to see Ruana dead to see if his full powers would finally be restored.
He could not drink swords, after all.]

His gaze drifts to Waver who is standing not far away and for a moment, he closes his eyes. This is where the conflict lies. If he goes, Waver will go too. They are partners, and they are doing everything together now. Living, dying. Fighting or not...
It's not that he doesn't think his partner can fight. Diarmuid knows better than that and there are few others he would want fighting at his side. No, it's, despite how good of a fighter Waver is, he is a better thinker and right now they need people like him down here trying to figure out how to fix the worlds and get them all back to home with the limited resources they have.
He fiddles with the weapons he picked up on Midgar--two real swords and a real spear to compliment Gae Dearg who he can finally summon again.
In the end, the choice really isn't that hard. Diarmuid will stay behind and guard those who are also staying behind. It's a role he has taken often in the Tower and if the fight ends up coming to them he will be ready to do all he can to protect those in the Machine Room.
Even if it might be hopeless, since it will mean that Ruana has defeated Zo and those who went up to fight her...
Decision made, that leaves just one more thing to do: finding those who are going and saying goodbye to them...just in case.]

His eyes seem focused somewhere beyond the walls, though where one might expect to see weariness or pain in such a long gaze, instead it's determination, as if he's staring down their opponent through however many steel walls stand between them. In reality, he's thinking. Looking forward, at the worlds they'll return to. Knowing his life is a giant mystery after this because he'll be thrown from Meridian the moment he returns. Looking back, at everything they've been through. At his life before the tower. At his life on Earth, as much as he can recall. Funny, how some things seem to repeat themselves...
His hand flexes on the grip of his weapon as he registers someone's presence.* I'm going to fight, *he tells them, unprompted. He doesn't know if anyone would try to dissuade him, but he won't let it happen. Fighting is the one thing he seems to be good for, especially where soul-stealing towers are involved.*

There are no fail-safes to make here and now.
There is only success or failure, and if they fail here there won't be a future for any of them, probably.
There are no longer any retries left.
After the last few years of knowing death to be a far less permanent fate than it's supposed to be, Riku is almost glad about the brush with the light just after their fight with Riki; it's served as a very effective reminder. He's thought he'd die then, had been so certain of it, had felt like his heart and soul would fracture beyond recovery... but he's not dead yet.
Giving up is for the dead. As long, as we aren't dead there is hope. That are the things he's told Asch and Xion, and he's meant it then just as much as he feels the certainty of those truths in the core of his heart right now.
This is why he'd rather not say any goodbyes at all. Only come-back-safes, maybe.
He pats through his coat pockets one last time before he means to turn and look for the people he's befriended here, blinking when his hand brush against something that isn't a potion or elixir. A moment later he finds Oblivion's keychain lying in his hand, gleaming dull black. It's the very first thing he's ever requested here, and the moment he had been received it, he had given it to Sora.
He had found it at his bedside the day Sora had disappeared again. He had held onto it since, but never used it himself.
Using it now though... It would be fitting, he thinks. This is the keychain that represents their bond after all, the token of their friendship. The token of something that will last beyond the destruction of worlds and loss of hearts.
A beacon of light in eternal darkness.
My friends are my power, Sora told him a lifetime ago, and Riku can only hope that right now he will be able to borrow some of that strength. It's not the some for him as it is for Sora, he knows, he's acknowledged long ago. His friends aren't his power, not like they are Sora's. Sora is unique in that.
He's made an oath though, half a year ago, when he had first summoned the true Way To The Dawn into being in front of Master Terra's grave, words spoken with an uncertainty that he can no longer effort to have now, and nothing feels more right than to repeat it with his current resolve as he allows the Keychain to rise of his hand and glimmer away into the space of his heart.]
To save what can be saved. To guard what can be guarded.
[He stretches his arm and turns his palm downwards as Oblivion bursts into being, dark, deadly and beautiful as it's ever been.]
To protect the things that matter - my friends, my home, everyone and everything.
[This is what he fights for. This is what he will die for, if it comes to that.
This is why he wields the Keyblade.
Riku takes a moment consider the weight of Oblivion in his hand, the length and balance of his current weapon. It's not too different from Way To The Dawn.
A small, satisfied sigh escapes him as he dismisses it and relaxes again, for a fraction. He is ready for the fight to come, but there are still some come-back-safes left to say.]

Re: Pre-Fight/Discussion Mingle
He is fourteen, by his reckoning an adult and this is an adult decision. He knows he is not as strong as everyone else but he has been told before that his power is the friends he makes. What kind of person would he be if he didn't fight to protect those friends who had protected him so many times.
This was for them all, Ken, Ienzo, Yotsuba, all the children he and Ken had tried to help. All the adults who had been kind to him and fought for him and taught him. For Molly the first friend he met in this place, gone so long but never forgotten.
For Alfredo his hope, his best hero. For his little brothers who would hopefully get to grow up if the worlds were restored. Grow up free and happy.
For them all.
Forever late but still alive
The archangel would be pacing around and glance at what the others are doing for a moment before he steps away again.
Waiting had never been so bad and usually he can be patient, yet it was different this time. But he knew that they had to prepare themselves the best they could.]
Joins you in lateness.
no subject
I know that everyone's concerned about those that left to fight, but we have to trust them and concentrate on what we have to do. We have no idea how much time we have, so let's get to the point as quickly as possible.
[He took on an authoritative voice, summarizing the broader subject as quickly as he could:]
Primarily, we need to know where everyone's going after this and, more importantly, how to be sure they find more than a fucking wasteland when we get there. I know that the power's out and this probably seems fucking pointless to ask, but I want everyone that knows about it to tell me as much as you can about the machine some of you went downstairs and dealt with Riki for.
[There was no other option for restoring their worlds as far as Waver knew. Even with next to no power left, they had to try for it.]
no subject
and other things, she steps forward.]It can be used for a lot of different things. I don't think even the admins knew all the things it could be used for. I asked DJ, when we first found him, and he didn't know.
[Which consequently meant Dax didn't know]
We know that Zo can use it to focus his powers. It was also used to drain the energy from us in January. And Riki said he was trying to use it to link all of our worlds, when we stopped him. He was using our energy to do it though.
[She hesitates.]
That energy might still be there, since we stopped him. I'm not sure. DJ said it would be really dangerous to full activate the machine, either way, since we don't know what all it can do.

Another question we should think about is... what about us? A lot of us want different things, not just for the worlds to be restored.
I know there are some people who want to stay here... and some who want to go to other worlds. [She smiles a little wistfully] Maybe even people who want to be able to keep going to other worlds after everything's fixed.
We need to make sure people have a choice, I think.
[Especially since choice was something Ruana had deprived them of for so long]
no subject
And setting even that aside for only a minute...I think everyone here should decide where to go and who to go with if they haven't already. It's likely we won't have the opportunity to change our minds on the subject, less so if we can't keep portals between worlds opened.
That said, we should think about how to prevent getting locked off to one world, and make sure it's possible everyone goes where they bloody well please in the first place.
