PARTY TIME!

Characters: Marty and EVERYONE ELSE. Start your own threads, mingle, make CR!
Setting: Floor 38, the big lounge floor just under the dorms, BEST STORM VIEW
Format: Your choice
Summary: STORM WATCHING PARTY! So the power is out and there's tons of thunderstorms. But don't let that get you down, WATCH THE THUNDERSTORMS! Also pancakes and coffee.
Warnings: STORM WATCHING ! Lots of thunder

Marty had enough of the darkness in the tower and the creeping monsters, so when he looked at the mass of pancakes the automatic pancake maker had made, he loaded them up along with the coffee maker, coffee, the syrup, and toted them all the way up to Floor 38.

There was no way he was going to let those massive stacks of pancakes go to waste, and this was the closest floor to the dorms that actually had some place to hang out, so he set the pancakes up as a sort of continental breakfast, and sat watching the storm.

What he hadn't expected was the people to start trickling in.

Shion had been outside on one of the floating islands for the best part of an hour until he was too cold and had to go back inside. His hair was plastered to his head and his clothes were sodden but he hadn't wanted to leave, storm were amazing, they made him feel alive. Which was what he needed after everything that had happened.

He was making his way up to the dorms when he got distracted on the lounge, the windows here made it so that you could still see the storm, from inside. He went over to one and pressed his face up against it watching the lightning.

Normally she wouldn't have cared, she would have brushed it off and stayed low but this place was different and as much as she tried to stay confident she still wasn't used to the tower.

Wriggle had been hanging around the lake when the first clap of thunder sounded. Startled and afraid she rushes right back up the stairs, heading towards the dormitories. At least there she wouldn't risk getting struck by lightning. Determined to escape she ran right up the fragmenting staircase, ignoring the sudden darkness that came over her and the things that would spook her even more.

When she finally broke through to the lounge room she had to stop.

What was that smell? Something sweet and sugary... Almost instantly she'd forgotten that she was afraid of being struck and wandered in to find the source of the scent.

Shion smiled at the boy who spoke to him, "It's... incredible..." He had always loved storms, ever since he was a small child. In fact it was in a storm that he had first met Nezumi...

Remembering that meeting was painful, not like it would have been a week or two ago but still. He searched for something to say, "I'm Shion, what's your name?"

Guess what also didn't work with the power out?

That's right. The elevators. Also, a great many monsters on the floors below seemed to have taken it into their heads that "no functioning lights" meant "night time". It had been something of a mad flight up this far, and Tara sits down heavily at the top of the lounge floor staircase, breathing heavily.

...in doing so, she smells something. Something oh so familiar that makes her mouth water and her heart hurt with memories of Sunday morning breakfast. Oh good sweet mother goddess, can it be?

"...p-pancakes?"

It was the promise of coffee - that and a respite from the abysmal boredom - that prompted Sephiroth to head to the thirty-eighth floor, nodding a greeting at Marty and gratefully accepting the offer of caffeine.

Mug in hand, sheathed sword within easy reach, Sephiroth then wandered over to one of the far walls, gazing out of the glass structure as the storms raged around the Tower itself. Lightning reflected in feline green eyes but Sephiroth simply stood silent and sipped his coffee, thoughts lost in the turmoil outside.

Tara bites back her initial reaction of preferring tea - there are pancakes, and she knows better than to look a gift horse in the mouth. No, instead, she works her way back up to her feet and moves as quickly as she can manage in her tired state towards the table. A respectable helping of pancakes wound up on a plate, a respectable amount of syrup was drizzled over them, and Tara even wound up pouring herself some coffee. It couldn't be any worse than the swill in the cafeteria.

Sighing in utter contentment, she took a seat on the floor next to Marty. The first bite of the pancakes were fluffy, breaded, syrupy heaven.

"Thanks a lot," she said around a mouthful.

Gandalf had come to the 38th floor, not so much for the party but more for observing that thunderstorm. It was quite an interesting phenomenon and they had a spot of choice to watch it and observe it. He didn't know if this was related to what was about to happen or something else- Time for hypothesis and conclusion would be latter.

Admittedly, the Coffee and Pancakes were very much welcome as well, he'd actually taken a cup of coffee and eat a pancake. certainly better than what they were fed with usual. That and he was enjoying the sight of people having fun and being downright happy for once, even if he wasn't to take part in the party. It might not last, so they better enjoyed those moments.

So here you have Gandalf, watching at the thunderstorm, a cup of coffee next to him and... Smoking weed with his pipe. That's absolutely not what you are thinking it is. If need is he got some spare weed and a second pipe.

Seeing Sephiroth, though knowing he was still the sane, pre-Nibelheim man he had known before, it was definitely surreal. The one he had seen several months ago back home had been the black caped man, the one they had all been chasing across the Planet.

"It's been a while." There was Reno, having coffee of his own in hand, and looking more clear eyed and less Veld-like. This was the other Reno, the one he hadn't met yet; orange collar, his hair in the usual spiky mess but not pulled into his usual tail, nor the goggles or turk suit and no tan. Just a normal looking Reno in casual clothes.

Briefly, he wondered if he should have bothered the General, quiet as he was and at peace, especially with the Masamune at his side. A vivid memory jabbed at him, the blood stains that had been confirmed to be Tseng's blood surrounding what had been the entrance to the Temple of the Ancients.

Follow your own advice. Still, knowing what Sephiroth was capable of given the right circumstances had Reno's hair on end.

Ah, the other Turk. Sephiroth supposed he'd never get used to having two of them gallivanting about; Planet knew one was hard enough not to trip over.

The recollection brought a soft chuckle but he nodded amiably enough, replying quietly, "For some, perhaps." A pause and a sip of coffee. "This time-warping phenomenon takes a bit adjusting to."

Not again. That's the third time ever since the Fellowship recruitment that someone gets weirded out next to him as if they knew him already. And he's not appreciating the boy bending over to see his face.

"Yes, this would be me young Master." he said and looked at Marty. He smiled lightly.

"I congratulate you for your efforts on this floor. But have we met before?"

Pretty sure than no, and he's probably gonna get the same excuse than he did last time, but you never know.

[personal profile] moontothetide 2012-05-30 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Tara smiles a smile that's equal parts incredulity and hope. "Pancake machine? There's, th-there's a pancake machine? A-And it's something you have, not something..." For lack of anything else to point at, Tara, gestures out the window, meaning to encompass the tower as a whole. "Th-They have?"

She joins Marty in waiting for a new pot, having already gulped half of hers' to keep the syrup from sticking to the roof of her mouth.

"It was, um, kind of rough getting up this far. It'd be great not to have to go all the way back down to the cafeteria."

'Ever again' is unspoken but implied. Tara is not a fan of the food, even if she can tolerate it better than most because it reminds her of nothing so much as college dorm food.

"It's been five years for me. I can't remember the last time you'd have seen me, other than Rusty, so I'm just gonna base it on my view." Reno shrugged. Most times that was the easiest course of action, and his head had already been jogged with the arrival of Cloud.

"Sorry I couldn't make it to the little reunion-" he chose that word on purpose, wondering if it would make Sephiroth react, "a side effect of that Labyrinth scheme was disturbing nightmares." That was his way of saying he had been exhausted.

It's the novelty of seeing someone smoking a pipe that gets Tara's attention as much as anything. At first, when she sees someone smoking, she rises to her feet, torn between chastising him for being so inconsiderate and the knowledge that a lot of them really don't have anywhere else to go.

But then she gets a whiff of what he's actually smoking, and...well, being a recent college student, Tara knows what marijuana smells like, and that isn't it.

"At least there's still...weather," Tara ventures timidly, drawing a bit nearer and noting his interest in the storm. "S-So there...there has to be s-something out there."

Sephiroth shrugged a shoulder. "As you like." He'd earlier resolved to just handle whatever came his way and not to try and untangle the myriad of threads that connected them. After all, this entire place made no sense, but survival was high on the priority list.

Unaware of Reno's little "field test", Sephiroth didn't bat an eyelash; merely inclined his head. "No need to worry, everyone more or less agreed to concentrate on surviving here, rather than waste time and effort hashing over past events, be they what they might be."

[personal profile] moontothetide 2012-05-30 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
And it's a sign of how aware Tara has become of the danger all around them that her reaction to this revelation is reasonably subdued. She seems to wilt slightly at the mention of a gun, folding in on herself almost protectively. And she looks away from Marty, but for darting a gaze up at him that might best be described as "suspicious", sizing him up all over again.

"...i-is he okay?"

It was still hard to relax around him. There was still that slight set of his jaw betraying his tension.

"Glad the meeting went that well. I just wish you guys were the thing I'd have to worry about, but you aren't. It's Hojo and Fuhito being here." He did remember that Fuhito had kidnapped the professor at one point, and who knows why he did it. That was a loose end Reno never gotten tied up like he wanted. "I recently encountered them, and it didn't leave me with a good feeling."

Why was he even telling Sephiroth this? Was it because of memories, of the man that had used to exist (as far as Reno was concerned)? Maybe he was just trying to give him a second chance. Everyone deserved that much, didn't they? The Turks had one, after all.

"...I think Hojo has... samples."
