Fellowship of Animus | First Council of Sages

Characters: THE FELLOWSHIP OF ANIMUS aka pretty much everyone
Setting: Floor 38, early afternoon - forward-dated to July 29
Format: Party style - pick your poison
Summary: After repeated delays, Zelda and Gandalf have finally called the populace of the Tower to discuss productive means of dealing with their situation.
Warnings: None yet, will edit should something come up

It's taken far too long to get to this point.

Come Sunday, the various couches and armchairs of the uppermost lounge have been arranged in vaguely semi-circle-like patterns, with chairs from other floors scattered amongst them to increase seating even more. The semi-circles face inwards towards a central point to facilitate discussion among a large group of people. Though this is by no means a party, small slices of Lembas bread are available on tables around the perimeter - though there is no shortage of food, the hungry tend to be less cooperative, all the same.

Outside, the sun shines brightly without a cloud to obstruct it, but the atmosphere inside is much less carefree. Considering the purpose of gathering here this day, it's to be expected. Should this council succeed, it may very well change life in the Tower as everyone knows it. If not, well... one should certainly hope individual efforts begin to bear more fruit than they have in the past.

Gathering information on the tower...

Surprisingly, Xehanort stands up, giving a slightly formal bow to those assembled.

"Finally, a gathering with more than an ounce of sense. The need to focus on escape clouds the judgment of everyone and lends them to doing foolish things. Is there not a great mystery here, in front of us?" His arms sweep up, gesturing grandly as he continues. "There are better things to do than pine after worlds lost in whatever fashion has befallen them. It is imperative to understand this place we have found ourselves in. Perhaps a small group focused on the study of the whys and hows of this place, a network of those so researching and learning so that we can truly know what it is we are dealing with and share information quickly and efficiently. A group who can archive and compile what information is learned so that it is readily accessible."

With that said, he bows once more and sits down, yellow eyes scanning the room carefully.

...He's not sure what to think of Xehanort now. Not after what his double told him, but still. He does have a point. As Xehanort speaks, Riku keeps his eyes locked on the old man, listening intently. By the time he finishes, Riku closes his eyes and nods.

"Information should definitely be a priority. Not just for us, but for any newcomers. Fact is, people show up here on a weekly basis. If we can put our heads together and get our facts straight, it could really help us out in the future. Especially since there's a lot left to uncover, not just about the world but the ones running the show.

Heck, it might be worth asking everyone who's been caught up in experiments to share their experiences. I've only been dragged into the labyrinth, so I'm not sure how it compares to the rest. By getting a more comprehensive list, it'll give us a clearer idea of what to expect."

Once he gets that of his chest, he'll lean back and allow others to respond. After all, it was kind of a mouthful.

"I think anything you can explain would help, but that's just me." He shrugs, placing a hand against his neck. "What we could do is make some kind of formal guide. Maybe have a few people jot down information and combine it so there's an easy reference."

He pauses, mulling it over for a second. The trouble would be getting that information out to the residents as a whole. A network post is fairly easy to access but would get buried in time. A written guide would require work to assemble, and there'd probably be limited numbers. No matter how they approach it, it'll be tough.

"It might help to throw up some kind of survey or census over the network... Maybe couple that with asking around. After all, not everyone's gonna make it to this meeting."

"Me and this other guy, Alf-something something, are making a monster list too," spoke Yusuke, acting casual. "Too many damn monsters and crap around this place, and hell, some of them can't even be killed. Figured that should also get some more attention too for newbies."

And thus Xion finds herself, much like Riku, in the uncomfortable position of agreeing with Xehanort. Going home itself is a touchy subject for her, given her fate (though if Sora would need her to wake up, she'd go back). Though she can at least agree with the desire to not be here.

She hasn't said much since she'd made her speech, but she looks up.

"I... back home, I would sometimes do investigations of other worlds. Gather information. I... can do that here. If it'd help." Her voice is quiet, but steadier than it was earlier.

Taro stands, in order to be seen - he's in his human disguise right now, but he's still relatively short.

"And how do you want to start looking for this information? It's not like they have file cabinets full of folders. And it's not like they have lackeys we can get information out of - unless you want to try to get some info out of the weird workers we see running around. They don't seem like they know much - there's no one here who can read minds, is there? That's the only way I can see getting info from them."

"The people who have run the tower have talked to us a few times, one on one. One place we can start is by talking to people who have had conversations with them and getting a written record of those conversations. Perhaps we can elect a pair of representatives here that can begin with that? And a third to keep a backup record, just in case.

One more thing - if there are people who are good with computers, we might ask them to see about getting around any security on the network. There might be a way in we don't know about."

April had been quietly listening, but when she heard this, she knew she had to actually speak up. With her powers, she could find ways around networks security. Now she just had to... speak up. Okay, she can do this.

"U-um..." That comes out as a squeak, and she clears her throat as she blushes faintly. Time to try again. "I-I'm pretty good with computers, and I'm able to, um, control electronics. S-so I could use my power to try to f-find different ways to break into the network..."

She frowns as she trails off, fidgeting at her spot against the wall as she glances down at the floor.

"Oh, wow!" Feferi turned, an excited look on her face. "That's amazing! Would you really? That would be so fantastic! It would help all of us out so much."

Then she stopped and trailed off. "Oh cod, I'm so sorry, it's so rude of me to ask so much of you without so much as an introduction. I'm Feferi."

April blinks and fidgets shyly, but she manages to give Feferi a faint smile. "Um, I'm April. It's nice to meet you, Feferi. And I would be happy to help. It might take me a while, but I'll do my best to crack the networks security and try to gather info."

If one simply looks to such conventional methods, then of course one will fail to find anything.

Look back through the archives on the network. There's fascinating tidbits there amidst the inanities. Observe. Analyze. Experiment. Share experiences. The glimmer of truth hides beneath the murky opaque surface.

[To be honest, he doesn't know if speaking now would be a good idea or not. Part of him wishes to remain silent, since that bad feeling has only grown. However... There is truth in the elder's words that, as a seeker of truth, he cannot ignore.]

...I know of a few who have gathered some information on the tower's basics. They've begun the foundations for what you're speaking of, already. [Where there is mystery and intrigue posed, so too will there be those who seek answers... and whether or not the two are in neutral standing with one another, there is something they can agree on despite their differing worlds.] Panic caused by the notes that are left for the newcomers definitely could use some sort of document.

[What he doesn't say is obvious in his tone, and his eyes: Sorry for losing my temper; I had just lost someone important.

Stop being so agreeable, dammit. You're confusing the hell out of his morality code.]

"And how will such a team be chosen?"

Lucifer tilts her head quizzically, resting a palm against the side of her head.

"What qualifications do you consider necessary in order to start a catalog of the information that has been gained here?

And more importantly. What assurance will all others have that this group will not hide information away. Will keep vital information that could be used to facilitate our escape from us, and would hide this information for the sole sake of furthering their research if they aren't satisfied with what they have yet? Aren't satisfied because all the mysteries haven't been solved yet?"

Her voice is pleasant, but there's a sharper edge there. Lucifer has always been a creature that has distrusted organization or the idea of "groups", let alone ones who would document and control information.

Well. She's distrusted them so long as she hasn't been part of it.

Enoch looks over at Sola beside him, then at the man who had spoken. "This woman here beside me once watched over and maintained a world somewhat like this. A crossroads of a world, where death meant nothing as well." Another glance at Sola - was it okay with her to share what she knew?
repeatingsun: (the true self;)

[personal profile] repeatingsun 2012-07-30 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Sola nods, confirming both the truth of the statement and the fact that it was all right for Enoch to speak about what had happened. Shifting to get more comfortable in the seat - it was still terribly odd to be doing so - she added, "It meant nothing to those from other worlds, that is. If you were a native of the world itself, then it is possible to die. That's how it worked."

...to my detriment, but she didn't say that part.

Enoch put a hand on her shoulder all the same. "And others could appear at random...it seems, though, that our hosts have found a way to direct this."

She shakes her head at this statement. "Considering what I know about them, which admittedly isn't as much as everyone else, that probably isn't a good thing. If they have a way to direct it, then I've got to wonder - why are they looking into directing it? Does anyone know?"
