Midsummer Bash
Characters: Lancer, the people he invited to the party, and everyone else who wants to stumble in
Setting: Floor 25, July 5, afternoon
Format: Open
Summary: Lancer throws a party for midsummer, since the Tower obviously needs a breather.
Warnings: None so far.
[To be honest, Lancer wanted to have the party in the evening, sometime around twilight. That would have been the most romantic time for it. Unfortunately, when in the Tower, one had to account for things like monsters. As a result, he had to hold it during the afternoon. But it wasn't too bad of a compromise.]
[This was, of course, a more simple affair than Diarmuid's birthday. For food, he had hauled a couple of tables up here and lined the table with dinner food. The centerpiece was a cake which had a heart drawn on it in red frosting. In one corner of the meadow, he had used some boxes and tarp to make some sort of booth where people could hide from the sun (and steal kisses off of each other). In the center of the meadow, he had piled a large stack of wood, perfect for lighting a bonfire by the party's end. The structures had all been surrounded with wreaths made from the meadow's flowers.]
[As soon as he's done with the setup, Lancer will sit down next to the firewood pile, waiting for people to come.]

Re: Wallflowers
In fact, the main reason that Edgeworth was there in the first place was that a certain childhood friend had guilt-tripped him into going.
So here he was, quite happily standing in his own little spot in the meadow, making sure that nobody caused any trouble.
Drag him away people!]no subject
[At which point he promptly left.]
[...only to return several minutes later, having realized that this might be a good opportunity to at least see what other people were living here in this tower. Needn't interact with any of them, right? Just walk around, listen in, stay unnoticed...there was obviously no way this could backfire. Especially if he didn't enter as himself.]
[A large, orange tabby cat approaches Edgeworth from the tall grass. He appears overwhelmed by the noise and activity, and freezes when his eyes lock on the lawyer's.]

The prosecutor had been hit with so many things out-of-the ordinary that the least thing he expected to encounter was something as normal as a domestic cat.
Unless it was a monster in disguise...?
No, it could not be. Monsters did not roam this floor. Still, a normal cat is not something one sees every day in a place like Animus.
Regardless, the prosecutor stayed in his spot, discreetly watching the cat to see if it made a move.]

[While Rick would like nothing more than to pretend that he hadn't seen Edgeworth and continue walking, Rusty is more persistent. The cat had always been rather confused at his host's fear of interaction--weren't humans supposed to be social creatures? Also, humans provided him with food and massages on a regular basis. Sure, some of them also liked to chase him, but for the most part they were harmless, right?]
[Reluctantly, Rick lets Rusty assume greater control to prove his point. The cat-and-collar ensemble approaches with delicate steps and stops at Edgeworth's feet, giving his shoes a dainty sniff before addressing him with an inquisitive meow. "What can you offer me?" he seems to be asking. A pet? Some food? Your hand, at least?]

secretlyextremely fond of his own dog back home.Still, he cannot help but be rather curious about this cat. It seems like a normal cat and not a monster, but he cannot be sure...
As Rusty sniffs at his feet, Edgeworth hesitates for a second and then slowly bends down to touch it, prepared to step back back if the cat tries to harm him.]

[Naturally, she approaches, not wanting to leave him lingering on the sidelines ignored.]
Hello. [She smiles at him, her expression friendly enough.] It's lovely here today, isn't it?

I'm sorry. I just couldn't help but notice you weren't getting very involved in things. It seemed a little impolite to just leave you by yourself, so...

[Diarmuid's grin should make it clear he is just joking, though the grin becomes something much sadder after a few moments.]
I've seen the stone for Maya in the graveyard. I'm sorry, Edgeworth. I know she was your friend.
no subject
As for Maya...her disappearance has hit Edgeworth harder than he cares to admit, so he keeps a tighter grip on one of his folded arms as he speaks. He's got to keep going - for Phoenix's sake. And Maya's, too.] Hmmmph....yes, well, it won't serve to dwell on the past now.
no subject
Forgetting the past is just as bad as dwelling on it sometimes. Both things lead to mistakes...

like he does with almost everyone else in the tower except Phoenix which is saaaaaaaaad, is another matter.Hopefully a douche answer will stop his roommate from inquiring further.]
Your misguided assumption is duly noted.
no subject
Shall I misguidedly assume that you no longer wish to train with me since it might remind you of her and that is 'the past?'
[After all, their training sessions had finally gotten started after a lot of suggesting because Edgeworth had been so worried about her safety.]

I said nothing about immaturity, Edgeworth. Jumping to conclusions much?

[Diarmuid shakes his head.]
Honestly, Edgeworth. How do you expect anyone to want to help you when you are so prickly all the time? Relax. We are all fighting together here.
