Midsummer Bash

Setting: Floor 25, July 5, afternoon
Format: Open
Summary: Lancer throws a party for midsummer, since the Tower obviously needs a breather.
Warnings: None so far.

[To be honest, Lancer wanted to have the party in the evening, sometime around twilight. That would have been the most romantic time for it. Unfortunately, when in the Tower, one had to account for things like monsters. As a result, he had to hold it during the afternoon. But it wasn't too bad of a compromise.]

[This was, of course, a more simple affair than Diarmuid's birthday. For food, he had hauled a couple of tables up here and lined the table with dinner food. The centerpiece was a cake which had a heart drawn on it in red frosting. In one corner of the meadow, he had used some boxes and tarp to make some sort of booth where people could hide from the sun (and steal kisses off of each other). In the center of the meadow, he had piled a large stack of wood, perfect for lighting a bonfire by the party's end. The structures had all been surrounded with wreaths made from the meadow's flowers.]

[As soon as he's done with the setup, Lancer will sit down next to the firewood pile, waiting for people to come.]

[Yukiko does carry a pair of dancing fans on her at all times. They serve as her weapons, yes, but she uses them to dance, too. They're tucked into her kimono sash, but she takes them out after a while. There's a single, silent summon, and fire dances around her wrists as she begins to dance.]

[Lancer just has to give a sharp whistle and clap as he sees the sight. She is beautiful. The dance is beautiful. It's made the bonfire a grander sight than he expected.]

[Yukiko takes a bow once she's done and the fire around her wrists is out - she's not burned in the slightest; it is her element< - and smiling. It just seemed right to dance, and those fans of hers aren't just weapons. She knows how to use them for their intended purpose.]

[Lancer calls to her.]

Any chance I can ask for an encore? Or is this a once-in-a-lifetime thing?

Thank you! I was worried I'd be rusty, but it really is all in the muscle memory.

[She giggles.]

I can do one more, since it is your birthday, from what I heard via your roommates. I can hardly refuse that!

[And she bows, summons again for the flame effect, and dances.]

[He waits for the dance to stop before talking.]

Actually, it's not my birthday. It's just a midsummer party.

...But thanks. Any chance I can have you do that for my actual birthday next year?

Then I'll have to doublecheck my grapevine.

[Yukiko smiles.]

Definitely. I'm Yukiko Amagi - I know Diarmuid-san, and Ryoji's my boyfriend, so. You'll know to catch me through them.

[His mouth drops open.]

Woah! The kid got himself such a pretty girlfriend, and he didn't tell me?

W-we just made it official last month...it kinda got complicated there for a while. There'd been feelings sooner, but the Tower kinda...well, it was the Tower. And between the monsters and all last month...

I understand. But Ryoji's a good kid. I'm pretty sure both he and you will be much happier in this place from now on.

I think we will, too. I really do.

[She smiles brightly.]

And if you ever want me and Diarmuid to clear out, just go ahead and tell us. Though, we might have to all take turns...

[Wink wink nudge nudge.]

[Blush achieved, Lancer. Blush achieved.]

[He laughs loudly.]

Now hurry up and find Ryoji so he can kiss those red flowers right off of your cheeks.

[That makes her go a shade redder, but she manages a bow and a wave and a bright giggle before she goes running off to do exactly that.]
