Midsummer Bash

Setting: Floor 25, July 5, afternoon
Format: Open
Summary: Lancer throws a party for midsummer, since the Tower obviously needs a breather.
Warnings: None so far.

[To be honest, Lancer wanted to have the party in the evening, sometime around twilight. That would have been the most romantic time for it. Unfortunately, when in the Tower, one had to account for things like monsters. As a result, he had to hold it during the afternoon. But it wasn't too bad of a compromise.]

[This was, of course, a more simple affair than Diarmuid's birthday. For food, he had hauled a couple of tables up here and lined the table with dinner food. The centerpiece was a cake which had a heart drawn on it in red frosting. In one corner of the meadow, he had used some boxes and tarp to make some sort of booth where people could hide from the sun (and steal kisses off of each other). In the center of the meadow, he had piled a large stack of wood, perfect for lighting a bonfire by the party's end. The structures had all been surrounded with wreaths made from the meadow's flowers.]

[As soon as he's done with the setup, Lancer will sit down next to the firewood pile, waiting for people to come.]

She was very happy when I talked to her earlier. What is she celebrating? She didn't mention anything to me...

Well, I did say the guests of honor would be Kariya and Claudia.

Do they know each other? I haven't had the chance to talk to Kariya much lately...

[He's ashamed of this, but at least he knows Kariya has Lancelot to help keep him safe.]

Yeah, they do. And they've gotten to know each other quite well over the last month.

[oathshackledbird]

What do you mean 'quite well?'

[His eyes narrow at Cu Chulainn.]

I told you what is going on with Kariya and me. If you have been setting him up on blind dates as well...

[puppy_lancer]

Oh come on. I haven't. Haven't been setting anyone up with anyone else after making that promise to you.

[oathshackledbird]

[Relief fills his eyes.]

Thank you. Now tell me, how well is 'quite well?' It almost sounds like you mean they...

Are they...together?

[puppy_lancer]

[He shrugs.]

You'll have to ask Kariya or Claudia to be sure. I don't wanna ruin the surprise.

[Diarmuid rolls his eyes and sighs.]

I take it back, brother. Right now, you are being a terrible host.

[His grin shows he's just teasing. Mostly.]

[puppy_lancer]

[He reaches out to pinch his brother.]

I'm creating an atmosphere here. That's part of the host's duties too.

Hey!

[Diarmuid scowls at his brother, rubbing the spot that was just pinched.]

I don't remember pinching guests being part of a host's duties!

[puppy_lancer]

I didn't pinch you as a host. I pinched you as my brother.

[He sticks his tongue out as Diarmuid. So there!]

[Diarmuid reaches out and grabs a hold of his brother's tongue, pulling it.]

How old are you again? I am beginning to think certainly not old enough to be the host of anything.

[puppy_lancer]

Thfoff faff!

[He swats at his brother's hand.]

Yer neen!

[Diarmuid grins.]

I'm sorry. I am having trouble understanding you. It seems a bird has your tongue.

[He gives his brother's tongue another light pull before letting go.]

You should probably watch where you stick that from now on. Those birds. Once they get a taste of tongue, they really can become a pain...

[He rubs at his mouth.]

Oh? But when a bird flies into a hound's mouth to bite its tongue, the hound might bite.

[Diarmuid laughs and tweaks his brother's nose.]

That is why the bird waits for the hound to stick his tongue out of his mouth before biting. No intelligent bird would ever fly into a hound's mouth.

[He frowns, and then decides to get revenge by poking Diarmuid's mole.]

You're getting so much better at this teasing thing. Is Waver giving you lessons?

Are we talking about the same Waver here?

[Diarmuid lightly bats his brother's hand away.]

The one whose face would crack in half if he ever really smiled?

[He laughs.]

No, if I have learned from anyone it is probably from you so you only have yourself to blame.

[puppy_lancer]

[He joins in Waver's laughter.]

Glad to see I finally got you to loosen up! But watch out. If you turn into my exact duplicate, Waver's head is gonna explode!

[Diarmuid shakes his head.]

Don't worry. I don't know if that will ever happen. Besides, I embarrass him enough already. I don't know if I want to risk what might happen if I became any better at teasing than I already am.

[He reaches out to ruffle his brother's hair.]

...Well, you'll always be smart enough to know not to prank people that you shouldn't prank.

[Diarmuid reaches up to smooth his hair back down as much as he can. Though he might sound a little annoyed with his brother's actions, he's smiling.]

You know, that is something you could stand to learn. When to leave people be.

[He clasps his hands behind his back.]

...Well, I guess you're right about that.

[Diarmuid laughs.]

I'm really more worried about you bugging other people than me. I'm pretty patient generally.
