Midsummer Bash
Characters: Lancer, the people he invited to the party, and everyone else who wants to stumble in
Setting: Floor 25, July 5, afternoon
Format: Open
Summary: Lancer throws a party for midsummer, since the Tower obviously needs a breather.
Warnings: None so far.
[To be honest, Lancer wanted to have the party in the evening, sometime around twilight. That would have been the most romantic time for it. Unfortunately, when in the Tower, one had to account for things like monsters. As a result, he had to hold it during the afternoon. But it wasn't too bad of a compromise.]
[This was, of course, a more simple affair than Diarmuid's birthday. For food, he had hauled a couple of tables up here and lined the table with dinner food. The centerpiece was a cake which had a heart drawn on it in red frosting. In one corner of the meadow, he had used some boxes and tarp to make some sort of booth where people could hide from the sun (and steal kisses off of each other). In the center of the meadow, he had piled a large stack of wood, perfect for lighting a bonfire by the party's end. The structures had all been surrounded with wreaths made from the meadow's flowers.]
[As soon as he's done with the setup, Lancer will sit down next to the firewood pile, waiting for people to come.]

Ever sympathetic to Lovers, Lancelot feels pleased to see his Master thus entangled at last. For even could he not feel the tide of of his Master's emotion, and even if he had not heard of late his Master's much repeated sentiments regarding the lady-- the happy arrangement would be obvious.
He offers a short bow of his head to Kariya-- and, having placed a hand on his chest, a bow from his waist to the lady.]
Master.
[It is a simple thing as he bows to take Claudia's free hand in one of his own.]
The pleasure of the Meeting must surely be mine, Lady.
My Master speaks of you often.
You honor us both with your presence here today.

He feels guilty almost immediately for everything he's just been feeling, but he keeps his arm firmly in Claudia's. He has to focus on what's important here, and he's happy.
Everything's going to be fine. And Lancelot and Claudia will get along well, he's sure of it. Lancelot's nothing like Lancer, who didn't make a very good impression on her.]
I told him all about you. I hope the three of us can spend time together. Sometimes. [Not all the time, as he wants to be alone with Claudia, obviously.] That would be nice. Lancelot's--a good friend.

[The tiny, nervous giggle that bubbles up doesn't serve to make Claudia feel any more confident in the impression she's making.]
H, have you? [Well, she supposes that's normal, especially given how things were in her War. But, even so, she feels self-conscious about that, too. Thinking about being under scrutiny makes her feel skittish.] Oh— Yes, I think that would be really nice! I'd like that a lot. I—would definitely like to get to know you better, too, Lancelot.

He straightens with a slight smile, leaving go of the hand in his to look down on the happy couple from a his usual height.
So much the better, if this virtuous woman makes his Master think less on his obsession with the Wife of another Magus.]
I shall certainly make myself available to you, lady-- as my Master wishes.
[HIs Master's emotions come to him in currents. Kariya is a jealous man, no doubt, but Lancelot will strive to give him no cause to be so.
He cannot change the kiss, nor would he-- but neither will he press the matter. Lancelot sees no need to defend a claim that is, in his mind, overriding and absolute-- but he will content himself with friendship. It is hardly a small thing, and one he does value, as he values his Master's happiness.]
How do you find the evening? It is unlike the Midsummer gatherings I have attended-- but all the same, it is rather well done I think.

[Kariya feels foolish as he says this. It sounds childish to him, but his sentiment is sincere. He's pleased, however, that Lancelot and Claudia seem to be getting along, in spite of the stranger undercurrents of his feelings and the pangs of jealousy.
Though secretly, he wonders fleetingly if he's a terrible person to think these things, when he should be purely happy to be with Claudia and nothing else.]
I like it. It was nice of Lancer to put it together for us. Everyone seems much more relaxed. [He looks to Claudia for her opinion.]

[Though, even as she says that, her mood sobers some, thoughts of how everyone must be feeling after recent events dampening her smile.]

He has the air of someone sharing a fond confidence when he addresses the pair.]
Yes, Cu Chulainn manages his Fetes with the same-- enthusiasm he employs in all his exploits.
He understands, no doubt, that these gatherings strengthen the Spirit and restore Courage. In my time, as well as his, it was not uncommon to feast and make as Merry as was possible during a break in the fray.
Do you take care that his effort is not in vain-- enjoy the fine weather and the company both, I pray you.
[Lancelot smiles on Claudia, knowing that his Master watches them and is made glad by his attentions to the lady.]
For what could make hearts more glad than to see friendship, affection and beauty found here together?
