Midsummer Bash

Setting: Floor 25, July 5, afternoon
Format: Open
Summary: Lancer throws a party for midsummer, since the Tower obviously needs a breather.
Warnings: None so far.

[To be honest, Lancer wanted to have the party in the evening, sometime around twilight. That would have been the most romantic time for it. Unfortunately, when in the Tower, one had to account for things like monsters. As a result, he had to hold it during the afternoon. But it wasn't too bad of a compromise.]

[This was, of course, a more simple affair than Diarmuid's birthday. For food, he had hauled a couple of tables up here and lined the table with dinner food. The centerpiece was a cake which had a heart drawn on it in red frosting. In one corner of the meadow, he had used some boxes and tarp to make some sort of booth where people could hide from the sun (and steal kisses off of each other). In the center of the meadow, he had piled a large stack of wood, perfect for lighting a bonfire by the party's end. The structures had all been surrounded with wreaths made from the meadow's flowers.]

[As soon as he's done with the setup, Lancer will sit down next to the firewood pile, waiting for people to come.]

I'm...not really sure. [Waver thought about the question for a second or two, mentally going through what magic he did know.] I have some vague skill with reinforcement, but I don't know how helpful that would be.

I expect even a little reinforcement would be better than nothing.

[Diarmuid sighs and shakes his head.]

It might be a wasted effort. The test copies I posted all disappeared so quickly, but I want to try at least once to put them up everywhere.

Wasted effort or not, I'll give it a try regardless.

[He pauses a moment to think, before adding.]

Do you think you are comfortable enough with how the printing press works, that you might be able to teach some people if I need to step away for a bit?

I think I could handle that easily enough. Why do you ask?

Even if they won't stay there long, I do want to try and put a copy of this on every floor of the tower that we can find a way to post to. Some of those floors are extremely dangerous to be on. I wouldn't feel right having others to try post there. It should be me.

If you can keep things moving while I am doing that, I would be very grateful.

[Smirking, Waver gave a slight bow he somehow still managed to make look overdramatic.]

[Diarmuid rolls his eyes at Waver's actions. Somehow his expression manages to seem both slightly annoyed and greatly amused.]

Wow... I think I better write this down. You're actually learning this teasing thing. And here I was just telling my brother I thought your face might crack in half if you ever truly smiled...

Wait, you told him what?!

[So much for that.]

[Diarmuid bursts out laughing.]

I was joking! I was joking! I know full well you can smile without breaking your face. I've seen it...

[well, he sure looks grumpy as hell now]

Of course I can.

Waver... I am going to give you until the count of three to wipe that grumpy look off your face or else I will come over there and experiment with some of those methods I suggested before...

[He grins sweetly at the other man and then starts counting.]

One... Two...

Don't even think about it.

Oh, come on...

[Diarmuid pouts at Waver.]

Master Grumpypants never lets me have any fun...

Obviously a good one.

[Diarmuid shrugs, smirking the whole time.]

You're not frowning now, after all...

[NOW HE'LL DO IT JUST TO SPITE YOU]

Oh come on now, Master Grumpypants! Don't be like that!

[He shouldn't, but he's going to do it anyway. Right then, Diarmuid reaches forward to try and pull that frown into a smile.]

[Hard to talk with someone pulling on your face, huh?]

[Diarmuid grins, but doesn't let go of Waver's face.]

I'm sorry. You seem to be having some difficulty. Maybe you should try smiling more? They say it is a cure for a great many things. You should really test that. All in the name of science, right?

[Instead of bothering to talk, Waver would just opt to bat at Diarmuid's hands somewhat uselessly.]

[Diarmuid lets Waver bat at his hands for a few moments before finally letting his face go.]

All that fuss... Wouldn't it just have been easier to smile for me?

[Diarmuid sighs and shakes his head.]
